Story: Speckle and Skittles
The little rainbow looking colored baby was so tiny, Pixel was worried other animals might hurt her. Her more plainly colored sibling, Speckle, had been born a good size for a Belldee baby, and so she and Ciarca had not worried about her. But now, as Pixel looked down at the two babies cuddled to her chest, she could not help but worry about the tiny babe. That brightly colored pattern would be a dead give away, for one thing...Shaking his head, Ciarca had told her at least twice if not three times to just give it a chance, maybe Mother Nature would be kind and allow her to grow to a good size as she got older.
-A few months later-
The two three month old Belldee babes tumbled with each other and played with bright giggles that broke the silence of the meadow to which they'd been taken. Smiling, Ciarca and Pixel watched their little ones and their own eyes were bright. Ciarca whispered to Pixel and she blushed faintly as she smiled and said "I know, they are..." -He had told her they were as beautiful as she-
-About a year later-
The two young female Belldees were going out to 'town' to meet other Belldees, new ones, to see others of their own species and get to know more of them and about them. As the sisters trotted through a small grove, Skittles ears flickered as she thought she heard the sounds of leaves or bushes rustling. Shaking her head, she flicked her ears back as she continued on after her sister, Speckle. Again, she thought she heard that sound and she froze, flickering her ears..."Speckle!" she hissed, pulling her sister to a stop. Speckle gave an almost annoyed look at her sister, sighing as she snorted "What?" but got an 'eye' for it. She yelped when, as she was yanking herself away from her smaller sister and trying to go back along their course, a huge black...thing, was all it could be called, in this dark it was hard to tell if it were canine or feline...pounced out onto the path and raised a paw to swipe at her. Despite being absolutely terrified of this horrid thing, Skittles gave what could only be called a battle shriek, and aimed her tiny hooves, hitting the thing in the snout and then leaping and bouncing off of it. She managed to hit with such force, the thing stumbled back long enough for them to race into the underbrush and wait for it to move on. When it was far gone, Speckle softly said "Oh, Skittles, you saved my life..." Skittles only smiled and nodded, sticking close to her sister as they continued along the path.
