Who Am I And Why Am I Here?
Hi! I'm Firedancer77, a new-ish member of the rpw community! I currently own three rpws, two of which were gifted to me and one who was a custom, and I would really love to have this amazing girl (as that's what I imagine her being) join my little group! When I saw her, I loved her. She is super cute, and her colors are very amazing. I really hope that I'll be the one who gets to give her a home, but I'm excited either way to see this girl around! c:
Name
Colorado, after the Colorado desert, as she honestly reminded me of deserts (nope, not desserts cx) and sand.
Gender and Sexuality
Colorado is female, and she is heterosexual.
Occupation
Colorado's occupation may be seen as a bit weird to some. She is a desert explorer, traversing the sand and mapping things out.
This dream began when Colorado was a small child and read a book about a desert explorer. It spiked her interest, and she began to look into it more, reading more and more about it. As she grew older, her fascination began to fade though, and she moved on. Her toys, books, and other things having to do with her love of the desert and exploring were packed away, replaced with stuff more in the area of what she had now fallen in love with. Theater. She participated in more and more plays and musicals, and went to college to become an actress for not just musicals and plays, but for movies and other things of that nature too. Once graduated, she headed out into the world to start her career, with big hopes and dreams.
However, getting jobs as a newly graduated actress was harder than Colorado would've thought. Because she'd had no experience, she was often passed up on major roles. More often than not, she was just a nameless extra who was in a movie or TV show for a few scenes. After a long time and some rocky moments, however, she finally got what she thought had to be her lucky break. She had scored the leading role in a movie.
The character she played was a desert explorer. And the more acting Colorado did, the more she found herself once again falling in love with the desert and the childhood dreams she had shelved. And so, once they finished the movie, she decided to stop her career in acting, even though she was now known. She turned down the offers she had gotten for other movies, and set out to train to become a proper desert explorer, like she'd dreamed about as a pup.
Personality
Colorado is a survivalist. There is no doubt about it. She is always ready for disaster, and is well studied up on what to do in emergencies. While she is an extrovert, she tends to seem more introverted at first, mainly because she is very nervous talking to people and isn't super confident socially. However, she is very confident in her field of work, and will talk for hours about it. She also is very musical, although she doesn't show this a lot now that she's gone into the field of exploration. She is rather serious most of the time, not really liking to waste time. So, if she feels you are a waste of time, she will not hesitate to move on. However, while she may seem a bit cold because of this, this is also a sort of defense mechanism.
Hobbies
Colorado's hobbies are all the following list.
  • Desert-Related Activities
    • Cacti-Gardening
    • Pouring over maps of deserts
    • Reading desert-related books
  • Animal-Related Activities
    • Animal Shelter volunteering
      • Whenever she's home, that is
    • Pet-Sitting
      • Again, whenever she's at home
      • A bit of weird hobby, but she considers it to be a hobby
Pets
Colorado actually has two Common Kingsnakes as pets. She often will have someone take care of them while she is away, but loves them very dearly. They are both male, and are named Monte and Sonoran, after two different deserts.

Name:
Natashia
(Pronounced nuh-TOSH-yuh)
When I looked at her, I thought she looked like a Natasha, but when I looked at the archives and found an RPW with that name, I then went off in search of the name closest to Natasha that I could find. When I found Natashia, I said it and looked at her picture, and found that it fit her even better than Natasha had! :D The meaning of the name - "born on Christmas day" - is also very pretty, and makes this beautiful name all the more lovely.

Gender:
Female

Romantic and Sexual Orientation:
Recipromantic Heteroromantic Demi-Heterosexual
Image Image Image

Occupation:
Astronaut
Having gone to school to become a psychiatrist, upon getting her degree, Natashia decided it just wasn't for her. After going through all that work, she decided to change, and do what her heart was telling her to do - become something greater. She'd always loved exploring, and decided she'd go back to learn how to become an astronaut. The training was very difficult, but Natashia was never one to back down from a challenge, and she took it on head-first. She counts her accomplishment of finishing the training in record time as one of her largest accomplishments in life, and is very proud of this accomplishment of hers. She adores anything having to do with space, and loves being able to go up in the atmosphere every so often to see the stars shimmering around her. She loves being able to go to the moon and observe its functions and cycles, as well as being able to look at other things in the solar system up close and personal, if not being able to touch them with her own four paws. Being an astronaut has taught her so much about the universe as a whole, and Natashia has a deeply-rooted respect for the universe and all the planets, stars, and solar systems within it - even if she's only ever been to see a few planets, some stars, and one solar system. Natashia counts it as a blessing that she found out what she wanted to do with her life so quickly - it was as if the puzzle pieces just fit together, and she knew what she wanted to do with her own life after so many years of looking. She thinks of herself as blest at being able to see things most RPWs can't even dream about seeing, and counts herself as lucky at being able to see the amazing sights she's seen and having been able to experience all the wonderful things she's been able to experience.

