Backstory:

A dark and seemingly empty apartment; the only light from a faintly glowing tank in the corner, was the only witness to the dark-haired figure's entrance. A slight girl in a gothic lolita dress skipped soundlessly across the room and into the bedroom. Two gunshots later, the same girl skipped happily back again, her black dress stained red. She knew she hadn't long before someone attempted to enter the apartment, but the faint glowing of the empty fishtank intrigued her. Moving with the grace of a cat, she appeared before the tank and peered in. A tiny winged cat stared back with glowing blue eyes, lying on the bare floor of the empty fishtank. The girl grinned, snatching up the tank and springing from the window. She could hear the baying of police dogs outside.

Rei
Rei had been having a boring night. Things had been boring for a while after she'd been caught and sold to some human who clearly hadn't been told she ate nectar, if the amount of anchovies in the tank was anything to go by. So, naturally, she was curious when she saw a young girl in a frilly dress break in through the window. She was even more curious when she heard gunshots inside the room the human who owned her slept in. But when the strange girl picked her up and ran for the window, she wasn't curious. She was downright terrified.
"PUT ME DOOOOOWN!" She yowled in horror. Was this girl mad? Humans couldn't fly!

Random Police Dog
A unearthly shriek and a slight figure leapt from a high window, landing in a cat-like crouch. I stared, incredulous. No one could have jumped from that window and survived, then my instincts kicked in. The quarry was in front of me; I had a visual of a small girl with one grey eye and one blood red eye. She had long wavy dark brown hair and blood red highlights and was wearing a black lolita dress with white lace and purple ribbon. One sleeve was tattered and torn. I could smell blood again; her clothes were covered in it. Under one arm, the girl carried an empty fish tank.
Despite all this, she was smiling. I whimpered, confused by this girl who smelt of cat and her supernatural skills. My partner tried to urge me forward, but the girl was already gone.

Amaya
Back in her small apartment, the assassin let the cat-creature out of it's prison. The small feline flew in circles for a while, then sat on her head. Amaya of the Darkness smiled, liking this small bug-cat.
"Hey, little felid. Do you want anything to eat?"
The cat flew to the window of the balcony, where a lonely flowerpot sat.
"You eat flowers?"
The cat paused for a second, then hesitantly nodded, as if accepting the answer was kind of right.
Amaya opened the balcony door, and the bug-cat flew to the flowers, then soared upwards, into the sky.
"Hey, wait!"

Rei
Now her hunger was sated, Rei wanted to get out of there; away from the strange girl with the mismatched eyes who was covered in blood. She flapped her tiny insect wings and flew upwards, but stopped at the girl's shout. She turned her head, to see the girl looking genuinely disappointed.
"Are you going?" The girl sighed sadly.
Rei bobbed up and down so the human would get her meaning. "Yes." She mewled.
"Please don't."
The Marble Cat turned completely, flying back to sit on the girl's head again.
"Fine, I'll stay. But you need to get more flowers." The cat wrinkled her nose.
The girl laughed, then stopped as she realised she had understood the cat.
"You can TALK?"
Rei looked startled "Wait, WHAT?"
