She goes by many aliases. Señorita Escarlata, Red Sail Woman, Captain M, and even The Scarlet Necromancer, are all just some of many. Her real name, known to only a select few, is María de Jesús.

☸ ＰＡＩＮＴ ☸

Her paint colour is a deep shade of scarlet, which is what the woman is known best for. It's a symbol of sorts, but why? What can it do?
It can be explained in one word; necromancy. You can use other words to describe the power that her paint holds. Reanimation. Zombification. Necrokinesis. Anyway, there is more to know about it than just the fact that she can reanimate corpses.
Her technique involves first locating carcasses that will work. There is a requirement for it, but it's not bad enough to make it too difficult to bother with. The body needs to have the original bones. She can make the rest of it grow back, no biggie. The thing is, though, Maria is very picky. She won't use any that don't have at least three limbs. On each arm, three fingers and a thumb are needed, else they can't hold anything. Three toes must be present on at least one foot, else they can't stand. The head isn't needed, but it's useful, because the ones with brains require less effort to keep moving.
She's used her necromancy to erect a full crew for her ship. The living tend to be traitorous and disloyal. Sure, she's got some that are alive, but it's rare for her to hire them. The dead can only do most work, but there are other jobs that need a more intelligent, sentient and living being working it.

Leifr - Negative - Close - Arch-foe

Maria has been warring with Leifr for ages. She lusts after his blood greatly, since he beat her to one ultimate bounty she'd been seeking for for many years. It was a large amount of riches, so she holds her grudge against him. Whenever she sees his ship, she attacks and tries to steal all of the valuables she can. She loses a few of her crew every time, though, so sometimes she just avoids him. On occasion, she'll seek Leifr out, particularly when her crew of the dead is larger than usual. In one of their battles, she managed to cut off a part of his limb.
Leifr has nicknamed Maria 'Zombie Lady', and this doesn't impress her very much.

Ripley - Negative - Close - Foe

Being Leifr's first mate, you can imagine that she'd have a similar relationship. When Maria cut off Leifr's hand, Ripley stopped fighting one member of her crew and instantly launched herself at her. Ripley has been trying to get back at her for what she did to his father ever since, so whenever they see each other, you know a fight is going to happen.

Loki - Negative - Close - Foe...ish

The son of her arch nemesis, Loki has gotten into trouble with Maria. His friendly attitude essentially got him kidnapped, because when he first met Maria, she was docked and gathering supplies. He marched right up to her and declared her his friend. She found this amusing, and instantly took him onto her ship. When Leifr found out, she only gave him back after bribing her with gold.

Sol - Negative - Distant - Foe

Maria has only heard of Sol a couple times, so she knows who he is; the husband of Leifr. She's plotting to kidnap him, and swears that she'll charge even more gold than she did for Loki.
