What is a Story Spirit?

Yearofdragon wrote:A Story Spirit is a manifestation of knowledge and imagination that takes the form of a dragon, they’re often found in libraries, universities, and schools. But it isn’t uncommon for them to be found in any place where books can be found! These little cat sized creatures live inside the stories of the books that they surround themselves with, this often effects what form and design that they take on.

Spirit's Name:
Billy-Kid. Yes, tragically obvious to it's origin, but I just read a book with him in it and he's a new obsession (The Alchemist Series). You can call him Billy for short.
Personality:
Very rowdy. Billy knows when a fight is going to happen before it does. He always wants what he wants and isn't at all afraid to show it. He can be a bit reckless at times, throwing himself into things that really shouldn't concern him. However, he's really big heart, and would and will be very upset if his quick actions harmed someone he loved. He hates listening to what anyone else says and willalways make comments about where he is and what he's doing. Billy always sees the bright side of things, and is an optimist. Why he became a story spirit? Well, he would do anything to help people that he cares about, so if you bond it him, be ready for a ton of ideas. Just ignore what he says about horses and cowboys- he'd say anything to get them into your story!
A Short story about this spirit:
(When I say short, I mean short!)
Running long fingers through my hair, I stumble around slowly on sore legs. I had just finished my first trail ride, ever, and I needed somewhere quiet to go and read. The gift shop looked inviting, so I peeked inside, heading straight for the bookshelf. There was one book that sounded quite good, about famous outlaws in the west, to I made my purchase and headed home.
At home, I soon collapsed on the couch and, with fingers that had not yet recovered from gripping the reins so hard, I opened the book. Funnily enough, when I set it down for a second to rub my aching thighs, it had fallen closed again. I opened it, and then it closed again.
Then I saw it- a shadowy shape visible only when I concentrated. It was a miniature dragon, closing the book whenever I opened it. I slowly stepped backwards in shock. When he noticed I had seen him, he laughed, a rusty but happy sound.
Trust me, these stories aren't true. Especially this one. The page was open to a story about the famous outlaw Billy the Kid. I stayed with that one for a bit- that story is not true at all. They got all the facts wrong. His voice was a bit low, but it was nice. He didn't sound as refined as I though dragons should be.
You- I like you. You have potential. What are you called?
I wasn't moving backwards now and answered, still a bit in shock, though not as much, "A-Amethyst."
He smiled. I could see now that his horns were reminiscent to those of a bull, whereas he also had a whip-like tail and some sort of cowboy fringe. I'm Billy. Guess where it came from?
I smiled and pointed to the open page.
Yup. So, where do you keep the ropes? I can teach you how to lasso.
So I followed the dragon and grinned, a small one at first but then openly.I had just found a new friend- and he was a dragon!
