I'll choose as many stars as the eye can see...

T u n e s y

Vanessa Borealis

I chose this name because of the colors,
that in my eyes,
seem to be glowing. In a way.
Vanessa came from the thought of the word finesse.
The fine quality of the jellyfish, the giraffe,
how they blend. I thought of a name close to that word,
and Vanessa came to mind. Borealis, was from
Aurora Borealis, the Northern light. The jelly fish glowed,
glowed from within the picture, so I chose
to use Borealis.

But the one I want...

Nessa is quiet girl. She likes to stay in a lot and dream
dream about tomorrow. She has a hobby in fortune telling.
Her quietness and focus, she concentrates, and tries, to
look forward. She'll doze off here and there, but her world
is in color. There also can be times when she get's irritated
so much, the loudest noise she make, would be a high
pitched scream that really isn't at all, loud whatsoever.

Is you

Who's This User? ; Hello! My name is Lilysplash, but feel free to call me Yuri-chan or Suiren, which respectively mean Lily-chan and Water Lily.
I'm looking forward for trying out for this gorgeous mutato. <3

What's Her Name? ; This little lady's name shall be Fauna.
A Gender is My Concern ; female
The Reason Behind the Name ; I had thought through this question quite a lot, going through many possible names. The animals brought me to think of Africa's beautiful savannas and the gorgeous waters of the Caribbean, but one name seemed to encompass it all.
Fauna, as most people know, is Latin. Often used in the phrase "flora and fauna", it means "animal life", which is beautifully depicted on this mutato. It will also represent her passion for saving endangered species and her fondness for all living things.

Her Personality ; At first glance, Fauna is an airhead. Sweet and innocent, she seems both loving and lovable in her laid-back, spacey, adorable way, seeming to daydream and stare into nothingness at the strangest times. Really, there isn't much wrong with this assumption; yes, she is naïve to a degree, and she is very calm and cutely air-headed. Sugary sweet and playful, she likes for things to play out among themselves instead of overworking. This isn't laziness, she'd insist, it's the optimistic side of predestination. Good things were destined to remain.
However, knowing her only to this superficial extent would be quite a shame, as there are much brighter, more diverse colors hidden under this happy-go-lucky layer. Being an airhead would not make her stupid: oh, not at all. What she lacks in street smarts, she makes up tenfold in book smarts. She has an acute memory and enjoys reading anything and everything. Science books form a formidable portion of her reading, most of which concerning the genomes of plants and animals as well as thick illustrated encyclopedias and books concerning endangered species (surprisingly, the reason that she got interested was not the pretty pictures she saw). She has the stunning capability of smoothly reciting lists and lists of endangered species as well as their classification and information about them, from their environments to their eating habits. Her math skills are surprisingly comprehensive, but she is more of a literary mutato: math and science are too "uptight and logical", with little wiggle room with the answers- the only sciences she enjoys are ecology (environmental sciences), zoology (the study of animals), and botany (the study of plants). She enjoys allowing her creativity to flow, all the while ignoring her strong point. Fauna just rolls like that, choosing to tread her own path instead of going with the flow and taking the obvious answer in front of her.
Animals and plants would most likely be the thing that she is most passionate about; this is something that she cannot sit back and allow to work out. Her love for all living things had started ever since she was little and saw her first butterfly, a monarch, while frolicking in a flower meadow. Amazed by its beauty, she set out to learn everything possible about the species, awestruck by its tenacity to migrate and the fact that humans would be so cruel as to wipe out many monarchs- as well as other equally astounding species. She was instantly inspired to work to improve the polluted world around her, bit by bit, dreaming of saving the scarce rainforests and even scarcer animals living inside. All things deserved a life, and she was not going to let anything, anything, die on her watch. She starts collecting plants in the greenhouse to study further. She develops a strong admiration and fascination for these animals struggling to live and gives them every moment of her life. Her time is spent cleaning up litter as well as eradicating radiation and dangerous toxins. A dislike of careless humans develops: how dare they demolish the beautiful world around them? How dare they take everything for granted and watch it wither at their feet? She swears to protect any and all animals with her all. When asked about her interest, a spark would flicker on in her silvery gaze and she would go on and on about her passion with a fiery love in her voice. It is clear that she would sacrifice even her own life for the beautiful world around her, whether for the merest translucent jellyfish or for a bird or giraffe. After all, the world is the world that she lives in, and she believes that everyone had to protect it with their all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
A Story ;
It was cold, bitterly so, cold and gray and dreary like every day that was not searingly hot in the smog-filled world. Clouds formed in delicate wisps at first, but the puffing smokestacks below the polluted firmament quickly spilled more gunk into the smoky atmosphere. Wind howled unforgivingly like it was mourning the days gone by when it tickled the leaves of lush green trees and flirted with fresh meadow grasses and flourishing dandelions. Those days were long gone, long dead when the humans obliterated nature itself, replacing nature with a harsh concrete jungle filled with hatred, greed, and the human flaws. Nature itself could not have torn apart the world in such a way; only humans had the power and lack of responsibility to demolish the very world they lived on. Skyscrapers towered portentously, forming foreboding black silhouettes against the iron gray sky. The world was leached of life, of color, in all but one place.
Specks of bright color seemed to dart in and out of the puffy clouds, cleaning up the toxins and radiation. They soared sanguinely, some alone, some in groups, chatting amongst themselves in a carefree manner. The pollution seemed not to affect their bustling lives as the mutatoes- for that is what they were- took to the air.
One particular mutato, with large silver eyes and a flowing, almost iridescent tail streaming behind it, seemed to struggle in its flight. It was just learning to fly, and in a daze, had lost her balance. The little creature, named Fauna, had been daydreaming again, for the umpteenth time. Her fantasies had been about rainbows and butterflies, although she had never actually seen any of those before. All she knew was that butterflies were big and colorful, with wings like a bow tie and a hummingbird's combined (not that she knew what a hummingbird was, either, but that was just what it had said in her mama's old book). A rainbow was apparently an arc of colors spanning the sky like a ribbon.
Closing her eyes, Fauna imagined herself earlier that morning, gazing avidly at the faded picture book. The words themselves were nearly illegible and irritatingly tiny, but the little mutato had finally made them out after much careful squinting. Her scrutinization had come up with funny neologisms: "A world with butterflies and rainbows, a world made of happiness and love". What were those things she had never heard of before: a "butter fly", a "rain bow"? A fly like the ones buzzing about trash, but made of oily butter? A bow and arrow molded from that putrid acid rain? They certainly didn't seem very enticing. Her visualizations were proved wrong when she inspected the picture above the text, painted in worn hues that were once beautiful. Such a world couldn't have been real, drawn onto an ancient page of an ancient book. It all seemed sadly distant and like a beautiful wonderland made up to lull young mutatoes to sleep.
However, she couldn't get her mind off of the lovely scene. It stuck like the gooey tar produced from factories, never shaking off, so as she struggled to fly with her classmates, she kept spacing out and into that fantastical new universe. Snapping back into reality, she tried to focus on the task set in front of her. She was already behind the others, and with the wind working against her, it was not going well. Suddenly, a particularly fierce gust toppled her concentrating and pushed her back, suddenly causing her to plummet dangerously. Trying to return, she gasped when something blinded her eyesight.
Something strange had broken through the clouds, a giant laser or spotlight. It looked like a blade of hope, slicing through the smoke and striking Fauna's eyes. Bedazzled, Fauna froze to admire the phenomenon.
Freezing, however, led to her to fall more, which she had not realized. Letting out an eep, the pink mutato fought to maintain control, but gravity tugged at her. She fought against it, but only managed to swerve around a bit. She was falling, falling, falling into a strange green space...
I wonder, she thought, if I'm going to die dreaming about that book. She closed her eyes and hit the ground.

