What is a Mutato?

In a rapidly changing world of rapidly accumulating toxic waste, Mutatoes take to the sky.
These creatures, affectionately dubbed Mutatoes, are a sad combination of an unknown creature, radioactive material, and a potato.
They live in the sky and consume UV radiation. They are the new era of Super Man.

At birth Mutatoes are about the size of a potato and can grow to around the size of a basketball.
Generally they are busy creatures who would prefer flying to being carried.
The Mutato is filled with the same kind of gases that its tail is made of.
These gases are currently unidentified, but are lighter than air- enabling them to fly.
They can stay in the air for a maximum of 20 hours straight before they need to land and "rest".
Though, when they can't be in the air, Mutatoes pace... a lot.

Finzel Wren Caelum

Behind the Letters
Finzel's name is hard and artful, representing his personality, species, and physical characteristics. Finzel is of my own creation, as is Wren, which just so happens to be a species of bird. This represents the feathers on his tail, and the wonderful flying skill that Mutato's have. Caelum stands for sky, representative of his body design, and again, the Mutato's habit of flying everywhere. The sky represents freedom and serenity, which is something Finzel truly appreciates.

Finzels favorite thing to do is woodcarving. He always carries his woodcarving tools with him in a small, tin box. It just so happens that he carved the handles for his tools himself, and had the blades custom made. Finzel rarely carries around wood with him, since he usually will stop down on the ground and pick out the pieces himself. Sometimes, he'll use live wood to create more lifelike carvings. Most of the time he uses dead wood, and his favorite material to work with is driftwood. Finzel can create anything with his tools, from random abstract shapes, to objects like acorns and fairies. He keeps the ones he likes, but he's known to give most of them away, or drop them down on the ground for others to find. Also, Finzel always carves while flying around in the air. You'll never find him down on the ground whittling away. He says that the sky is his inspiration, and that the ground is too confining and closed off.