Hobbies:
Star-gazing
When she's not working, Natashia is home with her telescope, mapping the stars she can see from her attic, bedroom, and rooftop. She loves looking up at the heavens at the glowing balls of gas, so beautifully-decorating the dark, velvety sky. Staring at the lovely stars dotting the blackness calms her down - plotting them keeps her entertained during her long nights of insomnia.

Looking up research related to space and space anomalies
When she's not looking up to the heavens, Natashia is either in the library or on the internet, looking into any and all of the odd space anomalies that she can find. Looking at things that don't quite seem normal is something that Natashia has always done and enjoyed doing. She looks into the research-able aspect of it first, and if she doesn't have any luck - which is sometimes the case - she'll look at the conspiracy theorists, just for fun. She often laughs at the crazy ideas they have, and honestly gets a kick out of reading what some of these wolves can think up.

Theme Songs:
Galantis - Runaway (U & I) and Demi Lovato - Confident

Favorite Soundscape:
Stardust

Personality:
Natashia may look sweet, demure, and quiet, but she is honestly the very opposite! She is loud-mouthed, opinionated, and strict. She doesn't take any baloney from anybody, and if you give her some excuse for not showing up when you told her you were showing up, she won't just be cross with you - she'll be mad enough to start yelling. She'll probably bite and snap, if angered enough. Now, these extremely angry moments generally come after not getting enough rest at night, and are not the norm for her. Generally, she is just opinionated and strict. She doesn't take any backlash from those underneath her, and demands respect out of her subordinates. She isn't unjust, however, and those that serve underneath her are usually grateful to be placed under her care than someone else's care - at least they know that she'll be fair in assessing them, unlike other RPWs, who would show favoritism in an unfair manner.

Ornery and spunky, Natashia walks with a sway to her hips and a briskness in her walk. She holds her head high and doesn't take any flak from anybody - trying to double-cross her will not end well for you. She does not tolerate laziness, as she is very driven herself. She refuses to accept lateness, and if you aren't punctual, you'll be fired without a second thought from her. Her tolerance levels regarding backtalk are nonexistent - if you think it's a wise decision to contradict her, think again. If there's an issue, she won't hesitate to speak up, and she can be rather blunt - if you are sensitive, then serving under her is probably not in your best interest. Even with these seemingly negative traits, Natashia is still clearly passionate about her work and her job, and performs that job better than a well-oiled machine. A slight bit of a perfectionist, Natashia may make you perform a job several times until she deems it as correct, but she only strives to make your life easier - if you can do it right the first time and not have to repeat it, you save everyone else time and yourself the work of doing it all over again.

As a pup, she horribly sprained her rear left leg, and because of the low amount of medical technology that existed at that point in time, her leg never fully and correctly healed. She walks with just the slightest limp because of that, but she has sworn to not let that slow her down at all - and it hasn't. Determined and stubborn to the core, Natashia doesn't let anything get in her way. If she wants something done right, she'll do it herself. Yes, she'll usually dish out the order to someone deemed qualified for the job, but if it doesn't get done right, she won't have someone do it for her. Hating to feel weak or useless, Natashia did her best to overcome her fear of getting picked on at an early age, taking self-defense classes and learning how to take care of herself. When she got older she enlisted in the army, and when she got done with 2 years overseas, she returned home to go to school and get an education for herself. Later deciding to go into the space program instead of sticking with the mental program she had chosen previously, she is very grateful for being able to actually get a degree in something that she enjoys doing - she often wonders what would have happened if she'd chosen a different route with her life, and ultimately counts herself as blest at being able to adequately perform the job she so loves to do.

