What are they most afraid of?
Snakes. July absolutely hates them! She doesn't like their long fangs and especially the fact that they have no legs. She is mortally petrified of them from her brother putting a snake in her sleeping area.
Theme song and prologue;
{A prolouge means before, so im writing about her mum. I guess I will add a little horror in this tho.}

Marley paced the small cove restlessly, her tail flicking with agitation. The breeze that had manged to float into the cave was stuffy and humid, making the female even more hot. Marley parted her jaws to reveal a sticky pink tongue, trying to cool down. Her mate had not returned for over a day, and she was extremely worried. What has he gotten himself into now? She wondered, worry soon turning into annoyance. She would leave the den and look for him, but she carried the burden of holding kits. Glancing down at her large stomach she let out another huff of agitation. A sudden putrid scent hit her nostrils, and she could not help but wrinkle her nose in disgust. "Bane, is that you?" She called out into the darkness as she could smell it get closer. No response. Whatever it was, it definitely smelt like it was rotting, and she didn't enjoy it. A sudden feeling of fear crept into her body, but she kept her fur from bristling. It could just be him bringing home spoiled food... Despite the thought, she could not feel reassured. Opening her mouth again, she was about to speak when a dead rotting rabbit dropped into the hole. Thank the lord! She let out a smile as her tired and scrawny lover limped into the hole, but Marley soon frowned when she saw his conditions. "Hey are you ok?" She asked tilting her head worried. Bane gave a faint nod before licking her ear tiredly. "There's nothing out there.. and its the middle of spring. Sorry for the poor catch, It was the only thing I could find." {Hint hint, zombie apocalypse.} Bane flopped down tiredly, his ears back. "You must be exhausted, thank you." She said with a purr. She knew it was for the kits, and she soon started to gulp it down despite the putrid taste. Once she had finally choked down her meal, she curled up by her exhausted mate. "Goodnight." She whispered as she fell asleep to his rhythmic snores.

The dawn light flooded through the cave opening as Marley woke up. Glancing at the empty space where her mate was, she figured he went to go hunting. The food she ate last night didn't settle well with her stomach, and a fowl bile rose up in her throat. Forcing a swallow, she kept the food down, for the kits sake of course. Rising up to her legs, she yawned tiredly. "Good morning, Good morning." She smiled repeating herself, half talking to her kits and half talking to herself. Marley then glanced at the cave opening, despite the warning Bane gave her. Of course it was dangerous but a little stroll wouldn't hurt. After all, Bane can't expect her to stay in here forever. Sticking her head out of the medium sized entrance, she sniffed the air. Nothing really seemed to be there, and she couldn't even smell the faint scent of prey. "So Bane really was telling the truth.." Marley mumbled to her stomach as she tasted the scent of vomit on her throat again. Shaking her head annoyed, she wondered if she could catch good prey instead of rotten carcass. Honestly, she felt like a scavenger. It wasn't Bane's fault since he had been keeping her alive, but she still felt like a vulture. Scowling, Marley trotted off into the overgrown bushes. The small berries on the bush looked tempting, but she didn't touch them. Ah yes, she knew she was a carnivore, and anyway they were probably poisonous. Shrugging the thought off, she continued to trot deeper into the foliage. Many scents greeted her nose as she headed deeper into the untamed plants. Flowers, dirt, Dew, the occasional scent of minerals. Smiling, she realized that she had missed these scents, until she reached the looming forest. It beckoned her like a human and a trap. Marley hesitated as she stared into the murky depths of the shadows. She breathed in the scent of pine needles and bark, and her heart skipped.
