xxx“Today is the day I finally turn 18. I am finally ready to move out, and say goodbye to my father. My camera, journal, and clothes are packed and ready to go. My flight is waiting for me, and I cannot stay much longer. I have already said goodbye to my father, who is laying in bed asleep. I hope Nanny comes soon, as it’s getting close to my father’s dinner time, and he cannot walk by himself any more. She promised to check in on him often, and tend to his every need. I trust her.”
xxx“My flight has been delayed for more than 12 hours now. I can’t believe I had to rush for this. I might as well just not even bother leaving, but I’ve been waiting for so long I can’t just leave… though maybe my father would appreciate me coming back.
xxxEarlier, I got a call from Nanny, and she said my father is doing well. I trust her.”
xxx“I got a call from Nanny. She sounded worried, but she assured me that everything was alright, and I didn’t need to come home. It’s been 2 hours since her last call, and I haven’t heard anything since. My plane just landed, so I hope I will get to board soon. Whatever was bothering Nanny will probably fix itself, since God is watching them. I trust her.”
xxx“I guess there is something wrong with the plane engine, which is why we can’t board yet. They seem to be working on getting us another plane, which is annoying me to no end. I decided to call Nanny to check up on her and my father, but there was no answer on the phone. Maybe she wasn’t there at the moment. I’ll call again in a few minutes, as I trust her to get back to me.”
xxx“I am currently in a cab going back home. I called Nanny, and she said there was something wrong with my father. She said he wasn’t waking up. She suggested since my flight was delayed, that I come back home. I was hesitant at first, but she said she’d do everything that she could to try and wake up my father. I’m going home regardless. I’ll find another flight.”
xxx“I’m shaking too much to write right now… but I will just for this once. The doctor just came in and he’s currently checking up on my father. It’s midnight now. I’ve been waiting outside the room for a long time, though I can barely read the clock. I hope my father is okay…”
xxx“It’s been 6 days since my father passed away. Nanny did everything she could to save him that night while I was still at the airport. I’m glad the plane didn’t come, since I wouldn’t have been able to give him an actual goodbye Something happened to my father’s liver overnight, which was causing the rest of his organs to fail. Being curious, I checked my father’s medications and a couple days were missing from when he should have taken them. Nanny ‘forgot’ to have my father take his pills, which is why he died. I can’t believe I trusted her.”
xxx“I have officially decided that I will not leave my current home, and that i will stay where my father died. The funeral went fine, and Nanny wasn’t there, even though it’s not like I cared too much. His friends and my friends were there, and everything went fine. I’m home now, in an empty house. I have yet to start packing up my father’s things, though I’m not sure if I have enough power to do that anyway. I was looking through his stuff however, and I noticed his first hang drum. God sent me a sign, so I ran with the drum to his bedroom where his bed still lies. I sat down on the bed with the drum in my lap and I began to play the first melody he taught me. I played for a long time, and it seems like if I don’t play, there is just silence in the world. Writing is making me feel like there is still silence. So I shall play.”
xxx“After a couple weeks of practicing, I took a cab to the most populated city in my country, St. Gallen, where I would perform for the first time. Before settling in a spot, I explored around the city with my drum case in hand, looking at all the others passing by, tourists taking pictures, and the gorgeous buildings that towered over me. I decided to go to the most populated sites, outside of the Abbey Library. I made sure I got permission to play before I did of course. Once I was set up, I sat down, closed my eyes, and started to play. I heard all the people gathering around me, the coins and bills falling into my case, and the cameras who were recording me. I was able to block out all the noise by thinking about playing on my father's bed. Playing there, playing for him. It was 10 AM to 5 PM I played, with breaks in between. During one of my breaks, I was able to scout out a place to look for apartments in St. Gallen. I know I would be leaving my old home behind, but it would be awhile before I moved officially, but for now, I think I will be just fine doing what I do best.”
