Rei is japanese kid at soul and his absolutely favorite hobby is keeping, and fighting, Horned Beetle Pets!
A big sport in Japan (what do you think Pokemon is based on? on the favorite Japanese children pastime, fighting beetles!), beetle fighting is a very popular hobby and Rei is right on the hype! He loves keeping all the little crawly bugs and raising them from eggs or larva, often spending days prowling the woods with a butterfly net and small garden shovel, to find cool new beetle buddies to keep. And it always makes him excited to see his lovingly raised little champions fight in the ring! Fighting beetles is a perfectly humane sport - beetles dont hurt each other when they fight - they only try to pick the other one with their horns to throw him off the branch!

He adores Spike the artist beetle blog and dreams to make one like this for one of his own beetles, and he's carefully on lookout for his beetle babies to develop any talent or cute habit!

i've been not in the best headspace lately unfortunately so my dumb butt's been taking an eternity for everything which...isn't a valid excuse really BUT ):

I haven't heard of beetle fighting before honestly (which is a little silly of me probably aaah) but that really stuck out to me and I loved how hyped Rei is about it! i loved the child-like wonder in ur form and hgfdfgh that made me happy to read ;o; ! take good care of rei !

In Japan fighting beetles were a big thing, they were everywhere
