Ignore his mini-leader personality, talk to him often and BE A FRIEND.

Creativity: The wind blew. Storm clouds rolled over the sky. Raindrops fell steadily. The dazelles, uneasy, stamped their cloven hooves and flicked their ears. In a corner of the leader's den, Star, leader of the pygmy dazelles, shivered uncontrollably. He had been one of those who went out daily in the storm to fetch thorny brambles and ferns to patch up their dens and block out the rain. Now he had a serious cold. The herd's healer, Forest, sighed as she forced more bitter herbs down his throat. Star coughed, and retched out the healing medicines. Forest looked up at the sky, despair dimming her eyes. "The leader would not survive this terrible cold," she murmured to herself. And it was true. The next day, the warrior guards bellowed their sadness. Every dazelle was overcome with grief. Now they were leaderless. Ash lowered his head and firmly nudged the last ferns and brambles into a gaping hole in the nusery's den. He should be leader. But would the herd accept him? That day, the senior warriors called a council. Every adult dazelle shuffled to the Council's Clearing. "Dazelles!" a warrior boomed. "We must elect a new leader in this time of darkness." Murmurs rippled through the dazelles. Ash kept quiet and waited. "Any volunteers?" the warrior went on. Ash slowly raised his head and trotted beside the senior warrior. "I want to be leader," he said quietly. "I promise to take care of my herd, guide them through their darkest hours and lead them well." There was silence. Then the thunderous clopping of hooves was heard. The first whinnies rang out in happiness. There was no doubt that Ash was accepted by all.
To this day, he remains the Leader of Legend. (NOTE: This story is fiction. Doesn't mean that Ash is really the leader

)
Other: Ash is still as bossy as ever. (LOL)
