✥ Electronic dance music ✥
This music is the only way to get Riya bouncing and dancing within a crowd. She absolutely cannot stand whiny boy bands and what she calls "poser music" which is pop or alternative. Her music is required to be upbeat and lively.

✥ Death metal ✥
On the other side of the coin, Riya really enjoys some heavy death metal when she feels outraged. It lets her blow off some steam, which she often needs to do. She was introduced to it by her first boyfriend in high school.

✥ Anime ✥
Her love of anime is one of the hobbies she always hid from others in school, due to her fears of going from popularity to being an outcast. Any anime is game for her, from the more mature ones to the more tame kid ones frequenting her television when she is around her family.

✥ Cream puffs ✥
Her obsession with these sugar-filled balls of joy stems from her frequent visits to her grandmother when her parents decided not to do their jobs. Overall it is not from the taste but from the nostalgia of baking them with her grandma, who she adores more than her parents, but Riya does not to dwell on such horrific memories and stressful times.

✥ Birds ✥
When she was a child, she was only ever allowed a rather aggressive hamster pet, so when she became an adult she was in a rush to get a real pet. She started by looking at local pet shops, but she realized she could not get a big pet like a dog or a cat because her apartment at the time was practically the size of a shed, so she settled with a bird, a cockatoo named Max. Often she lets him fly freely around her home and she has no fear that he'll fly away because in the end he wants food, which she provides. Her favorite birds consist of crows, eagles, and owls.

✥ Painting ✥
Riya is not by any means good at painting, but there has been some improvements. She was a bit of a perfectionist so she often held back herself, but she finally was inspired by a rather famous painter's works and advice not only on painting but life as a whole. Now even if she thinks her painting will not come out looking good, she will still try because it's better to try and fail than not try at all.

✥ Video games ✥
Her favorites are competitive shooters, but she'll occasionally enjoy a more relaxing and single-player game which are common in the indie game industry. She likes cooperating in games most of all, so a co-op puzzle game would be her ideal fit. Riya's an ultimate hipster, though she denies it, she often has a better time playing older games than new and popular ones.

✥ Cheesy romance scenarios ✥
There's nothing she loves more than going to the movie theaters to see a romantic film with her closest friends, the cheesier and more cliche the better. Gender typical as it is, her one dream is to surround herself with a partner, a few kids, and some friends to stop by on the holidays. She cannot be alone if she has a family.

Dislikes
✥ Playing the piano ✥
As a child she had a tutor for the piano, as her mother wanted her to take the hobby up perhaps as a future career. It left a terrible taste in her mouth not only because of her lack of coordination but because of the tutor that often made her not want to even try. Musical instruments aren't her thing.

✥ Swimming ✥
There's nothing she detests more than wet fur. Showers and maybe romantic baths with a special someone are all she can do. Plus, she still has a fear of the deep end of the pool, even though she knows there won't be a shark there her rather child-like imagination runs wild. Don't even get her started on the ocean, she's okay with laying out on the beach, but the moment the salty water gets in her mouth she wants to vomit.

✥ Being alone or excluded ✥
Throughout high school and college she surrounded herself with many friends so she did not feel lonely or abandoned. Due to this, she is very clingy and desperate for attention, something her parents never gave her.

✥ Indecisiveness ✥
One of her biggest pet peeves is when she asks someone a question and they respond with "I don't know," as if there is nothing on their mind, which is ironic because she is currently enrolled in a community college and she still has not figured out what job she wants to go after, if any. However, she has some ideas, just not the ambitions to go for any of them. She's at a crossroads in life and is afraid she'll make the wrong decisions.

✥ Hot weather ✥
Despite living in the south, she absolutely hates the heat because she cannot wear her favorite striped hoodies, fur-lined jackets, and stylish boots. Summer fashion is rather lazy and boring, she thinks. The goal is to have a cabin in a snow-layered village with a roaring fireplace and someone to share it with.

✥ Books ✥
Writing and reading are some of her weak points. She's rather slow at both, and it's always been that way, plus she feels that books are not as interactive as television or gaming. It takes too much time and dedication for her and she has a very fast life, as it is she can barely fit in her current hobbies in her tight schedule.

✥ Annoying workers at stores ✥
Riya is not socially anxious or awkward by any means, but she absolutely cannot stand the employees at the mall she frequents who make it a point to consistently check up on her as she shops. She feels that if she checks out a store, a worker trying to start conversation every minute is distracting her from what she wants to buy and she ends up getting frustrated. It's even worse when multiple workers swarm her like flies to cow dung. The worst offenders to her are the make-up and perfume stores so when she can she chooses to shop online.

to be in someone’s mind. to have complete
control. it’s like the thrill of being near the
executioner’s switch. knowing that at any
moment, you could throw it, but knowing you
never will… but you could, never isn’t the
    right word, because i could… and i might…
    i probably will.