I guess if I want to catch a descent meal.. She scoffed and trotted into the forest. Marley enjoyed being able to walk in the air as she skipped around the fallen branches and twigs. Sure, she enjoyed the walk, but something deeply unsettled her. No birds were chirping, no insects were stirring, and no wind was blowing. Marley immediately regretted this decision, and turned around to leave, when a twig snapped. Spinning around with surprise and fear, she fluffed her fur out. Only a scrawny rabbit was staring at her, and it almost seemed like it was teasing her to race through the large trees. Letting out a challenging snarl, she leapt at it with embarrassment of being scared by a rabbit. The rabbit raced easily from her paws, and she landed right when it galloped off. Spinning on her heels, she chased the pathetic rabbit thorough the forest, despite her large bulk. "Im not letting YOU slip away!" Putting more acceleration into her body, she reached the rabbits hind quarters. Snapping at the fluffy tail, she managed to grab a piece of hair. Stopping hard, she raked her teeth down the mammals hind legs. The rabbit let out a painful scream, and she could not help but enjoy the sound. Gripping a small paw in her jaws, she shook her head ferociously. The rabbit flew around like a limp ragdoll, and soon stopped moving in her powerful incisors. Giving a mighty grin, she started to walk back to the den. Once she had reached the cave she felt burnt out. The run had put her in an exhausted state, and her mind felt foggy. Setting the rabbit ever so carefully down, she curled up in her small nest. Marley's mind started to shut off when she heard Bane scramble in the shelter frantically. He was panting, and some dried blood covered his muzzle, along with his paws. 'Y-Yes?!" She asked quickly, immediatly standing up. Bane's eyes were wide, and his breath was labored as if he had been running non stop. "W-w-e must lea-ve now! No time to e-e-xplain, just eat the rabbit-" He stopped and stared at her with confusion, but also importance. "Yeah, I went hunting. But if were in a hurry, well lets hurry!" Digging into the rabbit, she offered some to him, but he declined. She quickly swallowed it, not questioning her mates word. "Where do we go?" She asked as she had finished it, and looked at him with expectancy. "To the city." Bane stopped her before she could complain. "Yes, there are more dangers, but there is more food, and I dont think the dead things can climb." He said, blubbering over his words. "Now hurry!" When Marley hadn't moved, he let out a snap of his jaws. "NOW." Jumping, she quickly moved. She had never heard her mate snap before, and she didn't really enjoy the sound.
Why are we going to the city?! What dead things?! Looking at Bane with a confused glance, he brushed it off and quickly trotted ahead. "Ill tell you later." He mummered before treading faster.

Once they had arrived at the city, Marley felt more exhausted then ever. But that didn't bug her as much as her mate. He didn't even ask once if she was ok, and he hadn't even slowed down for her. Letting out a snort, she followed him despite her foul mood. After traveling a while, she really started to feel dizzy. "Ar-" She stopped as he let out a chuckle then turned sharply. "Here we are." Following him curiously, she finally noticed that there were no humans around. Some cars had been crashed into buildings, while some car alarms could be heard in the distance. As if almost reading her mind, he smiled. "Dont worry, I will explain later." Suddenly leaping, he jumped on a garbage can, then a stone slab. Panting with effort and balance, he aimed for a broken window. Marley, watching him with amusement, snickered as he almost missed the jump. "Everythings fine, I already have scouted it, and made part of the den. Foods inside." Turning around, he watched as Marley jumped on the trash can. "SHHH, dont make so much noise!" He warned, looking at her with slightly serious eyes. Marley let out a loud growl as she aimed to leap on the stone slab. "Be quiet, or I will kill your kits on purpose!" She didn't hear a response, because she was too concentrated on balancing. Leaping onto the stone slab, she managed to get her upper body on the top. Letting out a yelp, her legs churned helplessly and she felt the threat of slipping. But before she could even feel her paws slip, she felt a strong tug on her nape. Panting with effort, Bane managed to pull her on the stone sledge without even slipping himself. Marley