Osraige

Owner: Silverhart
Gender: Male
Type: Celtland Hue Fawn

The Celtland Hue Elkrin Fawn

This young male Elkrin fawn is an orphaned Celtland Hue and we are looking to find him a good home. These types look similar to the Marbles, but his spots will disappear as he grows, leaving a more striped coat. To adopt him please fill out the form and give him a special name and personality. You may include up to 2 pieces of art.

Oh my gosh, I knew it would be a good idea to wait a little bit! Reserve.

About the Caretaker
At the Screen:
Sphie
Rune Bearer:
Silver Vivizae

What is his name?
Malakó Astrapí̱, or Malak for short.
Why this name?
Malako Astrapi is Greek for "soft lightning". I think this suits him because of his soft, storm-colored fur, decorated by patches of bright, hence lightning. At the same time, lightning seems too harsh for such a delicate creature, but soft lightning makes me think of warmth and light, but without danger. I thought it would take a while before I could find a suitable name, but suddenly the perfect name pops up, as though it couldn't wait to be used.
What is he like?
Malak is gentle and shy, often skirting around interaction, but I foresee a strong, just disposition waiting to emerge. I think he will grow into a leader someday, even if nothing could be farther from his mind at the moment.
How will you care for him?
Sphie wrote:I would give him art, give him a nice place in my character thread, find a place for him in my signature, and keep him very pampered. Maybe I could even start a roleplay for him and other Elkrins and their bearers.

Silver wrote:I may not have much to promise, but I would keep him safe and loved, and he would never be without travel and wonder to behold. I would be sure to give him all the care I could, and I'm sure Canvas would be intrigued by her new friend. He will never be in short supply of love and care.

Gah-ha! He's just too adorable! I can't resist... Expect a form soon!

Name:

Osraige

There's a long story behind this name. When I saw him I thought he sort of looked like an Oisìn to me, which means 'little deer' or 'fawn'. But it just didn't feel right. I remembered something I had once written down – the word Osraige. I remembered the word, but not where it was from, so I hopped on the internet and began searching for 'Osraige'. Osraige is the Irish name for the Kingdom of Ossory (yes, I need to stop with the Irish names, but it's just so perfect!) The kingdom was named after a native tribe called the Osraige – meanign 'deer-people'. I think Osraige is perfect for this little prince. (Guess it wasn't that long of a story, actually...)

Personality:
When I first met this little fawn, I was surprised by his calmness and trust. Perhaps it was a childlike innocence, but he allowed me to approach him, and even seemed to be curious about me. I knew immediately that this little fawn was a bold and fearless being.
Osraige is an impulsive, and at times reckless fawn. His initial calmness was misleading - of course I fell for those big baby eyes. This little fawn is a bit of a trouble maker. Osraige is very adventurous - he's a wanderer at heart, always wanting to get out and explore. He can't be contained, and one of his favorite pastimes is finding his way out of places. He's one talented little escape artist. This little Elkrin wants to be out and about and is very active. He has a seemingly endless amount of energy, matched only by his tenacity.

This little Elkrin is no one's prey. Bold and reckless, he has an extreme developing sense of right and wrong. Osraige repays every kindness, and remembers every evil deed. Here his tenacity is a double-edged sword, for once he gets a hold of an idea or opinion he never lets go of it. Extremely headstrong, he is determined in every endeavor, and always gives his all to his passions, which can sometimes make him hard to deal with. Not the kind to stop and think, Osraige is more likely to charge ahead blindly - and it gets him in trouble more often then not. Every adversity for him must be faced with immediate action, and this Elkrin is no pacifist. He has a fighting spirit, and I have often seen him head-butt objects he takes offense to.

Never one to back down from a fight, Osraige is the kind to face challenges head on, chest out and head high. He often charges into a problem without thinking it through all the way. If faced with the Gordian Knot he'd be the one to draw his sword and slice it in half. Oftentimes he can get stuck in one way of doing things, and it may take a lot for him to realize there is more then one solution to a problem.

Osraige is a playful, generally happy little thing. He loves to run and leap and chase things, and I often have to go running after him. He's developed a game of leaping off of high places and trying to fly like a Rune dragon. This causes me no end of worry of course, but the nimble little boy always seems to land on his feet. I hope he'll mellow out in time, but I have no desire to tame and make a pet of him. I enjoy his antics, even when they worry me at first.

When it comes to games Osraige lets others take the lead. He usually plays fair, but as with most corrals he can easily find his way out of most rules if it suits him. He's a good follower, and surprisingly a good listener - but only when you have something to say that he wants to hear. If not, he'll run off to find something more interesting to do. Osraige is not what I'd call obedient. He has a mind of his own, and he's going to use it. He doesn't let others walk all over him. But if you can earn his respect, this Elkrin will follow you to the end of Eldemore and back.

In general, this little Elkrin is good with others. He's outgoing and charismatic, in a quiet sort of way. He's not a very loud Elkrin, preferring to keep his opinions to himself a lot of the time, and let others do the talking, so to speak. But his silence on matters should not be confused with shyness. This is an Elkrin of action, who loves being in the company of other Elkrin, Runes, animals and humans that he trusts. He loves making new friends, and greatly dislikes being all alone.

This noble little creature is strong of heart, even though he is too young and naïve to know it yet. He is still a baby and is frightened by things he doesn't understand. He depends on his friends to be brave, and is very insecure. I suspect his wanderlust may stem from separation anxiety due to some past trauma, and he will need patience and careful conditioning to overcome this fear. What Osraige doesn't understand is that he has courage all his own, and when the time comes he will shine like a star.

How will you care for him?
I've never had an Elkrin or Elkrin fawn before, but I'm sure Osraige and I will learn from each other. He is a difficult fawn to control, but I relish his wild spirit, even if he isn't the sweet helpless baby I thought he was at first. I want to help him overcome his fears. More then anything I want to find out why this little guy was abandoned, and what happened to his mother. I'd also like to find him another little Elkrin as a playmate for him, if possible. My Runes will serve as playmates in the meantime, but I feel he needs to be around his own kind, else he'll start to think he's a Rune. I will take care of Osraige until he's full grown, and hope to learn more about the Elkrins while doing it. The more I can learn from Osraige about his species the better chance we have of saving these magnificent Eldamorian beasts. If possible, it would be an amazing gift if Elkrin bonded with me.
Of course he'll spend some time in my signature, and be the subject of many art pieces and stories. My Runes and I will raise him as best we can. He will be very much loved and well cared for.
