Personality:
She's a rather 'interesting' filly. Freedom likes to see the world in new and different ways and be sporadic. She is rather unpredictable and tends to be very stubborn. Freedom will fight for whatever she believes is right, and she will fight hard. Escaping The Darkness is rather hard to control, and doesn't trust too many. This beautiful filly is happy to be a leader and a hero, and likes a bit of attention. Sometimes she's a bit too quick to jump to conclusions, and to judge people. Freedom cannot be cooped up, or she will be rather a mess. After what she's been through, sometimes she may be rebellious. She's been hurt, and that's her way of protecting people and the herd. Overall, Freedom is one of the best fillies in the world, and she will be amazing no matter what happens or what her flaws are, because through the hardest challenges, the darkest nights, and the most terrible situations, she will stand by you even if she has a chance to run.

Story:
[From Free's point of view.]
I hear a dull thud and a painful nicker. Here, you barely see the daylight. Here, blood stains the walls. Here, you only get fed lots of food to be 'fattened up.' Here, all a horse's horrors come true. I am just a filly, sold to this terrible place for lots of money. I hate my life, but it doesn't matter, for it will be ending soon. I am at the butcher's, one of the horse butcher's, waiting for my turn as I sit on death row. I'm so close to where he kills them, I can watch. But I don't. I can't bear to.
Here, you don't make friend because you can't keep them. One day, they'll all be dragged off and sold as meat. Who'd even eat horses? I hate whoever does, too. I learned you can't have friends when the butcher opened my stall door and went to grab me roughly, but an older mare beside me stuck her face through the bars and bit him with all her might. He gave a screech of raw pain and released, falling on his rear. I gave her a grateful glance, but when she looked at me, her eyes were wide with raw fear and sorrow. The butcher had gotten up, looking as though he would explode in anger. I flinched as my stall's door slammed shut and the mare's opened. He grabbed her and I watched as she was tugged along, the man cursing under his breath, the mare giving me a last glance before disappearing. I never saw her again. I realize now what happened. She gave he life for mine, a rather ultimate sacrifice.
I heard the familiar -yet eerie and terrifying- sound of her own stall door open. I watched the man grimace at me and take my neck firmly. "Come on, sweetie." He hissed. But I didn't want to go. I saw a space in the door, and I ripped free. Practically trampling him, I took off running. I burst through the musty barn doors, light flooding my eyes. It hurt a bit, considering I'd been confined so long, but I refused to stop running. I squinted in the daylight, slipping from the property. I heard yelling behind me, but I couldn't and wouldn't stop. I kept running and running until it was nearly evening and I felt as though my hooves would fall off and my blood had turned cold. I pretty much dropped to the ground in a small meadow, panting unhappily and in a labored way.
I knew the farmer would be waiting to find me, sending his men and those scratchy ropes out. So I would run, and run, and run until I couldn't anymore. That's exactly what I did, until I collapsed on a rocky slope, breathing heavily, scratches covering me.
I heard the familiar crunch of footsteps, but I was too tired to get up. I closed my eyes, waiting for harsh voices to erupt and the scratchy ropes to bombard me. They never came. When I finally brought myself to open my tightly shut eyes, a girl stood there silently, watching me with concern. "What you doin' here, youngin'?" Her thick accent was loud, but kind. I snorted and eyed her with suspicion and curiosity, debating on whether to trust her or not. Her blond hair hung in her eyes, midnight blue orbs watching me with equal curiosity. Her hate was tipped ever so slightly so her eyes where shaded, and her boots made soft noises on the dirt, gravel, and rocks.
"You look terrible! I needa take you to the trailer and get you to the vet!" She walked over, squatting down and urging me to get up. I wouldn't move. After a few moments she walked away, and I sighed unhappily. But soon I heard the purr of a motor and I waited until is stopped, rather close, and the girl walked back out. She was chatting on her cell phone, persisting that she needed help. I eyed her a bit. "Just get to the vet now!" The girl finally snapped, slamming her phone's 'end call' button in a frustrated way. After a while of coaxing, bribing, and helping, she pushed me up and into the trailer. I was very reluctant, but due to being practically starved a couple carrots did the trick. I gave a small kick as the door closed and the light dimmed, whinnying in a very uncomfortable and frightful way. The whites of my eyes shone and I stomped unhappily.
"It's alright, youngin." Somehow, the girl's voice calmed me. As the truck unsteadily began to move, I rocked back and forth and sighed, very distressed. Light flooded in as the car stopped and the doors swung open, and I was now coaxed out. I reared when I tried to be tugged into a small room, nickering and flattening my ears. It took a while, but the girl gave me soothing pats and gave me a gentle shove in. As the doors closed behind me, hysteria began and I tried to close out the sounds that somewhat echoed those at the butcher's. Lights flickered, people with gloves clustered around me. Then, the room went dark and I was enveloped in peace.

I'd been on the farm for months now. Heck, I can't even count. I have met plenty of nice geldings, mares, and stallions, all acting like mothers and fathers a bit. The girl came to check on me everyday, giving me extra attention and loving words. We've been working on riding. The first time the heavy saddle was slapped on my back, I bopped my head uncomfortably. But the girl was there, beside me to comfort me.,She gave me a new name, Escaping the Darkness, but I was usually called Freedom or Free.
"Free!" She'd coo. I think the name fit me after what had happened, and I think she did too. After I woke up from the vet, she had fussed over me. The girl had complained of how terrible horse slaughterers were, and how we had to help the other horses. I would snort in agreement. Sometimes, she would even get angry. I saw her eyes get dark and her hands ball into fists. But I could always calm the girl, reaching forward to nuzzle her gently. She would sigh, nod, and walk off.
The girl, who one day I learned her name was Hannah, gave me a comfy red halter and a red blanket and various red gear. I love where I live now, and I would never change it.
I am strong. I am courageous. I am determined. I am fierce. I am stubborn. I will not back down. I have escaped the darkness.

A mother horse Sat in the back of the barn with her newly Born filly. The filly slept silently. The Stable boy was walking by with some buckets. He looked over at the horses and saw them all standing at the feeding boxes. Except for one. He looked around and saw a mare laying down silently, with a foal close next to her. The Stable boy smiled. He set the buckets down carefully. He walked into the stable, putting care into each step so he wouldn't wake up the foal. He kneeled down beside the mother horse. "A filly" he said happily. He patted the mother horses back."What should we call her girl." He went through a couple of names but the mother seemed to get mad when he said them, so he knew it wasn't right. The boy gasped. "How about Millie, the other stable boy has been wanting to name a horse Millie!" The mother horse looked from him to the filly. He know it was the right name. He patted the mother on the head. "Bye girl" then he got up, picked up the buckets and left the barn. Then next day, Millie tried tried to stand. She finally got on her feet. She wobbled a little then started to frolic around the yard outside the barn. She was amazingly fast for a filly her age. The stable boys, the farmers, and the workers were amazed. "What's her show name asked a stable boy." "I think it should be racing splash because of the splash of white on her head." Answered one of the farmers. Everyone agreed. "So it's done, that's her name!" Everyone said yes. "She's going to be a great racer one day." Said the stable boy who named her Millie.

Personality-
Millie is a kind and sweet filly. She is rather shy and has a large soft side. She is not very talkative. The other foals told her she should change her stage name or just have it be Millie (her barn name). She liked her stage name and her barn name, no matter what other horses said. She couldn't say so though. She was to shy. Finally she got brave enough to tell them "No, I don't want a new name. I like my name the way it is. I'm not changing it." They never teased her again. She is still shy, but she can speak up when needed.
