What is a Mutato?

In a rapidly changing world of rapidly accumulating toxic waste, Mutatoes take to the sky.
These creatures, affectionately dubbed Mutatoes, are a sad combination of an unknown creature, radioactive material, and a potato.
They live in the sky and consume UV radiation. They are the new era of Super Man.

At birth Mutatoes are about the size of a potato and can grow to around the size of a basketball.
Generally they are busy creatures who would prefer flying to being carried.
The Mutato is filled with the same kind of gases that its tail is made of.
These gases are currently unidentified, but are lighter than air- enabling them to fly.
They can stay in the air for a maximum of 20 hours straight before they need to land and "rest".
Though, when they can't be in the air, Mutatoes pace... a lot.

Altaira is a name that means "bird." She has soaring birds as her design that are white and seem magical, and Altaira, in my opinion, sounds just as magical. It is also where the Pokemon called Altaria got its name, which I think is cool.

Altaira's element that she would like to control is the clouds. First off, she could control the movement of the clouds: She could part them if she wanted to literally soak up some sun, or push them all together if she wanted some shade. She could make them speed across the sky so that she could have a pretend race with them, or make pictures out of them. Another thing she could so is control the weather. She could cause it to rain, thunder, or snow, if she wanted, or keep it from doing any of those and make it stay sunny. She could save lives from tornadoes and hurricanes. It did, of course, cross Altaira's mind that she would be able to cause them, too, but she never would.

Altaira could be described by someone that doesn't know her well as cold or distant, but that's not really what she is. On the outside, she is always very quiet and antisocial. She doesn't talk very much and glides around slowly, seemingly as a ghost. Some young Mutatos even started a rumor that she is a ghost. If someone she doesn't know tries to talk to her, she will either ignore them or respond very curtly with short comments in her graceful, soft voice. On the inside, though, she is like a completely different person- er, Mutato. Under her shell, Altaira isn't quiet or cold or distant at all. She is still not very energetic, but once you become friends with her, Altaira is very kind and thoughtful. Her philosophical mind makes her think about everything, and that's why she doesn't talk much in public- she prefers to observe and listen, calmly. She is very deep and has many great sayings, and is very mature and wise for her age. Sometimes, first impressions aren't anywhere near close to being who you actually met.

Reason for choosing the name

I chose the name Air'es because of the element I imagined she could control. I wanted to give her a name that represented the element she could control, but at the same time, had an additional touch to it. So i took the element, air, and added on just a few letters. While it is probably the least creative name, I believe it still suits her the best.

If #36 could control any element, what would it be and why?

Out of the elements, I decided that Air'es would be able to control the element of air. Both her pattern design and her tail style played a part in the decision, but I also imagined her flying with the clouds, giggling and laughing as she used her abilities to blow them all around. I decided that kind of activity would suit her perfectly, which in turn helped me make my final decision.

-Phoena is a wordplay on the Phoenix, as her bird designs suggest.

Phoena would control the element fire. Fire is normally associated with destruction, and death. But oftentimes fire is seen in a new light-- birth, creation, and life. Fire does not have to darken the world with ash. It can also light it with warmth aswell.

Serafina means 'the burning one', and I thought it would be fitting, as her design appears to be phoenix-based.
