Gender wrote:The first thing I thought when I saw this MMM, was that it just had to be a boy. He looks masculine to me. "Ha! Of course I'm a boy!"

Name wrote:Oh, the name. I bounced around between a few names for him, but decided in Okapi. Yes, yes, I know that an Okapi is an animal native to Central Africa { A few years back, each person in my class had to pick an animal to do a report on, and I had a thing for Okapis, so naturally, I know pretty much every thing there is to know about them. }, but I find Okapi makes an adorable name. Some of his nicknames could include Kapi, Oka, or anything that wouldn't offend him... Little Kapi doesn't like it when someone calls him 'small', 'little', or 'mini'. He doesn't much like being a Mini Maned Mammoth, and insists on being just a Maned Mammoth. "I'm definately not little! No doubt about it!"

Why? wrote:Gosh, there are so many reasons! First off, I've been looking for a species like this that's well thought out and adorable... Well, looks like I found it! <3 Second, I really like this one's design. He's such a cute litt- "Don't say it!" I didn't! *sigh* what was I saying? Oh! Yep. He was designed beautifully.

Story wrote: { Told from Okapi's point of view }

I lay in the cold snow, relishing the feel of cold seeping through my thick fur and onto my skin. I watched the delicate snowflakes that daintily floated down from the clouds and landed onto my nose. It was beautiful. I loved snow. Loved it. Snow was my favorite thing, and always comforted me for some reason. I guess it might be because of what happened when I was with my mother. Now, I'm sure you'd love to know what the heck I'm talking about. Well, take a seat and listen, because this might take a while.

"Okapi, come on," she called from over her shoulder as she lead me through the snow-dusted forest. I was trailing behind her, not exactly paying attention. You see, this was my first winter, and I was simply fascinated by the snow. Naturally, I was born the day after the snow stopped falling, so I hadn't seen the snow until today. So, I didn't exactly want to follow my mother as closely as she wanted to. I wanted to watch the snow! What I didn't realize was that the reason that she wanted me to stay so close to her as we walked was because she could tell that the snow was going to increase. There was going to be a snow storm, and I was about to be caught in it. "Alright, momma," I answered, but sat down to study a particular flower that had snow crystals laced on it's pink petals. I thought it was beautiful; the flower growing in the snow like that. So I looked at it for a few more moments before looking up, expecting my mother to be a few feet in front of me, maybe even waiting for me. But she wasn't. And I could tell that the snowflakes were getting bigger. I started to panic. "Momma?" I called out, but no one answered me but the wind. "Momma?!" I called, this time more warily. I ran after the direction that she had gone, but didn't see her. I kept running, calling out her name every few minutes until my legs seemed frozen and stiff, and my throat hurt from yelling over the raging wind, After what seemed like hours had passed, I figured I was on my own from that point on. I curled up in the snow, trying to stay as warm as possible, and squinted my eyes shut in hope that sleep would come soon.

The next day, I awoke to the chirp of a bird. Flicking my ears, I blinked my eyes open and looked around. I half-expected my other to be sleeping beside me, but with a pang of sadness, I realized that I probably wouldn't see her again. In the following few days, I learned the hard way how to hunt, as I had never been taught to. It took a few hours of trial and error, but got it soon enough. I also made a lot of friends with some other animals. They seemed friendly, and it was much better than being alone.

I still think about my mother a lot, but try not to let it get to me. I hope to someday find her if she is, in fact, alive, but as of now, It's just me. Me and a whole lot of snow.

Why Do You Want This MMM?:

Story:
Beau was walking gently down beside the river when she heard a squeak. She peered into the bushes and saw a little mouse nibbling on a stem. He was trying to get a berry down from a tall skinny stem. Laughing she quickly bit the stem and the berry dropped down to the mouses' paws.The little mouse bumbled back into the dark bushes clutching the large berry.
Little things like that made Beau happy. Smiling she bounded away.