A self-proclaimed "adrenaline-junkie," Natashia loves doing things that get her heart racing and blood pumping. She can often be found doing laps around the building where she works when she's not in space, and will often voluntarily take on new recruits to train them up to be strong, putting them through rigorous exercise routines that even the most beefy of recruits have difficulties keeping up with. She might be small in stature, but she is definitely an underdog - most beings who just glance over at her underestimate her. Those that know her know that the only thing she loves more than the blood rushing in her ears is anything related to space - and the one thing that she loves more than these two things is proving others wrong. Having been underestimated most of her adult life, she loves seeing the shocked expression on others' faces when they watch her prove them wrong. She can't stand being told she can't do something - and if you do tell her this and she knows she can very well do it, she'll just glare right back at you and confidently reply, "Oh, yeah? Well then, watch me."

Why Try?
When I looked through all of the amazing RPWs for this event, I found myself being drawn to a few. From the moment I looked at this sweetheart, I knew I would try my best to try out for her. When I saw this gorgeous girl and her pale orange amber eyes and paint, her absolutely amazing tan hair, and her beautiful brown striped coat sprinkled with tiny dots of bright tan powdered sugar, I felt an immediate connection. From her spunky look to her posture to the very ideas I got for her characterization, I saw a part of myself in this RPW. It was honestly as if the artist - Nodell - had taken a look within my mind and pulled out the one design that I wanted to see most in an RPW - a natural design with very few accents of bright colors (her eyes and paint), and just the right amount of extras (one: her hair). When I read the description for her, I felt a tug at my heartstrings - this girlie is based off of caramel. I have fond memories of scarfing down caramels when I was younger. Eating the sweet, sticky, chewy squares was one of my fond memories of childhood, and looking at the candies now really brings a smile to my face. I remember the good times I had - particularly on Halloween, seeing as caramels were one of the cheapest candies to get in bulk sizes - with the sweet treats, sucking on them until they melted in my mouth. In later years, I loved to dump caramel sauce all over my vanilla ice cream, and preferred this sweet sauce over chocolate sauce, something my chocolate-loving brother could never understand. In more recent years, I've found happiness in eating Werther's Originals, particularly their caramel-filled candies. Caramel has been a flavor that's been very present in my life, and brings back so many wonderful memories for me. :) So, when I found out that this girl was based off of this sweet treat, I knew without a doubt that I had to at least try for her, even if I didn't have a lot of time to make a form for her. I honestly pounded out this form very late at night (technically early morning) and got it done in a few hours. With college taking up a lot of my time, I don't have as much time as I used to to try out for characters, so I've cut back in recent years to continue my schooling. When I saw Natashia, though, I knew I had to stay up late and try for her. I felt such a heartfelt connection that I knew that if I didn't at least try, I'd feel bad for not doing what I could have done when I had the chance. So, even if I don't win her, I know that I've done what I can, and that I've done my best at this point. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. And, if I don't win her, I know she'll go to a good home, to a user who will care for her and love her for who she is. I absolutely adore Natashia, and solemnly swear to take excellent care of her should I win, writing up stories about her, giving her her own page on my character website, and getting and creating art of her as frequently as I can manage. Hopefully you've seen my dedication and adoration of her in this form. Thanks for reading. :)

Name: Viola Lynn
Nicknames: Vio
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Age: Around 18
Coat type: Short and well kept
Physique: Slim, but not necessarily delicate
Occupation: Budding concert violinist

Image

~Soft Spoken~
Much like the coloring of her coat, Viola is naturally soft spoken. She loves to talk with anyone who wishes to listen to her, but her voice is so mellow and lulling in a way that it isn't rare for other wolves to have difficulty hearing her. This isn't to say that she's not outspoken, however, for she isn't one to hesitate to speak her mind if she feels the need. But, because that need is so rare and far in-between, she often gets lost and let out of conversation, which she doesn't particularly mind. She knows that she doesn't have much to say, but when she does, wolves around her best listen, for she will only repeat herself once. After that, you're out of luck.

~Confident~
Despite her mellow demeanor, Viola is far from being meek and uncertain of herself. Quite the opposite actually. Though she is still growing into a capable young adult, she has about her a brimming confidence about her abilities and herself as a whole. There is nothing about herself she does not like, including the negatives, and there is none who can bring her spirit down. Those who mock her musical talent are often met with a striking glance, and she always walks with her head held high. This confidence does not border on indulgent pride, but instead is a firm barrier between her and those who wish to tear her down. Self esteem is never an issue with her, for she is aware of her own strengths and weaknesses, and doesn't even lend an ear to anyone who would tell her she is worse than she is. If one isn't careful, she may even lash them with a sassy remark or two.

