Treve had gone off to an expedition with Manor but Chanet' thought he was too young. Treve insisted and Chanet' gave him an okay. Soooo, the expedition was to another region to find more food because Lorquai was slowly dying... They were thinking about a few panthers because the place was populated with them. Treve wasn't looking and Manor tried to take the panther on himself... Yeah, that happened and so on.
