username: Master of Nightmares
doll name: Kira
shadow name: Tolkien
gender: female
age:Looks really young but is around 18
personality: On the outside, Kira seems to be polite and kind. Always using big words she doesn't understand, bowing when she needs to and showing respect to just about everyone. But it is all just a lie. Turn your back on her for one second and you will be missing your wallet. That's right, Kira is a thief. Small for her age, this cheeky young woman can steal the clothes off your back and be gone without a trace. While her shadow is even more quick and agile than her, using his shagginess the same way Kira uses he polite disposition. Tolkien is the one who taught Kira her trade, and that things are not always as the seem. And who would've ever guessed who those two really are at first sight? Kira with her huge smile, her ability to laugh at everything, and Tolkien with his serious demeanor and often irritable personality. These two make quite the team.
Story:
Running. footsteps pounding on the concrete. A yell coming from behind her. "STOP THIEF!!" Came the two words, repeated every couple of frantic heart beats. The chase was on. Maybe this was what Kira loved the most about stealing, not the rewards, but almost being caught. The rush that she gets as her boots smash into the ground, propelling her forward in quick steps, the crazy swirling as she scampered between dolls, the adrenaline as it pumps through her veins, it all made for an intoxicating experience she could never get enough of.
"Kira, your work today was very sloppy." Kira's shadow's voice came from in front of her, she could see him darting between some dolls legs and she weaved through the crowd until she ran by his side.
"Thanks... alot... for the... encouragement." She replied wryly between gasps. She saw Tolkien's head tilt towards her and could feel his hidden eyes watching her.
"If you don't want to be caught then you have to up you game. And practice running, you're out of shape."
"Shut up you overgrown hairball." Her voice came out in a quick snap. She pushed her way through a thick crowd as she passed some street performer making people look like fools with cards. She grabbed the black table and threw it behind her, hoping to get ahead by a few seconds. She could hear more shouts and couldn't keep the mischievous smile off her face. This is what she lived for. She meant for the doll to see his gold pocket watch flash in her hand. She wanted this. It had been too long since she had a good chase.
"But you must learn to correct your form or we will be caught someday." Tolkien warned sternly
"Can you... criticize me when... we get out safe?!" It hurt to breathe now, but she could tell it still wasn't safe to stop, but even so she could hear the shouts of "THIEF! STOP THAT THIEF!" growing tired and farther away. She followed Tolkien as he darted into an alley his dark body all but blending in with the shadows around him. A few more confusing turns until all that could be heard were their own footsteps and gasps. Finally they came to a door Kira grabbed a key and opened the door, slipping in after Tolkien and locking the door. She turned on a light and revealed a small room which they both lived in. A mattress lay in the corner for Kira and a pile of blankets which Tolkien often bundled up in until you could only see his little nose. She plopped herself down on the mattress and pulled out the watch. It was pure gold and glittering with initials which she couldn't understand.
"Whoo, would you look at this, quite the prize." Kira said with a triumphant smile. She popped open her treasure. Only to find two items fall out. A picture of a young female doll, and a locket of her hair. "Crap. looks like this pocket watch has some priceless things in it. Geez I was hopping not to return it." She could only guess that the doll in the picture had died. Why else had someone put their picture and their hair in a pocket watch then follow a thief that long for it?
