Vet Check Up

Remedy gets a Check up from a Vet:

Laurin nervously watched as her normal vet, an older woman with years of taking care of horses, studied Remedy. She worried that she would find something seriously wrong with the stallion, after putting in hours of time and care with her rescued stallion, she didn't want to find it was all in vain.
The vet, Anne williamson, fearlessly touched, brushed and poked anywhere she pleased on the stallion. Remedy pinned his ears when she brushed her hand down his tail bone, she grabbed the tail and pulled it to the side as she stood by his hip and studied the bone as she carefully ran her hands along it. "Hmmm.. He's got a nick made into the tailbone, it's deeper than anything he could do by himself, someone tried to cut his tail bone short with something. It's healed though and shouldn't hurt anymore, he's going to be tail shy for a while I would assume." Remedy flicked his tail out of her hands and moved his rear end a couple steps away, not liking the attention his tail was getting. Anne gave Remedy's shoulder a couple pats before running her hands along his side, feelings his ribs.
A couple more minutes of visually inspecting the stallion Anne turned to Laurin and gave the girl a small smile. "He's going to need some work with that personality of his but overall he's not doing too bad, his eyes are clear and bright, teeth are as good as can be expected. His feet need a trim as does his tail. I'm sure you can see that he is underweight so just keep feeding him and he'll fill out. In a couple weeks you'll be able to say he's 'as healthy as a horse'."
Laurin let out a sigh of relief and nodded happily, she rubbed Remedy's face as she felt excitement knowing that Remedy was better than some horses that were rescued with him.

Farrier Time

Postby Thelastsilhouette » Sat Oct 31, 2015 10:30 am

Remedy gets a Trim:

Laurin found herself eating dirt as she laid there face down after trying to hold her stallion still for his first hoof trim by a farrier. After feeling something weird going on with one of his feet, he panicked when he tried to pull his leg away and was met with firm resistance. The farrier also ended up in the dirt while Remedy who managed to pull his foot away awkwardly stumbled and ended up falling to his knees.
The blue haired girl quickly got up and moved to check on her stallion, Remedy got his knees and moved to walk away, he didn't want to be around for anymore fun time with the farrier. The girl quickly caught him by the halter before he got very far and had to almost drag him back to the farrier.
The farrier eyed Remedy with a sour look, the stallion was eyeing the farrier the with the same look on his face, neither liked the other. Laurin put herself inbetween them to break the tension between man and horse as well as distract Remedy with his favorite treat, carrots. Snacking on carrots helped calm Remedy a bit though he and the farrier would still get into a game of tug when the stallion would try to take his foot back. An hour and a half of dealing with Remedy fighting to have his legs and the farrier fighting to hold onto them so he could trim them and finally trimming Remedy's feet was done.
The stallion nervously stepped, surprised at how different but comfortable it was for him to walk without making it awkward.
Laurin happily paid the farrier as he gave Remedy one last sour look before packing his stuff and leaving. The girl knew she was going to have to find a new farrier after that ordeal but thankfully it was over and Remedy was looking so much better.

Feeding Time

Postby Thelastsilhouette » Sun Nov 01, 2015 6:11 am

Feeding Time:

After having the stallion for a while and getting him a little bit better day by day the only thing to do now was feed the stallion up until he was at a healthy weight again. Every day Laurin would greet her stallion in his stall with a flake of hay as well as a bit of grain mixed with vitamins and carrots.
Looking at him every day, she couldn't see the difference in his weight changes but she didn't give up and a couple weeks later Laurin realized that she couldn't see any part of the bones that used to jut out like sticks under a flimsy cloth.
Remedy was no longer the skinny, dirty and crazy stallion he started off as, now he was clean, healthy and sassy.
