kei fujikawa is a first year student at the prestigious hero school, yuuei. she is training to become a pro hero !

fujikawa is a girl of tall physique. she is taller than an average fifteen year-old, reaching 163 cm in height! from a distance, fujikawa looks slim and lanky, creating the illusion that she is weak; instead, she is rather muscular, more so in the upper body than lower. her appearance is the result of her quirk - her skin is a greyish shade, and she has luminous, completely white eyes that's similar to the gemstone opal. despite this mutation, she is able to see perfectly fine, even better than the average person in fact. kei has natural blue hair, as another alteration due to her quirk. it seems to shimmer in the light and is rather lustrous, but very choppy. she will usually wear it in twintails, but sometimes lets it down when she's too lazy. more than usual, she is peppered with small scratches and cuts, especially around her hands. this is because despite careful control, occasionally, stray stones or piece of glass will find its way to her - as if her focus is lost, she can unknowingly attract small debris that she has lost control of. this will usually happen when she (tries to) manipulate more small debris than she can handle.

kei is usually a cheery presence, often trying to find the good in everything. she has been described by her classmates as a "carefree girl", as she seems to be without any worries. the truth is, she has many things to worry about but stubbornly refuses to acknowledge them, preferring to live life in the present than think about her future. she is almost shameless, and hard to fluster. fujikawa has always been told to say what is on her mind, so sometimes, she will say things without thinking ahead, which can accidentally and unintentionally be mean or rude. she doesn't mean to though! she just can't stop herself.

her quirk is shards. she is able to pick up small (usually broken) debris and manipulate it to her liking. however, she cannot control anything further than a maximum radius of 10 metres. because her quirk only enables her to wield debris, she is most useful after traumatic events such as earthquakes, or anything destructive conducted by villains/heroes alike; most powerful in urban areas where glass and is commonly found. the best material for her to manipulate is glass - it is lighter than stone and more yielding than other matters. her favourite ability is forming glass shields, usually through reassembling pieces of glass to create a solid wall for allied heroes or bystanders.

when in school, fujikawa sports the regular female school uniform, but prefers to unbutton the top and exclude the red school tie for the purpose of looking cool. her current hero costume is a simple black jumpsuit with high boots. she sports a fashionable belt that compliments the colour of her hair, and wears flexible gloves that go up to her upper arm. she hasn't settled on a permanent design yet. at the moment, she doesn't use any support items, although she's considering utilizing one in the future.

her hero name is iridescent, which is 'the phenomenon of certain surfaces that appear to gradually change colour as the angle of view or the angle of illumination changes'. it is derived from the idea that although she originally intended to become a fighting hero for the sole reason of seeking reputation upon the ranks & gaining popularity, she found that protecting innocents was more emotionally rewarding. for this, the hero iridescent strives to defend civilians on the scene; her duty is to shield those bystanders from harm's way.

however, this does not mean that she is incapable of being on the offensive. her quirk in the manipulation of debris is very useful, especially if the debris were to be a sharp material such as glass. iridescent's range cannot reach more than 10 metres at the time being, so she hopes to improve this at her time training at yuuei. this does not render her useless, as although she cannot freely control debris past that 10 metre range, she is able to throw debris powerfully, even if she can no longer control it past her reach. she will get fatigued if she tries to control too many, and even though she is training herself to exceed her current limit, she has found that in the meanwhile she could just use glass larger in surface area. this is still difficult and less effective, but less taxing than large amounts of small debris.

4:10 PM / after last day of jr high sch

the sun seeped out into the silver reflection of the water, like a stain of fire doused by the cool of the ocean. it had begun its graceful descent a few hours ago, and now it was a portrait no artist could capture; the clouds lazily grazing the amber sky, the breeze brushing over the azure that seemed endless. sitting on a sturdy stone wall overlooking the waves that ripped the sandy beach, kei fujikawa hummed softly to herself, twisting and twirling a small piece of glass in her hand, the once-jagged edges worn to a smooth surface by the unforgiving fingers of the sea.

"oi!! fujikawa!!" a voice called behind her, jovial and laughing. kei turned with a smile upon her face.

"i didn't think you would get here, in time," she called back, "i was turning into an old man!"

the other girl whacked her on the shoulder, a playful gesture. she was shorter than kei, but twice as fierce. sitting down beside her by hauling herself up onto the rock next to kei (with a jokingly irritated response that the sharp stones were stabbing into her butt), her eyes shone brightly as she took in the sight of the sunset, its magnificence sinking into her. she picked at her tie, the bright red emphasized more in the scarlet light of the sun. then she whistled.