~Perfectionist~
This is a trait that is both a blessing as well as a curse. Growing up, Viola had always been a bit studious, and she always took a small sense of just pride in her work. However, sometimes she can lose herself every now and again, and not being one that is particularly skilled in self discipline, can go out of control. While striving for perfection is a good trait to have to make sure one does the best they can without being tempted to be lazy and cut corners, Viola tends to lose reins on herself. It isn't uncommon to find her lost in her studies, or busy practicing sheets of music for hours on end without break. If there is a concert she must prepare for, Viola has even been known to skip out on socializing, eating, and even sleeping just so she can practice. And while her parents and friends appreciate the hard work she often puts into everything, they worry for her health, and there was even one instance where they had to hide her instrument from her because she had locked herself in her room practicing for seven hours straight.

~Awkward~
Viola isn't what you would call introverted, she doesn't mind talking to others at all, and she loves spending time getting to know strangers, but it's fair to say that being social isn't one of her strong suits. All her skill in the musical world cannot even begin to help her with interacting with others normally. Try as she might, Viola most often times is just out of the loop when it comes to most things, and she often trips and stutters when trying to sound as if she knows what is going on. A type of nervous anxiety can take her at times and, though it isn't terrible, it does cause her to fumble with her words and tell awful jokes just so she has something to say. This can make her come off as weird to some wolves, and can put them off, but to those who put in effort to get to know her, Viola becomes gradually more comfortable with them and can become a viable friend.

~Nit-picky~
As a dire side effect of perfectionism, Viola is notoriously nit-picky. EVERYTHING has a spot, a place, an order, and if anyone or anything alters said spot and place and order, she becomes instantly irritated. There really isn't much room for compromise for this, so anyone who wished to become friends with her must learn to at least tolerate her picky ways. She hardly ever allows anyone to touch her things, or borrow her supplies, and by no means at all can anyone lay even a single paw on her violin. Viola cares for that violin as if it were a part of her, and there has been no one thus far she has come to trust enough to allow them to handle her most prized possession. If anyone dares try to mess with it, or poke fun at her compulsion for organization, they will often receive a swift retort, a hard glare, and even an insult depending on the situation.

Viola was born to a young mother and father who, though they loved her more than anything else in the world, could not provide for all her needs. They were hard workers, often spending many hours a day working, so much so that Viola wouldn't even see them until late at night. They always tried their best, but it is safe to say that they struggled to make ends meet. The home they lived in was sturdy, but there was always a leak somewhere in the roof, and the floors always squeaked, and the pantry never had more than a few cans in it. Viola never minded however, for she didn't know any different. All she knew growing up was to never waste a thing, even if you think you may not have use for it, never throw away something that is broken, for it can always be fixed, and be thankful for the things you have no matter how many or little they may be. They were poor, and she didn't have much, but Viola was happy, and even though they were gone most of the day, her father and mother and her were very close, and she loved them with all her heart.

Early on Viola knew the meaning of a hard day's work. When she was old enough she began helping her parents by doing chores around the house while they were gone. Washing, folding, cleaning, sweeping, fixing, dusting... whatever needed to be done. She was young, and the effort made her tired, but she took pride in her work, and did it to the best of her ability even though the top shelves always remained dusty and the area behind the couch where she cant reach is always littered with dust bunnies. It was a bit rough, but together they made it, and when it came time for her to go, her parents saved up every cent they earned to send her to school.

Now school was a completely different world to Viola. She had never been much around anyone aside from her family, and she had a difficult time talking to other wolves her age without becoming nervous and sputtering out nonsense. Her studies were difficult as well. She wasn't stupid by any means, but as a wolf who spent all her puphood doing labor work instead of learning to read, write, and count, she was always at the bottom of the class. School wasn't all bad, however. Viola did manage to make a small handful of friends, and after the first few months, her grades began to improve. The diligence and perfection she learned from working at home came into play with her studies as well, and it wasn't long before she was able to do all her work just as well as any other.

