Maskamira, Queen Higryph, Celestial of the Day and Night
It was a cool summer's night. I lay in my usual place in the woods, staring up at the stars. As I stare at them, I slowly begin to notice a slight distortion in some of them. The distortion grows larger and larger until I can hear wings. Before I can jump up, a large creature lands over me. It screeches like an owl and looks down at me, its piercing blue eyes blinking inquisitively down at me. We stare at each other for a good long while unmoving. It was beautiful. I slowly began to recognize it as a beast I had seen many years ago that disappeared in these very woods. Now here it was, right in front of me. As I lay there, I became aware of a voice in my head.
Inkeyu. It said. I need your help. Higryps from my world are too numerous there for it to remain a healthy and balanced world. I need you to help me find good homes for the surplus as well as some of the other Celestials here in your world. You can hear me because I choose for you to hear me. After I explain everything to you, I will then not speak to you until you can prove to me that you are worth becoming my Bonded. I nodded in agreement and the explanation began.
The next morning, I found myself on the front steps of a farm house with a "Sold" Sign out front. Sitting up, I heard a clinging noise on the ground beside me and turned to see a key on the ground. I picked it up and tested it in the front door. It worked and I let myself in. On a table right in the doorway I found an envelope. Setting the key beside the envelope on the table, I picked it up and carefully opened it, removing its contents. It was a deed. More specifically, the deed to the farm. As well as papers in my own handwriting, instructions on what, how, why and when for the adopting out of Higryphs. I smiled, knowing exactly what I had to do.
