personality: chay's the laid-back, chilled guy who really couldn't be bothered doing anything. he's a couch potato, to say the least, and surprisingly does an amazing job at hiding that fact from first impressions, despite his lazy drawls and, well, everything. he's a passive guy, most of the time, letting things be, letting them happen as they do. like his dreams and ambitions for the future - chay, as much as he'd love for them to come true, chay would rather talk about it, then leave it as it was. perhaps it's due to his dependent spirit, but he prefers to just let others do the work for him. it's quite a pain for everyone around him to handle (with the exception of his stepmother; she just coddles her precious boy). that said, chay feels at home just about anywhere - almost overly so, as he begins to lack the appropriate manners. plus, he falls asleep just about anywhere, no matter how shady the location is (in both literal and metaphorical terms).
chay is also a curious guy; as lazy as he might get, he stops at nothing to sate his curiosity - whatever he is, he will solve it. be it dangerous, or mysterious, or just ordinary. basically chay can be described as the cat who was done in by curiosity. his methods can be a little questionable sometimes though - it's quite unpredictable. some days, he just questions someone involved in whatever it is, and on others, he stalks them. sometimes he just researches, or theorises. or worse. he'll do whatever it takes. chay's just kinda strange that way.
speaking of just questioning people, chay is an insensitively honest guy. he doesn't really notice things he's saying - doesn't really understand the weight of his words. it's a trait that drives most away from him. but then on the other hand, he just, for the life of him, is unable to lie or persuade others to his cause. it's extremely obvious when he lies, as he becomes a lot more excited and his mouth twitches noticeably. and because of that, persuading becomes tough as he tends to stick to the truth and really all-in-all does not have the skill to manipulate others. it's not like he's ever really needed to, anyway.
it's been a relay of bad points so far, but chay does his redeemable traits too. first of all, chay is, and had been brought up to be, a good guy. he's the kind who'd indirectly help someone voluntarily - like walking slowly along side an old man crossing the road so that they wouldn't be too pressured to cross quickly. he helps lost children by keeping an eye on them from afar, in case a criminal might come by and take them away. he lets others his shoulder when they need it, patting their shoulder but not asking any questions unless they're willing to talk. it's a fact most let slip past their fingers - barely anyone is around long enough or observant enough to catch these acts. those who do, end up staying for a long, long time.

backstory: chay's grandfather was a rich man. there were buildings left and right under the man's name, and the man himself stood as tall as they did. but then one day, it was all swept up from under him, and the man fell far, far down. and although it wasn't to the very worst depths, it came as a large blow to his mental and physical health, rendering him bedridden with a stroke.
chay's father was the sole inheritor of his grandfather's wealth. everything was meant to have been passed to chay's father, and then later perhaps even to himself. but then when chay was just a toddler, a crafty conman came by, enticed his grandfather with an opportunity he could not pass up. all the right buttons were pressed, all background checks appeared to have been a pass. but then without knowing it, his grandfather had fallen into a trap and everything apart from some of his savings and few properties. everything fell apart.
chay's mother had been married to her husband for the promise of a luxurious future. she wasn't quite in love with the man; she was in love with the money. the brand-named goods. she wasn't too attached to her son either, and before they knew it, the divorce papers were signed and done and out she went, with her expensive clothes and bags in tow. and so chay's father decided to single-handedly raise the son his father doted on so much.
but surprise, surprise, the nanny he'd been put with since he was born decided to continue caring for chay free of charge. she had a child long ago - but that child had passed due to her negligence at that time; her everlasting regret. chay was like her second chance. so she often visited between other jobs, coming back with gifts on occasion. one way or another, she gradually grew to become family - quite literally as within a couple years, married chay's father. chay's stepmother continued to spoil him, doing everything for him. sure, he couldn't always get whatever he wanted, but whatever she could, she would.
chay never really knew his biological mother - after all, he had been so young. in fact, he can barely remember her face at all. he can only remember his stepmother's smiles and warm hugs and her soothing voice as she read him books and sung him lullabies. he honestly could care less who she was because as far as he knew, his nanny had always been his mother. there never was anyone else.

charmillious ; they met in college, and have been friends at each others' throats since. quite a given, considering chay's devil-may-care do-all attitude in contrast to charm's own of safety-first. they're like oil in water; unable to accept one another, simply tolerant of the other. but really, deep down, they're rather close friends (they'd rather die than admit it - or at least charmillious would), sticking up for one another should one be put down by others. otherwise they'd have already cut their ties long ago and have forgotten about the other.

(in which everyone around him screams in agony at his relaxed spirit). very comfortable everywhere.
backstory summary: perhaps his grandfather was really wealthy, but ended up being swindled so his father is just a moderately average man now whose wife left him when she figured that out. and left their kid behind. which chay doesn't really mind, because he was always more attached to his nanny, who ends up being his mom later. was kinda spoiled by his nanny (mom), so he's a lazy poop without much societal experience. hence why he lets things happen rather than trying to get it himself.
