You need an upgrade for every new kid. So at the moment you are allowed to have 6 childrens, which you already have.
So if you would like to adopt an other child, you need a new update.

You readed wrong at the main thread
1 Update just make place for 1 new child. The maximum is 10 childs, but this doesn´t mean that 1 update allow you to have 10 childs.

1 Update = 1 more adoption of a child
