When you try your best.
We can only perceive three dimensions of physical space, with the fourth dimension being time. Space and time is the enviro
nment in which we dwell, the domain in which we live and thrive. We are all limited to this four dimensional reality, with no
knowledge of how to experience the fifth dimension. The capacity to pattern this four dimensional reality differs from one to
the other, whether it be through music, cinema or media. As a young Kalon, Elijah was never aware of how he could pattern t
he space in which he lived. To put it simply, he didn't know his purpose. However, Coldplay had the ability to change all of thi
s.
"Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you."
Sitting peacefully at home armed with crayons and a colouring book, the lyrics of Coldplay's 'Fix You' ran through the eardrum
s on the young Kalon. Unknowingly to him, something deep within him had began to flicker. He subconsciously started to beco
me more involved with the music industry: learning song lyrics, tapping to the beat, even to the point where he stared as a cl
arinet player in a band. No matter how many songs he learnt, beats he tapped or pieces he performed, the distinctive Coldpla
y lyrics were always in the back of his thoughts. They repeated themselves in times of hardship, happiness, and loneliness. Mu
sic made him feel something that nothing else could make him feel. As this feeling pumped through his veins faster and harde
r, he started to become aware of the impact his musical identity was having on his life. Then, it clicked.
It was like someone had revved his engines or smashed some common sense straight into the centre of his forehead. Elijah rea
lised that music is a pattern slice of both time and space. It's a subjective experience that you're able to step into, meaning it
unfolds in the space in which we actually live and breath- the four dimensional reality. The power of rhythm enables a musicia
n to create a collective, synchronised experience. Upon hearing it, it seemingly loops around in a never-ending cycle which pa
tterns space and time itself. Everybody who listens to this rhythm is then invited to step into it: everyone is synchronised, eve
ryone is one. It is at that moment of collective ecstasy that music purges us, we become infinite with music- the fourth and fi
nal known dimension. In this moment of infinity, music can make a whole community feel one thing at one time. If Elijah could
brighten the mood of another with a simple, looping rhythm, wouldn't that be the greatest purpose?
For a young Kalon, this sudden realisation hit him like a hard like a shipwreck. Ever since that day, deep research was done in o
rder to find out how he could incorporate music into therapy. How could he generate a collective experience so he could make
those around him feel safe, happy and comfortable in their own skin? Well, that was the job of a music therapist. However, he
only played on instrument- the clarinet. Music therapists needed to be fluent in a minimum of three instruments for the conven
ience of finding the right one for the right client. Every year for Christmas, Elijah would revive a music box which represented
his unwillingness to give up. However, it was a struggle for Elijah since he was so young he had other commitments such as stud
y and his social life; plus, it was eventually very taxing on his parents. Upset at the outcome he had achieved at the end of his
schooling life, Elijah gave up on his dream occupation. Now, he has a ginormous collection of wind-up music boxes hidden unde
r his bed, unseen by the world.

- Althea: very helpful to him and his studies. She's been alive since roughly the late 1700s and fluent in many languages. She doesn't know too much about the "dead" ones, but she knows how languages have changed over time since she's experienced it firsthand.
wipp
etymologist???
- loves languages and learning them, but prioritises old dead ones instead of languages that might have helped him out of this mess now (travels a lot and gets very flustered when he cant communicate)
- nerd as heck
- lowkey into philosophy too and gets way too caught up in him own thoughts
- sometimes struggles to roll out of bed, blankets tied around his legs. so in frustration, tried to kick them off and ended up falling onto the floor with a screech instead. oOPS he's clumsy
- often wonders if he's just an old man trapped inside a younger mans body
- colourblind maybe?? hates to admit it and gets very embarrassed about it
- BIG believer in treat others as you would like to be treated
- no one knows but there's a ginormous collection of wind-up music boxes hidden under his bed (always wanted to be a music therapist but failed miserably)
