THE LOST RIDERS - #30

Postby Penultima » Mon Nov 04, 2013 12:34 pm

Unlike many adoptables, this species isn't a "quick adopt, get a whole bunch" kind. Each one is unique and special. Each has it's own story, history, and future. You, as a potential owner, will not only adopt it, but actually own it.

You can try out for multiple dinos, but you cannot own more that 1 untrained one at once.
Keep in mind--Tribesman and women wear armor or leather garments, not casual clothes like hoodies or jeans.
They also do not have very modern-like objects, like glasses, hats, swords, etc

This boy's mine <3 Based on an Oryx, also called a Gemsbok antelope.

Captured by: Penultima
Dino's name: Canicus (kan-ih-kus)
Rider's name: Titus
Tribe: Mat'larun
Training: Advanced, level 1

~~~
Basic training 1:
A teenage boy sat in the limb of a small tree. His leg foot hung over the edge, and his boyish face lay slack and relaxed as he dozed in the afternoon sun. After searching all day for a dinosaur to capture and train, he had finally given up and took a little rest in the safety of the tree. After a few minutes, his mouth parted ajar as he began to snore softly. A while later, he woke, blinking into the red sky of the setting sun. Yawning, he arched his back and stretched, and in doing so lost his balance. For a millisecond, he hung on, desperately reaching for a hand hold, before he fell towards the ground. Before he had fallen more than 2 feet, he landed on something hard, yet warm. He slid down the side and landed roughly, but unhurt, in the dust. Waiting for his head to clear, Titus blearily looked up into the striped face of wild Bernikesaur. The boy leaped back, his back flat against the tree, and the dino was also startled, pulling his head back with a loud huff. Titus gasped for air for a few moments, the dinosaur tilting it's head slightly from curiosity. The beast leaned forward once more, blowing puffs of dust into Titus' face as it exhaled. The boy slowly raised a hand, pausing every inch or so. Finally, he touched the warm scaly snout of the dino. It shivered, and Titus felt a spark between them. He hadn't found his dino; it found him.
Basic training 2:
A few days following the event, Titus patted his steed lightly on the snout, reassuring. "I think you're ready for the saddle" he declared. He turned aside and lifted the heavily leather saddle onto his shoulder, and with a tremendous heave, slung it around the lowest tree limb of the tree he had first met his dino. "You still need a name" Titus commented as he looped the bridle across his chest. "What shall I call you?" The dinosaur huffed, eyeing the tack uncertainly. Scaling the tree quickly, the boy balanced on the lowest branch, and reached out a hand. Taking hold of the Bernikesaur's nose-spike, he directed its face closer to his position. gently prying his mouth apart, his eased the steel bit between the dino's teeth. The dinosaur resisted little, but stood tensely as though ready to bolt at any moment. Securing the bridle, Titus patted his muzzle lightly. "That wasn't so hard, was it?" Lifting the saddle, the teen placed it very gingerly between the tall spikes. The beast tensed, but stood in place as it's boy looped the straps around it's belly.
Basic training 3:
"There you go." Titus said, relieved. Most tribesman had such difficulty saddling their steeds for the first time, and he was glad his Bernikesaur was so easy to handle. The dino looked at him quizzically, wondering what the boy would do next. "Shall we ride?" Titus slowly swung his leg over the saddle, the leather tack creaking with age. It was his grandfather's old tack, and Titus couldn't afford anything else. Lowering his weight, the boy settled down, avoiding making too much movement. A line was crossed. The dinosaur sprang forward, stamping and running every which way. With no support, the boy flew out of the saddle and landed in a soft pile of brush. Dazed, he looked up blearily and blinked the dirt from his eyes to see the dino running off into the distance, snapping at the saddle as though to tear it from his back. "What a little spitfire" Titus grumbled.
Advanced training 1:
Thank you everybody! <33
For anyone interested, the name "canicus" is latin for "the flame starts", and "titus" is latin for "the fire burns".
Latin <3 teehee. Very neat design. Can't wait to see him and his rider in action {I'm assuming they're both males, correct me if I'm wrong!}
