It was a normal farm day, there was a nice breeze, and the sun was shining brightly. Two kits were chasing each-other. "Bet 'cha can't catch me!" Alexander laughed at his sister, who was playfully chasing after him. Eventually they both stopped, to take a breath. Arietta huffed, giggling. "You are quite fast Alex." She looked around the area, and then back at Alexander. Alexander let out a deep chuckle. "Hey, why don't we check out that forest in the far back of the barn?" He tilted his head. Arietta's eyes lit up as he spoke those few words. "Sure! I always wondered what was back there.." She said as her brother took her hand. They then began to trail off, wandering into the woods. It was dark, as trees covered the sunny sky. Arietta let go of her brother's hand, trailing off. "Wooah! Look at this Alex!" The kit said in awe as she signaled her brother over. When Alexander walked over, they both stood there in amazement. What the two were seeing was a hedgehog like creature. It had a dull green like pelt, speckled with yellow. It's beady black eyes looked up at the two, it seemed to be either abandoned or lost. Arietta made a small "awh" noise as she softly picked up the creature. "Alex.. can we keep him?" The younger sister peered over at him. Alexander gulped, nodding. "Yeah sure! But.. how are we gonna hide it from others?" He stuttered out softly. Arietta held the creature close. "We'll keep it in my room. Or in the safest part of the barn. A spot where others won't find it. I promise that anyone won't find it!" She really wanted to keep this creature, but she also wanted to reassure herself and her brother that they could keep it protected and unseen by others. "Let's head home then shall we?" Alexander said, walking with his sister back to the barn. "Alright.. now where to hide the animal..?" He questioned, sitting down on a stack of hay. Arietta sat down by him. "Maybe in my room? I have a nice little nook area we could keep 'im.." She said as she pet the creature's head softly. "Poor 'lil guy.." Arietta would do anything to keep this unknown creature safe, it was so delicate. Alexander stood up, stretching. "Yeah.. that would be a good idea." He nodded in agreement to what she said, and he watched as she stood up. Arietta nodded. "We can keep this little guy safe. I know we can." She purred confidently, smiling. They both walked inside the house, stepping upstairs, hiding the creature as they quickly went up. Alexander looked at her. "Are you going to put it there?" He pointed to a small comfy nook in the corner of Arietta's room. "Yep! Right there." Arietta smiled, setting the creature down gently and petting it. It let out a small cooing noise as the two siblings smiled at each-other. (497 words.)
