so I asked astral and here's the reply;;

HP is for both the trainer and pokemon. You can up your amount of daily HP per battle. So you start out with 40 HP and the more you go on, the more HP you will acquire ;3 Meaning that you can eventually start a day with 100 HP instead of 40 regardless of the pokemon you use.

So basically HP is for the trainer, hope that helps!
