Story ::
"Hey, pass the ball!"
Mason held the red ball tight in his paws, then threw it to his friends, laughing as they all scrambled to catch it. He waved his paw in the air. "Throw it back!" He barked, then braced himself. After fighting over it, one of them threw it back. "Um..." He said, turning the ball over in his paws. "How come you all are on one team, and I'm alone?" He asked them. They whispered in the group nervously, then looked back at him. One of them stepped (or was pushed) forward nervously. With a shaky hand, he pointed to his splices. "W-what are those? Are you hurt?" Mason looked at his paws, then at theirs. They didn't have any splices. "N-no, It doesn't hurt." He said quietly. "But... I-I...what does it matter? Let's just play!" He said, louder this time, and smiled at them. "A-Are you a... um... monster?" A girl from the back spoke up. Mason's eyes widened. "What? N-no! I... I just..." Mason looked around. No one else had splices. He was the only one. He was.. different. "Am I a monster?" He said under his breath, staring at his splice. He was suddenly outraged, not only at his friends, but at himself. Why did HE have to be the weird one? The one that was different? The creature no one has seen before? He growled and ran home, leaving behind his friends shouting after him to come back. He slammed the door, and grabbed the nearest piece of cloth, wrapping it tightly around his splices. It was so tight it hurt after a while, but Mason didn't care anymore. He can't be different if no one knows. He can be like everyone else.
He can fit in.
