Name of the Mutato
I'd have to say-- this mutato is quite beautiful. This mutato is my dream mutato, for I love how you did the rainbow lines and how the smooth, curvy lines for the body. This mutato is just simply beautiful, amazing work. But my favorite part is probably The rainbow, for they remind me of rain. The drops going straight down, and the word rainbow has rain in it, right? Well, I didn't want it to be obvious name for this mutato, like a name that everyone would use, and I didn't want it to be random-- meaning nothing to the design at all. After a lot of thinking, I have decided to name this pretty mutato Raindrop. Shes usually called rain for short, but her name originally comes from her tail. The rainbow colors-- they come after rain. Especially with the straight lines looking a little bit like rain, it's just beautiful. So i have completely decided to name this mutato Raindrop, which I see suits her perfectly.

Hello! My name is Lilysplash. If you're into Japanese/anime-style names, call me Yuri-chan or Suiren-chan, the former meaning "lily" and the latter meaning "water lily". You may have seen me around CS, from scavenging in the free pets forum to doodling in the Oekaki and posting and critiquing writing. I am, too, auditioning for a spot as a guest artist on the Mutato staff! Naturally, I was scrolling through entries when I spotted yours. Wow! I was awed! From the moment you became a guest artist, I stalked your art- er... I mean, observed your art for any more of those lovely mutatoes! Being a musician myself (piano since kindergarten, viola since fourth grade, flute since fifth grade, and recorder), I am quite fond of this design: my interpretation of a brilliant combination of classical and pop, bringing together two musical time periods.

Well, I feel quite inferior amongst all of these other names, but after much thinking, I have made my decision: Sonata Cadence. She will be affectionately dubbed Anacrusis by close friends, as well as "Sunny" to shorten "Sonata" and "Cadence".

Surely all musicians such as myself would know the origins of her name; after all, she is musically based. I pondered many names for her myself; Cadenza, Sonatina, Concertina, Allegra... All of which are musical terms. Sonata and Cadenza were my winners, and I was caught between the decision! However, I felt as if both were too classical-era. I shortened "Cadenza" to "Cadence", finding the perfect name!
Sonata is a word in Italian, originally meaning a piece to be played rather than sung. However, its meaning and connotation evolved until the Classical era, when it came to mean a variety of musical composition for instruments. Famous Sonatas (many know the tune but not the name) would include the lovely Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven and numerous lighthearted, delightful sonatas by Mozart (Rondo Alla Turca, a famous Mozart piece for the piano, is from a sonata). I have played many sonatas myself on the piano, my first at about second/third grade. I think that this would fit her rather beautifully, as her sunny, beautiful lacy body is perfectly described with the sanguine, dulcet notes of many a sonata. Curlicue and twisting intricately, inextricable yet magnificent like the notes of a musical masterpiece, just looking at her can present the vivid mental image of a string orchestra's rich, brassy melody as it executes a piece or the sound of a philharmonic symphony, a medley of all noises, finishing a delicate composition. From the bassoon to the piccolo, the cello to the violin, the tuba to the trumpet, any instrument's notes could be at play in her labyrinthine swirls.
Cadence, however, picks up a whole new connotation. Sure, it could be short for "Cadenza", which is the term for a solo in the middle of an orchestral piece, but it certainly has a novel, pop music sort of feel. In truth, I did not derive it from the word "Cadenza", but used it as a word of its own. Cadence is a synonym for rhythm, with an edgy sort of feel and the kind that matches her wispy tail, with the air of a modern song being twisted about by the genius of a DJ. It could be the name of any twenty-first century pop icon, a singer or a celebrity, which captures her other essence wonderfully. After all, the image does provide imagery of a lively dance floor filled with people dancing to the catchy rhythm of the next big hit.
These two parts of her name, I believe, bring together the old and the new, just as her design does. I hope that you find it pleasing; only the best could fit this little mutato.