Nothing much changed as she went from grade to grade. She always put in extra effort to make respectable straight B's, and she never stopped helping her parents at home. It wasn't until she began high school that things changed. Unlike before, she was given the opportunity to choose what electives she took. Without really knowing why (probably because it was the first one listed at the top of the page), Viola selected Elective music. At first she was completely unimpressed by the class. All they did was learn to sing simple songs and bong on a few drums and triangles. Elementary stuff. However, one particular day the teacher allowed them to select and instrument from their collection to mess around with on their own. Of course almost all went straight for the most popular choices: drums, guitars, trumpets, flutes.... By the time it was Viola's turn, there wasn't much left. There was a banjo, a well used tuba, a set of bongos... and a violin. Now all these instruments had seen better days, each covered in bumps and scratches here and there, but among the poor selection, Viola's eyes immediately latched onto the stringed instrument.

And when she picked it up, took it back to her seat, and first began to play it, she fell in love.

It's sound was more beautiful and graceful than anything else she had ever heard, and even with her awful playing that caused the strings to screech and squeal in abuse, the music that came from it was beautiful to her ears. Since that day, whenever she had the chance she would play that violin, and with each session she swiftly became more able and skilled.

Perhaps it was because she was so used to thing around her being shabby and rough, but the violin seemed perfect to her. It was clean, graceful, lovely, everything she was not accustomed to, and she was in love with the music it made. The following year she opted to take music again, this time Band, and of course she chose the violin. Unlike the other class, in this one each student was taught how to play the particular instrument they wished to learn, and Viola flourished. Her fingers seemed naturally talented in drawing the bow over the strings, and playing swift, complex melodies that no one else seemed to quite able to do. She spent all her free time practicing, even taking it home with her, and when they heard it her parents fell in love with the sound as well. They were enormously happy that their daughter had found something to call her own that she loved so passionately. It was a relief to them to see her so happy indulging in something they never had the ability to give her.

The more confident in her skill Viola became, the more her parents supported her talent. They worked hard to earn enough money, and for her sixteenth birthday, spent almost all they had on a brand new polished violin. To this day, it is the single most important thing her parents had ever given her, and when faced with such a generous gift that she knew her parents and worked to the bone to get for her, Viola dedicated herself to perfecting her craft. She practiced nonstop, played for hours until her neck ached and her arms shook with effort, but she never gave up. To her the violin was more than just an instrument to her. It was a valuable gift from her parents, a symbol that there was much better things out there than a raddy house with leaking taps and peeling wallpaper. It was a hope for her, that she could achieve something her parents could not. She could practice until her arms fell off to become the best violinist she could be, earn her way into band and one day even an orchestra of the highest degree. She would work until she reached that point, and when she does, she can finally get the family she loves so much out of their situation. She could give them a better life, a house that is fixed up, sheets that don't have holes, clothes that aren't hand-me-downs or thrift. Viola could pay them back for all the effort they put in putting her into school, pay them back for raising her with love despite being tight on finances, time, and energy.

She would pay them back and make them proud. She would play her best for them, and for herself.

      History
Amber opened up the oven door, flooding the room with a golden glow and the smell of chocolate-chip cookies. “Do you think these are done yet?” She called out.
Her mother turned around and looked, then shook her head. “Leave those cookies in for a few more minutes. Then they’ll be ready.” Amber rolled her eves and closed the oven door.
She turned to her mom and thought about what she was going to say. “Um… mom? When do I get to move out?”
Her mother whirled around, a horrified look on her face. “Wh-what did you say?” Amber repeated what she had said; her voice sounding stronger and more confident. Her mother’s gaze hardened. “Amber, this is the family business. I stayed here and ran the bakery, and so did my mother. And since you don’t have any siblings, it’s up to you to run the bakery.”
Amber groaned. “Why can’t I leave? Why can’t I move out of town like all my other friends did? Why are you making me stay here? I hate it here! Every day it’s the same; wake up before sunrise and spend the morning baking. See our usual customers because no one ever moves here.” Amber rushed out the door. Before leaving, she looked over her shoulder. "I just-I just can’t take it anymore!” She ran. She ran through the snow, through the town, through the pine forest that enveloped her in darkness. She had no idea where she was headed, but it didn’t matter. But no matter how far Amber got, she couldn’t help seeing her mother’s sad, disappointed face as she had ranted about how she hated her life at the bakery. Amber hung her head in shame and trudged on.
As she walked through the last of the trees, she looked up, and saw a small village bathed in the morning sunlight. Amber couldn’t help smiling, and, thinking of a chance to start a new life, she rushed forward.
