Some say I'm
too sensitive,
but truth is, I just
feel too much.
Every word,
every action, and
every energy goes
to my heart.
A royal wizard is all he wanted to be. Karma, that is. He's tried so hard in his life, but to no prevail...
"Hello! I am Karma, nice to meet you." A young man in a wizard-like outfit had come up to find a wizard school, hoping to join. His hopes were always held up high.
"Hello, Karma. Are you looking to enroll today?" Karma nodded in excitement. The woman at the counter looked quite fed up, but she was still very nice.
"Yep! I was hoping to become a royal wizard, maybe in the next month or two... Is that possible?" He was really hoping he could do this as soon as possible.
"Unfortunately, no. It will take at least half a year to become that level of skill." Karma started to show a little bit of worry, but brushed it off.
"Hm. Alright, but I hope they won't be closed for applicants when I finish..." The woman chuckled and reassured him.
"Don't worry, they are always looking for wizards. Their expectations are very high, though."
"Oh, really? Alright then."
The woman escorted Karma to a classroom, but it was empty because of how early he was.
"Where is everyone?" Karma looked around the dark room, turning on the light.
"Well, you're a little bit early today. All of us have to be here to do our work and, sometimes, stick around to tutor some young witches and wizards."
"Oh... when will they get here?"
"I wouldn't say that it would be too long before they got here." She checked her watch. "Maybe about 10 minutes? You can practice your magic outside on those dummies. There are always new wizards here to enroll every day." She pointed to a glass door down the hallway. Karma looked over, and saw some steel dummies.
"Why are they made of steel?"
"If someone is going to practice fire magic, we can't have them just burn up."
"Ohh, duh." Karma gave himself a little bonk in the head.
"So, Karma, what kind of magic do you specialize in?"
"I specialize in ice magic!" He makes little pew-pew sounds.
"Ahh, that's a difficult class. I hope you'll be able to get into the royal wizards with that one."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... I don't think the king is looking for ice wizards. But, best of luck to you! He may let it slide. Anyway, I have to go. You can practice until they get here, if you feel like it. This is usually the "classroom" where they show you the classroom you will actually be going to for your type of magic. Since you'll be doing ice, you might be in hallway B, but I'll leave that to them. See you around, Karma!" The woman waved to him and Karma waved back as she made her way back to the counter.
Karma looked down at his own watch.
"Hmm. I only have 5 more minutes to practice... I guess I'll go spend my time doing so." He made his way to the door and walked outside -- it was hot. "Gahhh... Why does summer have to be so hoooottt??" He made a little pouty face to himself. "Oh well, I'd just better start." Karma lifted his wand, and began his little chant for 'Ice spike'. He aimed his wand straight at the dummy's head, and his wand did the work. Ka-blam! The dummy's head was frozen.
"Phew! I'm not as rusty as I thought I was."
The minutes passed and it was time to go inside. He made his way back to the classroom. When he got there, there was a man sitting in a chair behind a desk, and a line of 4 other wizards and witches in training, waiting for him to finish the first person. He made his way to the end.
Once it was finally his turn, he began his little introduction.
"Hello! I'm Karma, and I am practicing to be an Ice Wizard, the class I specialize in. Which class should I be directed to?" He waited for the man to finish his paperwork and computer-work, he gave Karma a sheet of paper with the name and directions of the classroom he should attend. Thank you! I'll be on my way. The man nodded, as Karma made his way to the classroom.
There was a small group in there, and they greeted him kindly. Karma introduced himself and sat himself down, along with the others. They had their lessons about different spells and such. The teacher announced something that Karma got a little worried about; only 4 wizards will pass they requirements. The others must stay behind. There were 8 wizards in total, so Karma was worried that he would be one of the 4 failing. Luckily, he had practiced before he came to the school, so his worrying had died down a little.
Day by day, they had their lessons, each on the dummies they had outside. When it was their turn, of course. Karma had the leading grades every time, though, because he had been practicing out of school. Time had passed, and at the end of the year, Karma was still the leading wizard, and had been awarded his medal for ice wizard mastery. He was super excited and headed out to practice one more time before heading to the king for his royal wizard test. He tested each skill and power he knew before heading there.
After testing every of his 25 memorized skills, he knew he was ready. He packed his bags, with his wands and everything he needed, and headed out to see the king.
Like normal, he started with his introduction.
"Hello! I'm Karma! I'm here to try out to be a royal wizard, and I study ice magic!" The king stopped and observed the young wizard.
"Hello, Karma. So you are here to try out? Hmm... I am not usually looking for wizards or witches who study ice magic, but I'll let you have a shot. You look promising." Karma's eyes lit up at his words, thinking he might have a chance. They made their way outside, where he would show the king what he could do. "I would like to see your top 10 skills. I have a few other ice wizards who have met my expectations, so I would like to see yours. If they do not meet my expectations..." He paused in his mini speech. "you will be kicked out. No pressure. Now have a go!" Karma became worried at his words.
"OK, I will. I hope to meet your expectations!" And at that, he started off with his 10th best, until he reached his 1st best.
A little exhausted, he ran back up to the king, and excitedly asks him the question that would determine if he was in. "Did I do alright?!"
The king looked down at him, a little disappointed. "Well... I expected better. You aren't what I need. I will show you what kind of ice wizards I expect." He called out some of his ice wizards, who already started showing off as soon as they got into position. Impressed, but disappointed, Karma looked back at the king.
"Uh... Thank you for letting me... try. I will see myself out..." The king ignored him and brought his ice wizards back, while Karma walked out of the kingdom. He started to cry. But, he knew he would be able to best them one day, and the king would be jealous.