Sonata Cadence's story is not the usual- anything but that.
She would not stand if it were usual, anyway; she strives to be unique in all fashions.
The beginning of her tale begins rather sadly, as Sunny is born an orphan: she was always at the orphanage for as far as she could remember. Really, it didn't bother her, as there were plenty of friends to be made and games to be played. She never had any parents anyway, so there was nothing lost or gained. She was quite a sweetheart, sunny and optimistic as well as curious and adventurous. She is also quite feisty and impulsive despite being affable and gregarious, always impatient to jump ahead without any forethought. Her personality is quite fiery, burning bright like an incandescent flame. The strange thing was that, even without having played an instrument, she sought out music. She loved it, with a sort of bold, burning passion. Only classical music discs were available at her orphanage, but she devoured them all the same with that greed for musical intelligence.
Soon, she strived to be an artist herself. The orphanage had a rickety old piano, situated down in the basement. She snuck down there, blowing dust off of the music, trying to figure out the device herself. She started playing simple melodies, then famous pieces. The sonatas-there were piles upon piles of them- were her favorite, bright and cheery or dramatic and beautiful. Besides, they were her namesake!
Little did she know that this was a pivotal point in her lifetime. She was producing music, something that would change her forever.
Soon, however, it came time for her to go to school. Her fellow orphans were being picked off one by one to be adopted, but she remained like a stubborn weed marring the lawn. She was too spunky for her own good, adopters decided. It wasn't as if she cared what they thought! She just went on ahead to school, humming sonatas all the way. Despite her outgoing nature, she didn't make many friends. It was most likely due to the fact that she had rather low opinions on the popular mutatoes, often challenging their rule and yelling at them with flaming contempt. Her peers scurried away in her presence, not wanting to associate with the elite's bad side, leaving only two mutatoes willing to befriend her: Verity Rose, a shy, frail, timid character and Haruka, bold and clever. They formed a tight bond, a happy trio of camaraderie.
Sunny proved to be only mediocre in school. She could sit through any science course or history class, but math was not her forte. Surprisingly, the numbers just jumbled up in her presence, not making any sense. They should've, since musicians were supposed to be good at math, but she just broke the stereotype time and time again. She was okay at writing, but essays were absolutely horrid for her. She'd rather be creative and let her writing flow all over the page.
The only school program that excited her was orchestra. She quickly picked up playing the viola (violin was too high and squeaky, and she found it rebellious to pick the instrument that nobody cared about, and Verity played violin while Haruka played cello), growing into a musical prodigy. She becomes first chair in her section, rather proud of her high position. Her only musical flaws would, perhaps, be pick-up notes. She consistently jumps the gun, impatient to start the piece and never getting it quite right, earning her the teasing nickname "Anacrusis", which means a pick-up note or notes. Later on, she learned alto saxophone, much to her delight. After all, she dreamed to become professional.
Another pivotal point quickly came. She became exposed to the upbeat, fast-paced style of modern music, the techy feel of the music and strong rhythm. It thrilled her, giving her an exhilarated jolt. Her ambition changed. She wouldn't just be concertmaster, she'd be a DJ! The idea was exciting and wild, and she quickly tried to master the art of being a disc jockey. She got it right quickly, much to her enthusiasm. She mixed together pop songs and classic, creating an all new feel in her mixes. The only thing she disliked about pop was the constant theme of love. Ugh. Love was icky, and she disliked males because of their bullying. She swore never to fall in love.
The years progressed, but tragedy struck. Verity Rose, Sunny and Haruka's best friend, passed away at a young age. Sunny was heartbroken. The last words Verity had said to Sunny, at school before she had died in her sleep, was that she would make it.
Those words became her inspiration. She strived to become famous in her friend's name, becoming determined to make her fantasy become reality. Soon, she confided in Haruka that she'd escape to Hollywood after she was old enough, and that was what she did.
She fell in love briefly, just a fling, but decided that it is against her personality to go dating and gallivanting with some other mutato instead of working for her dream. It was only ever an unrequited crush, and she pushed past the obstacle. Currently, she is working towards becoming an elite musician, having gathered much attention DJing for a few parties. It's an exciting future, she believes, a mystery full of adventure.

reason for choosing the name;
amelia is a simple name; yes. but it also was the name of the first woman to fly around the globe {or attempt to, i suppose} and it holds equality and it holds power, just like this girl. the meaning of amelia is "industrious leader" or "worker". it just seems to fit this mutato, because the pattern on her body is very sweet, and simple and flowing, but the pattern on her tail is erratic and offsettingly beautiful, and that represents herself. on the outside, she's quiet; timid. but on the inside, she's teeming with ideas and rebellious thoughts.