"he's late today, isn't he? not today. any other day!" the girl sighed impatiently, checking the time on her phone. "that lazy ass," the phone shone 4:13 PM.

fujikawa exhaled quickly through her nostrils. looking towards the fading blue of the sky, she spun the glass shard in the air, a faint smile on her face. "don't worry, don't worry! hinata hinata hinata." she smirked, "your prince in shining armour will be here soon! just in time!" to which the other girl scrunched up her face, like she had just swallowed a sour lemon. it set them both in laughing fits again.

"ryota !!!" the girl, hinata, gasped for air. "亮太 !!! (stout and strong)"

"guys!!" this voice startled both of them that they almost slipped off the stone wall in surprise. a pair of striking blue eyes met theirs, accompanied by a confused and yet ecstatic expression. "why are you laughing?? what are we laughing at??"

the girls stared at the boy with messy bedhead and a chaotically buttoned shirt. then, unable to hold it in any longer, they burst into laughter and tears, which only further baffled the boy.

after a few minutes of recovery, their faces aching with smiling, all three friends sat down. on the grey wall of rock, above the sandy dunes below, the wild wind of summer grazing their cheeks, tugging at their hair and shirts. and even as they were all tittering and smiling, exchanging banter and gossip, they knew that they could prolong it no further. the future was harsh, but it was unavoidable.

"so," hinata began, her voice subtly becoming higher. something kei had learnt to note, since... she looked up. unable to finish, the other girl just stared off into the distance, the smile she bore a few minutes ago now a faint ghost upon her face. ryota cleared his throat, breaking the silence that had oozed into the cracks of their conversation.

"this is the last time we see you," he said slowly, as if the words were strange on his tongue, "right?"
the three friends sat in a silence that was only made comfortable by each other's presences. and in that silence, ryota's words set deep into kei, as if saying it out loud had finally made it unpreventable and the reality had unveiled right then and there. she clenched the piece of glass tightly.

"i mean," she hesitated, trying to find a correct response, but no matter what she said, the truth would still be clear. and so she settled for the truth, and bluntly said, "yeah. yeah, we probably won't. " see each other again. "not like this. not everyday, or after school. this is this last time we see each other, like us right now."

another round of silence, as her words settled into them. the soft lapping of the waves down below was the only sound for a while, as the silence that hang around them said all that needed to be said. the silence provided a comfort - time for them to accept their emotions.

then, after a long while, when the sun was at last just a sliver of light burning above the horizon of the sea, "text us okay!!" they laughed at her, slapping her back. she smiled. there was so much to be said, but it was best not to ruin such a lovely sunset.

hinata's eyes sparkled. "i still wish yuuei wasn't so far away. i know you'll be coming back for holidays but- those are so short." then, attempting to lighten the conversation, "don't leave me with ryota!!" she wiped her face with a smile, as the boy punched her shoulder with a light-hearted yet weak oi!

looking out at the endless cerulean sea, at the exquisite intricacy of the setting sun, there was something in kei fujikawa that wished that this day, this moment could last forever. beneath the sunkissed sky, on a wall of grey. she twirled the glass one last time, before gently setting it down beside her. kei turned to ryota with a mischievous smile.

backstory and/or hobbies!;; Kagami was always a clumsy girl, tripping over her mother's vases and shattering them to pieces. It really didnt help when she found out her quirk was to control these shards, as this was just another way of getting hurt. Constant supervision was necessary when she was around, as some light-hearted fun could quickly turn into a disaster if not dealt with quickly enough.

With help, however, she quickly mastered her quirk and learnt the limits. Depsite this, when distracted, she can draw broken pieces towads her suddenly, often resulting in injury. Luckily, due to an effect by her father's quirk, she has a very high pain tolerence, though this can cause injuries to go undetected, resulting in infections.

She knows she'll never really be a first-on-the-scene kind of hero, her quirk will always be more useful after some damage has been dealt, and this has kind of slowed her pace in life. She doesnt feel the need to rush, and this mindset has unfortunetly spread to her day to day activities. Procrastination is extremely common, which does nothing good for her grades.

other notes;; Her parents are quite overprotective of her, due to her clumsy nature and quite dangerous quirk. They approve of her choice to be a hero though.

Her mother shares her quirk, though her father has a 'Ghost' quirk, featuring the same skin and eyes, and a high tolerence to pain. He can also go incorporeal, though Kagami cannot.

Her hair is made of crystalized fiber; very tough and a pain to brush. Its iridescent though, shimmering in the sunlight.