Dazed, Fauna could feel something brushing her side. Her eyes fluttered cautiously open, adjusting to the world. Sunlight streamed through the field, vibrant yet soft, its tenderly caressing rays warm and buttery. Everything, everywhere, was green, marvelously so, bursting with life Fauna had never seen before. The scent was fresh and the air was almost fragrant in contrast to the rancid city smell. Flowers dotted the ground in multiple hues and birds fluttered and chirped in the air. Startled, the little mutato roused herself, eyes expanding to a large size.
I'm in heaven. I have to be, she thought in awe before pinching herself. Luckily, she was not dead. She stared, awestruck, at a puffy dandelion near her paws. When a small breeze passed, little parachute-like white tufts drifted off gracefully to create new life. Bluebells- for that is what they were called in her mother's book- littered the grass with other blue flowers (they were gentians, but Fauna did not know that). Pinks and whites and yellows and lavenders dotted the ground in cheery bursts.
Suddenly, a lazy orange creature flitted by. Alert now, Fauna pricked her ears in curiosity. She eyed the large creature with vibrant orange wings intricately woven with black lines. Was this... was it a butterfly?
She thought of the picture in the book again. It was so much prettier in real life! She followed it around before discovering some smaller cabbage whites, laughing as they fluttered around her. What was this new world?
Lost in her joy, her teacher had spotted her. She escorted Fauna, much to the little mutato's displeasure and reluctance, back home, where she was met with some more displeased faces. Home was home, she supposed.
However, that day, one thing had changed. A fire inside of her had been lit, a spark flickering on. She was going to save these beautiful areas, these areas full of wonder that molded her personality and gave her passion.

Wow this was a hard decision... but it had to be made tonight since I won't be home for a few days.
Believe me, if I could have made a Runner-Up for this one, I would have. Quite a few forms made me feel all happy. You guys are all awesome. ^^
However, I love your writing style Lilysplash. Congratulations.

Thanks, guys! X3 The longest form doesn't always win, though!

And to licorice pastels: I'm sorry. :c Your form was amazing and I'm sure that if Dia was allowed to make a runner-up, it'd be you!

Actually, I very frequently am too lazy to read the long forms for anything, so I skim over them and a shorter form ends up winning. XD One of the finalists for this mutato was actually a short form.
A few words just caught my eye in the winning form and I had to read the whole thing and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