just stood their with awe, panting in stress and work. She felt exhausted, no scratch that, SUPER exhausted. Her pads felt worn to the bone, and her stomach growled hungrily. "Thanks." She managed to wheeze as she easily jumped to the window sill. "Its nothing." Bane said licking her muzzle. "Are you ok?" He asked, looking at her with a sudden worry. She gave a faint nod, before changing the subject quickly. "Where is the nest?" Bane could tell she was tired, and he felt a sudden pain of sympathy. "Over here." He said nodding. She followed him carelessly, now wincing when she stepped. Sure, she had slight skill with herbs, but she didn't even think she could treat her paws, let alone gather herbs. Bane lead her into a room, much larger then the cave. Leaping onto an object {bed}, he laid down, waiting for her assistance. Giving a grunt, she leapt up onto the soft bedding, and curled up. "Why are we here?" She asked, her eyes falling on his relaxing gaze. "Ok, well... It had all started a week ago, when I was hunting. I went very deep into the forest, and well.. I saw some things. Humans. Well not humans, but they were dead humans. I-I cant explain it-" He stopped as Marley interrupted. "There dead, how can they be alive?" She asked, lines increasing in her forehead. "I don't know, just let me finish. Ok anyway, all I could really smell was decaying flesh, and the blood. The blood was almost overwhelming. I was so scared I couldn't move, until one of them saw me. They rushed towards me, and that's when I saw real detail." He flinched at the thought, and griminced his teeth. "I dont want to scare you, but I'll skip that part-" Marley gave out a loud scoff but waited for him to continue. "It saw me and I ran. I didn't tell you, but I got curious. I know I know, don't remind me of my stupidity. Anyhow, I started to go to the city. Thousands and thousands of them were flocking in groups, and I couldn't handle the smell. So, I figured that we should move here. I mean I know, why would you move us to a more dangerous place? But I did see a dead human near the den, so I wanted to immediately move. Anyway, this is perfectly safe.The door is locked so tight, and I think its made of the substance underground. Humans call it metal." He panted as he finished his story, and he looked at her with regret. Marley stayed quiet for a while, before responding. "Interesting.." She lied. Marley was deeply unsettled by this, and she couldn't help but feel scared for the future.
What about the kits?! Curling deeper into Bane's fur, she soon fell asleep, regarding her fears and questions.

Marley scrambled up, the morning light flowing into the human room. Letting out a sigh of relief she noticed that Bane was still there. Looking up at her with amused eyes, he chuckled. "You look cute when you sleep." She rolled her eyes, but slightly smiled. "Wheres the food?" Marley pointed out before adding. "And the water?" Bane let out another chuckle. "Jumping to conclusion's are we?" Jumping down from the human mattress, he led her into a kitchen. Some drawers had already been open, and she heard the drip of water from a metal man made item. She soon got distracted with an weird looking item until she felt a nudge on her neck. Turning her head around sharply, her eyes rested on Bane, holding a package of... cotton? It was white, and square, but it smelt amazing. "What is that?!" She asked as she practically drooled over the plastic. "Marshmallows." He mumbled as he dropped them at her paws. Marley nipped the bag with her teeth as the aroma of Marshmallows started to affect her appetite. Ripping open the plastic, she soon managed to eat most of the Marshmallows. "Want some?" She asked, her mouth full of food. Bane shook his head and continued to watch her slop down the food. "I already ate, anyway, im going to go scout-" He stopped as Marley spit out a mouthful of food. "What?! You cant, there's the dead humans out there!' She suddenly felt agitated, and pushed the marshmallows out of her view. "Fine then Im coming with you." She explained, a fire burning in her brown eyes. Bane's expression turned from annoyed, to worried. "No no no you can't come with me. Stay in the room, I can bring you back some food." She let out another snort before turning away, "Fine." But Bane knew her too well, and faced her. "PROMISE you won't go out there!" He said, "For the kits?" His voice suddenly turned soft, and he turned away. Marley looked at him with compassion as he left the den. Hearing Bane's paws