What do they desire, but cannot obtain?: The stars beckoned like a friend on the other side of a gaping chasm. Desire to follow them burned deep inside him, but the chasm remained. An uncrossable barrier to what he desired most; to travel the stars. The ground under his feet felt like chains weighing him down, all while the stars above beckon to him.

Gunner peered at the grand entrance staircase. By the bushes he hid, eyes sharp
like a predator. He then glimpsed at the grandfather clock by the wooden castle
door. Eleven fifty-eight, he mumbled.

Why did he get caught in all of this?

With the doors held open, he heard the loud party inside. It was not his cup of tea -
he was a canine, after all - but it was hers, and who was he to judge? By then, he
could hear her voice, and his ears perked up to listen. Meanwhile, he glanced at the
clock - eleven fifty-nine.

Just another Cinderella story, and he wanted to be the prince.

A pair of heels stomped towards the entrance, and he saw her: beautiful as she was,
holding up her dress as she was rushing to her carriage. Gunner was there to watch
over her. With her rushing, she accidentally left her glass slipper, and he was alarmed;
his feet ready to spring, but alas - the real prince! He had beaten Gunner to the slipper,
his one way ticket to her, and he was shattered.

What was he? A simple canine, with a love for a girl he could not confess to.

friends- other kals are mainly based off of cats; when a dog was brought into the community, the kalons went wild. there was chaos. no matter how hard he tried and how hard he begged and proved loyalty, he was alone. kals would stare and panic when he roamed the streets, fleeing, when all he needed was a friend. maybe someday.

Lawrence cleared the contents of the table noisily with a resounding sigh, slumping into the grand wooden chair beside it. When would he find it?
It’s not as if he hadn’t scoured the oceans- as if the very nap that held its secrets was tucked so carefully into his satchel.
His crew was tired- he could tell. Surely they all loved him... but how much longer could they so tirelessly chase something with no results? He could not subject his friends to this- they were more a ragtag band of misfits seeking adventure than ‘pirates’. Still, this thirst for adventure left them tired, shunned, and empty handed. He was... sorry, Lawrence had never wanted to let his crew suffer at the hands of his own ambitions. He drew a large paw over his face, resigning himself for the night. Tomorrow, they would follow the same subcontious will for adventure which left them battered... but for tonight, he would tend to his crew. They may be exhausted, empty handed, and hopeless, but they were still family. Together, they would find adventure, something more, the contents which this map so carefully hid.

[They desire company the most because they are a very confident Kalon and other despise this about her and discard her away from the others. She is such a loving character though, and has still not had a chance to show her true colours to anybody.
