I also did a traditional sketch of her, but it only really made sense with the story I wrote for her history, if the winner is chosen and it's not me I'd be willing to edit the art a bit to fit to their interpretation of her.

Username: Affliction
Name of pony: Sand Storm, but goes by Sand for short.
Personality:
unwilling, humble, tardy, intolerant, lonely, antisocial,
generous, crafty, despondent, grateful, unhealthy, late,
dull, depressed, reluctant, generous, savvy, stubborn,
uninvolved, forsaken, deserted, undetermined, and sad.
History:
It was a cold day, a small raindrop occasionally hit Sand on the back making her shudder and squeal, the towel she carried did soak up some drops, but not enough to keep her from almost shivering. Continuing down her usual path to the bay, Sand trudged onward as the sky broke out into a drizzle. Finally the mare made it to the beach, the monster of an ocean appeared, waves crashing along the shore. Although the waves were pretty big today, the vast sea didn't faze Sand.
After moving her head back and forth the unicorn finally decided on a place to settle down. Using a simple levitation spell which had taken her years to master, she gently pulled the maroon striped towel off her back and set it down to her left. As she set herself on the tasseled beach towel a glimmering treasure caught her eye. Sand cocked her head as she walked over to what she first thought was an ordinary spiraled shell.
Sand did her best to balance the shell on her nose, with practice from her previous day at the beach she easily kept the delicate spiral balanced and still on her snout. (This unicorn liked to practice balancing and holdings objects in various places on her body rather than using magic, which was rather hard for her.) She carefully made her way back to her beach blanket, but before sitting down a sharp pinch hit her snout. Instead of letting out a yowl or cry Sand shook her head left and right slightly, the shell landing on the soft as silk sand. In a swift motion a crab-like creature popped out of a shell.
A hermit crab? said Sand to herself unsure if she had said that aloud or in her head. "Yes I'm a hermit crab!" Hissed a grumpy voice from the sand. "My apologies..." She started as her hoof dug into the group shuffling up the soft sand kicking a few grains onto her beach blanket. "Uh no it's fine," replied the crab awkwardly, realizing he should try to be nice to the pony.

This was his chance,
Think Herman... he thought quietly to himself. Herman had taken the form as a crab for the past month, he enjoyed the beach but found walking around harder but was still rather active. This demon came from a far away place, coming specifically to this very beach hoping to find a fragile and weak pony to make an unfair deal with. :This is her,/ he thought /This is the pony your looking for. Somepony delicate and fragile.../ The strange pony had the same frown across her face as before and continued shuffling sand around. "H-" the sound of an h was all that was going to got out. An evil idea had been brewing in Herman's mind for the past week but he had suddenly felt a change of heart. How could he trick a depressed pony? "What is your name?"
"Sand."
Okay... Sand, call me Herman."
"Okay, Herman."
Herman stared into her eyes they seemed cold emotionless, oh Raza, how could he bring himself to commit such a terrible act to her?
β
"Sand?"
"Yes, Herman?"
"Would you like to make a deal?"
What kind of a deal? she wanted to ask, but This unicorn knew thy this was not the best time to ask questions.
"Yes, a deal sounds intriguing."
"If you could have anything in this world, why would you want?"
"A f-f-friend..." She stuttered ending the word in a painful sob. How stupid and sad she must seem, being asked for anything she chose a friend, pathetic.
Cutie Mark: A auger shell in front of a broken sand dollar.
Other: Sorry for the super confusing story ^^ in short its about Sand, a lonely and friendless pony who goes to the beach one day to collect some shells and try to enjoy herself. That day she comes across Herman a snappy but somewhat caring demon. Herman planned on tricking Sand and making an unfair contract with her, but eventually came to his senses and decided to comply with her wish without asking for anything in return. The two eventually do make a contract, Sand promising to be a host for Herman and in return the unicorn's magic is strengthened, given increased luck, and a new friend.
Oh and on a different note when Herman says "oh Raza" he's basically saying "oh Celestia" or "Oh Lord".
And lastly the arrow symbols (β, β) mean that the perspective of the story is being switched.