hit the stone, then the garbage tin, she suddenly felt alone. "Cant stop me!" She grinned as she waited a little so she didn't get caught by him. After a while, she got up. Her legs were still slightly sore from the journey earlier, but she didn't care. (Lol foolish mom) Leaping onto the window sill, she faced the stone slab. Last time I tried to do this, I almost fell.. Her mind flashed back to when they first arrived, and how Bane had saved her. Shaking the thought away, she aimed for the stone slab. To be honest, it wasn't a easy jump and she had trouble jumping onto it, but she soon did. Leaping down onto the garbage, then the old cement she panted.Its too late now.. She gritted her teeth, and walked down the alley way. The spring air smelt of human things, but more importantly blood. "Ew, no wonder.." She frowned as she smelt a stronger scent of blood, but was completely oblivious to the thing by her side. Walking down the road, she stepped into the park grass when- A loud scream interrupted her plight. Scrambling around, a dead human faced her. Marley's eyes widened as she saw it, and the smell was overburdening. It immediately ran towards her, charging at her with a undying strength. But, Marley was much more agile, and she easily twisted out of the way before bolting off. Her paws skidded down the street as she could smell its rancid breath chasing her, and she knew that she wouldn't get away easily. Turning sharply, she flew down into a neighbor hood, but only to be chased by more zombies. Letting out a venomous hiss, she charged into another neighbor hood. This one was strangely quiet, and she felt fear bowl into her heart. Panting, she realized she was running out of energy, and fast. Turning her head around, she noticed that the zombies were chasing after a unseen object, and she was momentarily safe.
✧ ✧
Marley trotted home warily. The chase from earlier had seriously shaken her up, but the thing she wondered about most was what had saved her. I hope they're ok.. She sighed as she thought of her dumb actions, and why she truly did them. After a while of being lost in thought, she finally got home. No compilations or zombies, good.. Faking a smile, she wiggled into the den just to be greeted by a angry Bane. Her complexions dropped as she saw him, and she instantly dropped her tail. "Where were you?" He snapped, his jaws letting out a snarl. "I-I was.." She trailed off, clearly guilty of her actions. "You were what?! Do you not understand what dangers stand out there? You could of died for all I care, and what would I do? Sit here and die off?!" He started pacing, his fur on end and ears back. Marley was clearly taken back by what he said, and all she could muster was a quiet sorry. "Sorry isn't good enough.." He said snarling, clearly indicating for her to go in the den. Dragging her feet on the ground, she felt heavy as ever. Tail drooped, she leaped onto the bed and quickly pretended to go to sleep. She could feel his stern eyes watch her before dropping away, cold as ever. That night, she had horrible dreams. Zombies eating her flesh, fur ripped out in tufts, the smell of rot everywhere, and worse; dead kits lying on the ground. She snapped her eyes open, letting out a fearful yelp. Sweat dripped down her fur, and she could tell that it was the middle of the night. Turning around quickly, her eyes widened to see a empty spot on the nest. "Bane?!" She called out into the night, her body shaking with fear. "Yes?" A response called out and she quickly followed it. Bane, was standing there on the floor, his eyes calm but still stern from the indecent earlier. "What are you doing in here?" She asked, touching noses with him briefly. "Sleeping." He grunted, looking at her with a tilted head. "What are you doing here?" He asked, sudden worry flashing in his eyes. "Nothing." She said, still shaken from the dream. "Goodnight." She called, trotting into the bedroom, only to soon fall asleep. Marley woke up again, possibly an hour later. But this time, she wasn't awaken from a dream, she woke because of pain.
:Fade to black o.o:
The egg she had laid glowed pale in the night as she nudged it happily. Bane wasn't there for the birth, but she didn't care. To be honest, she thought that It would of been embarrassing. Blushing, she took her mind off of the thought and observed the egg. It was white, with orange, yellow, and black spots. Its beautiful.. She smiled, and took it closer to her body. "Goodnight.." She paused, before smiling again. "July."
