There are two types of Plague Hounds: Hawks and Crows.

They are very similar. They both resemble a fox and have the same amount of radioactivity in their bodies. Their masks are always lighter than their pelt, and their markings range from freckled to tabby, a wide variety. They both are very good at their jobs and are focused during working hours. Both Hawks and Crows like attention, and are very loyal. They both will only choose one Saviour in their whole lives. After their Saviour has died, they usually will have the radioactive waste drained out of their bodies and they will work with the plague victims or retire to a life of comfort in a sanctuary.


Hawks are the more common Plague Hounds. They have short beaks and wings that look as if they are decaying. They have a keen sense of smell and are known for their cat-like ears. Their pelts are usually on the lighter tone, but that isn't always the case. Hawks are friendly and kind to all, despite their menacing appearance. They are the size of a golden retriever once full grown, and it can take up to 30 years until they reach full height. They are very loyal to their Saviour, and never question a word that he or she says. Hawks like a good stomach rub from time to time. They live between 74 and 140 years.
NOTE: There have been recent mishaps in the labs that have concluded in the creation of wingless Hawk Plague Hounds. These creatures are extremely rare, for only some can pass the training. There is no way to tell what went wrong when creating these hounds, but it doesn't seem to affect them for the exception of not being able to fly. The wingless are usually put in ground patrols with Crows.

To get this Hawk you will have to write a story about how you met him/her. The only requirements for it is that you:
- Must be in a different time period (medieval, 1800's, etc)
- Must take place during/near the time a natural disaster occurs (drought, plague, tornado, etc)
- Must explain how you came to cross upon this Hawk [/quote]

Nix just so happens to be a very happy PH, He tends to not stay around the more moody ones, and likes to be alone at sometimes, he tries to make every one around him feel as happy as he often is, he generally can't stand a tension filled environment. So to sum things up, he is a very cheerful little PH.

~ Shy ~
Nix is a very shy little PH he tends to keep to himself and hates it when people pick him out of a crowd. He likes to keep behind the others and enjoys the peace and quite of being alone.

~ Sweet ~
Nix is a very sweet Plague Hound, he likes to put others before himself, and even though some find him a little odd looking, he does not mind and stays as sweet as always to others.

The first thing I remember was the anxiety. Anxiety, the fizzling, dreadful emotion that seemed to grip every soul that resided in my quaint little town. As time lagged on in this year of 1871, it became clearer and clearer that what we dreaded was to come. As citizens fell ill, the town itself seemed to shrink in size, and the people became distant. Morning birdsong faded away, good-natured chatter ceased, all of the townspeople seemed to have been consumed by that terrible plague that threatened to ravage all of the United States. With the nation still recovering from the blow of the Civil War, it seemed that all hope was lost to find a cure for this horrible tragedy.

That is, until I met Paradox.

I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. I had just finished weaving what would be my younger sister's work clothes when the sun tempted me to venture outside. I was to be in town anyways to purchase cotton from our local merchants, so no one objected when I asked to leave my home. For a day that carried so much illness and despair with it, it was oddly welcoming, and the lapping breezes and sunshine relaxed me enough to come close to forgetting that sickness had almost exterminated half of my village.

It was a nice stroll, despite the fact that I was alone and ailing. After stopping to purchase some cotton, a beaded necklace caught my eye. I was, of course, in no financial state to buy such a beautiful piece of jewelry, yet I stopped to browse at it anyways.

"It's half off," the merchant offered.
"I wasn't interested in buying it." I replied simply.
"Sixty percent off." the merchant tempted.
"You seem awfully eager to sell this," I inquired, suspicion edging my voice.
"I need the money for an operation."
"Disease, I assume?"
"Nope, a wound. My Hound turned on me."
This caught my attention. "Hound? You mean, like a dog?"
"Look, kid, I'm not getting paid to gossip. Either you buy something or leave."

Irritated by his sharp tone, I turned and left the village, and set out for home.

And that's when I came across him.

When I first heard the rustling in my workroom, I assumed that a raccoon or cat had snuck in. But once the creature lifted his head, I was in for a shock.

It was the most bizarre creature I'd seen; its bony mask knocked against the wooden floor, and it's fluffy tail slunk back and forth like that of a preying cat. It turned to face me with it's hollow eyes and pointed plague doctor mask. My first intention was to scream or to beat it over the head with a stick, but as my eyes examined it, I froze. Snagged in it's left claw was a Death's Door mouse.

I hadn't even realized the vermin had been hiding in my workroom the entire time, but the Hound in front of me had sniffed it out in a snap. The Plague Hound made a sort of purring noise, dropped the mouse, and rubbed it's head affectionately against my leg.

For such a nightmarish creature, the Plague Hound was surprisingly friendly and sweet.

"You certainly do contradict yourself," I mused as I rubbed the Hound's moss-colored ear. "Like a paradox."
