What Makes Them Sad?:

She cannot speak

doomed forever quiet her voice broke since birth she will never be able to make a noise. Ever since she was little she loved the thought of singing, of talking, of sharing a story to those around her and being expressive but she cannot. Not even her coat can speak for her...remembering this makes her sad, but she was grown to accept herself. Using this ability to excel in hunting and fighting. However she has found something magical, the joy of music, things that make the noises for her. If you find her home, you will see all sorts of instruments she plays, her sadness can be turned into happiness.

what makes her sad? her name is the title of a 1827 novel written by Jean Paul, in which he officially coined the term 'Weltschmerz' - of German origin composed by 'welt' (meaning world) and 'schmerz' (meaning pain). the definition of Weltschmerz is "mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state" ... and this itself is what makes this nytron sad. Seeing the state of the world and it's people, the deforestation, global warming, economic and societal failures. Selina tends to daydream a lot in her 'own little word' - literally, that she created in her mind to help her get away... however once she opens her eyes and snaps back to reality, this nytron is filled with the sadness of the slow collapse of world that had such potential.

Some of yall were pretty darn creative with this and honestly Im not sure whether thats a good or bad thing - but regaurdless, thank you for all the awesome entries! lol
