History:
I soon discovered that the warmness coming back and forth from the bulky brown shape was my mother, and the squirming things around me were my three other siblings. My vision was not very clear, and everything was only a blur. But I made out shapes, and smells of mother were always around. My vision was clearing by hours, and soon enough I saw mother clearly as she was trying to stimulate the warm fluids below me. She was a lovely brown, and light green marks covered her body, and as I noticed, I looked just like her! And around me, my three other brothers were just the same.
We constantly squirmed over and around each other, and I always had to avoid Hungry, (I Named him that because he acted so desperate for food..) when it came for feeding time. Mother always gave Hungry some washing, while me, Claws, and Wet-Nose were to playfully fool with each other.
I named each of my siblings myself, since it suited them best. Claws had very long claws while most of us didnt, and he always scared us with them as we played. I named Wet-Nose because his nose was always dripping as if he was sick. Me and Wet-Nose were always goofing about; as if we were best friends. We even were one day let out; all four of us. I learned that the place me and my brothers had lived in was a large willow trees trunk, and as me and Claws, and Wet-Nose were finally walking, we went for a tree climbing adventure.
It was obvious Hungry was the runt; he always slept and and suckled much more than us, and grew very big boned. Me and Claws once investigated him, he smelt sour like Mom's milk, and always had his eyes shut and asleep. So we never bothered him. But we felt bad for never wanting to play with him out by the creek down from our den, but it actually never stopped us.
It was a sunny morning when we all went for a investigation around the boggy creek. It was all fun and games, and it was hilarious to see Wet-Nose fall face first into the moist earth from up top the hill, but Claws and I both too went down the same. We evenly kept pace, and all of us looked like clones since were so alike. But I must have been the first to break out of the group. Something was hopping, it was green too. And soon I realized what it was. A frog! My frog it was, and I followed it. It was moving away from our puppy pack; and I didnt take much notice. What would it taste like? I was so close too, every time it leaped I snatched it legs, but it always squirmed away. Claws suddenly came at it, and scared it away. I grunted, and started at him. But he was bigger than me, and I had to be submissive. It probably wouldnt have tasted good anyways.
Mother decided to take us hunting today, and she kept these large things from her back around us. I just noticed them; there were big, and had light green tips. I glanced back at Claws, Wet-Nose, then up at hungry who was being carried the way we all left behind months ago. We didnt have any.. Where were they? But my attention span wasnt long enough, before long my eyes were set on these large things; squares, and they had these weird creatures walking around them. They had fur only on their heads, and wore shiny stuff on their bodies, like cover up for fur. And these large things on the ground with fluid in it sloshed around, and tiny creatures with fur tufts were jumping into it, they let out shrieks and constantly made noises that were not very enjoying.
Mother was constantly jerking away, and pulling us place from place and it was irritating me to see her so conscious. But see her like this also made me conscious, and I too kept my ears up like she did. But finally we came to another big box thing, and these filmy bags were at the back. Mom helped us fit in, but we felt we didnt need the help. We all stumbled to the bags, and quietly investigated them. Mom came up to us, and indicated to be very quiet. We were.
Suddenly a sound came from my belly. Claws and Wet-Nose Stared at me, then suddenly Wet-Nose had the same happen. Claws thought it was funny, yet soon enough his tummy made the same growl. Hungry was growling, he was pawing anxiously at the filmy bags. Mom shoved him aside, and we watched her pull a claw across the bag, and it split. Horrid smells escaped from it, and we all cringed back from the smell. Mother was going to pull it away, but Hungry got there before she did, and dived into the smelly stuff. Everything spilled out, and the other three of us went to take a a bite. It wasnt bad; there was bread-crust, some hard sweet tasting things that made crunches in our mouths, and some meat. We all stuffed our bellys with the stinky stuff, and I didnt find it that bad. Claws was finishing off a chunk of meat, and Wet-Nose was contently waiting around since he finished his meal. Hungry had far before finished his meal, and I watched him do these funny things. He constantly made gaging sounds, and opened his mouth repeated times. Finally, this large amount of fluid and chunks of recently ate food sloshed out of him, and I found it quite hilarious.
Mother nosed Hungry who was cowering in the corner, letting whimpers out. We all kinda found it funny, until I too felt my tummy gripped in a powerful spasm. We left after that; our bellies full enough for the night and the rest of the day tomorrow.
I learned it was almost time for all of us to split; since mother started to leave the den more and more, day by day. Hungry was starting to get splotches on his pelt, and his eyes leaked a little pus in the morning. I felt bad for him, and wondered if he was going to make it into the real world.
Mom came back, but she ignored us all. We hadnt eaten for a while, and we always thought she was going to come back with food. But she only came back with a full belly of her own. Me, Claws, and Wet-Nose all went out one day, thinking we can find our own food. But we came back with nothing successful. But when we came back to our den, mother wouldnt let us in. She kept her eyes big, and didnt do much but stare. We had no clue what to due.
But I noticed that she was different; she as more dull then the many times I've seen her, she wasnt that rich brown. Her green marks were bright, and she just seemed.. distant. I felt distant too; I had noticed after a while that I was growing painful bumps on my back, and they werent very comfortable. And so was Claws and Wet-Nose, they both had bumps on their back.
We were all three alone, we huddle together on the colder nights since we had no where to sleep. And tats when I noticed it was time to go our ways. When morning came, we all came to find Hungry, but we only came to see him dead, and reeking with decay. With mom sadly crouched over him in grief, I felt this sad pang in my belly. Was he really dead? We came closer; but mom scared us off, and we all went away, far away from moms den. Away far enough she wouldnt find us. I was heartbroken to leave so soon. But I knew her time would soon end too, and then maybe, she will be happy with Hungry..
