What is a Mutato?

In a rapidly changing world of rapidly accumulating toxic waste, Mutatoes take to the sky.
These creatures, affectionately dubbed Mutatoes, are a sad combination of an unknown creature, radioactive material, and a potato.
They live in the sky and consume UV radiation. They are the new era of Super Man.

At birth Mutatoes are about the size of a potato and can grow to around the size of a basketball.
Generally they are busy creatures who would prefer flying to being carried.
The Mutato is filled with the same kind of gases that its tail is made of.
These gases are currently unidentified, but are lighter than air- enabling them to fly.
They can stay in the air for a maximum of 20 hours straight before they need to land and "rest".
Though, when they can't be in the air, Mutatoes pace... a lot.

Reason for choosing the name;
Well...because? I guess the most honest reason is that I thought it was cute. Is that not generally how people name their pets? Because they like the sound of it? Yeah, that was the case here.

However, if I have to be creative about it I guess you could say he looks like a watermelon, and watermelons are typically in season in the summer, and summer is general associated with hot weather, and when it is hot lots of people like to go swimming, and sometimes when you are swimming little fishies will nip at your toes, and your toes are part of your feet, and people wear socks on their feet. And so that is why his name is Socks. True story.

Plus, come to think of it, I do have these really rad watermelon socks. ouo

On hot days what does this mutato tend to do?;
On hot days Socks likes to go to the beach and pickpocket people. What? No! Socks isn't a thief; what I meant to say is that Socks likes to take peoples stuff and hide it. It's really like a giant scavenger hunt. Socks takes their stuff that they left on the beach while they are out swimming and puts it in places he thinks that people will eventually find it in. He has no real interest in swimming or other beach related things, he just likes playing with human creatures and beaches just happen to be a great place to do so because people flock to the beach when it is hot.

Juice likes to cool down on hot summer days by eating a cold juicy slice of watermelon, though most of the time she just tries to keep herself protected from the people that try to eat her oAo

When I saw this Mutato design I screamed. I'm not kidding, I actually screamed! You see, I have this obsession with watermelon. It's the best thing in the whole world! (well, maybe after orangutans xD) watermelon was the first solid food I ever ate when I was a baby and it has always been my favourite food.
