Spooky Story (Add the Ending!): The night was dark, and the atmosphere was heavy, weighing down on the shoulders of anyone foolish enough to trek out into the barren woods. The dead leaves rattling, clinging stubbornly to the bone-dry stretching fingers of the hemlocks, cedars, and sycamores that were made up the wild groves and woodlands. It was quiet and dark for miles, no stars shining their pale light upon the earth. The only light was the sickly yellow of the moon, nothing like the comforting silver that came on other nights. A cold, moaning breeze ran through the trees, sending goosebumps over skin and shivers down spines. A thud came from down the empty path, followed by another, rhythmic, thudding beats that begin to pick up in speed and volume. Something was coming this way, and the wind seemed to pick up with its coming ever-closer. What was that sound? Was that your own breath and heart, or some monster dwelling in the bushes? You hurriedly cast glances at every shadow in the corner of your eye, but there's nothing. You turn to run, but you feel glued to the spot, as the thunder of some approaching storm grew louder and louder...
... Your heart flutters like a bird in a cage. You're trapped and unable to escape, rooted to the ground by your own fear. The trees seem to whisper to you, almost in time with the drumming. The beast comes. You're finished. The beast comes. Mist begins to appear from nowhere, shrouding the rest of the world from sight. Even if you did try to escape now, you wouldn't be able to see further than five feet in front of you. If anything is out there, it'd get you instantly. You shudder at the thought-
SNAP! You turn around. What was that?! A twig snapping?! You feel your pulse throbbing against your neck now, as if it too is trying to escape this nightmare. A silhouette is pealing from the mist now. It's still shrouded from view, but you can just about make out the large, equine-esque shape moving towards you. But this creature seems more than equine. It seems almost... predatory? You don't want to think about it anymore. Your body finally summons up the courage to move. What if it is a horse? Maybe if you walk away from it, it might leave you alone. You turn your back to the creature and walk away slowly. You are shaking like a leaf as you do so. It has to go away. It just has to.
But no, you only hear the drumming of the creature's hooves accelerate. Your breathing quickens again as you increase your speed to a brisk walk. The creature brings its speed up again. It's pursuing you. Like a fox to a rabbit, except you don't have any burrows. There's no escape. Your only hope is to run. You break out into run, your feet pounding the ground as you move. The dry leaves that have already fallen to the ground rush up past you as you are now running for your life. But now you hear the creature moving from a walk to a trot, a trot to a canter, a canter to a gallop. In no time you can hear and feel the deadly whuff as the creature catches up with you. You look around desperately, just anyway to escape. The trees! The trees are too small for the creature to get through! You make a sudden turn and dive into the trees. You fall onto your chest, groaning with the impact, getting up and looking back, you see a sickly, black, equine leg, with blackened hoof, reaching for you. It grunts and groans like a half-wolf-half-horse creature. You waste no more time. You begin to dart through the trees towards home.
As you walk through the trees, you begin to relax again. You're free from the creature's clutches. You're alive, though your heart and lungs hurt from your adrenaline rush. You look back a couple of times, but of course there is nothing there. You reach the edge of the woods. The trees are getting sparser and the mist has cleared enough for you to see the lights of home in the distance. Relief floods your system. At the edge of the treeline, you dare to look back into the woods. You smile, as nothing is there. Not anything at all.
But then you feel a whuff of cold breath on the back of your neck. The hairs stand on end. No. No, it can't be! You slowly begin to turn around, your eyes wide and your heart thudding like a train against the tracks. You turn, only to meet the creature...
