Yvette was rescued from an abusive home almost a year ago, and when she came to us she was terrified of everything, including the grass. She'd been locked in a small, dark stall for most of her four years, and had a complete lack of experience with anything outside of this. After a year with us, this lovely mare has quieted down. She is still extremely fearful of sharp movements, loud sounds, and small spaces, but she has grown accustomed to grass, people, dogs and other horses. Despite this, Yvette is still a very lonesome mare, rarely seeking out company of Chance and Illusion, the mares she is pastured with, preferring to stick under a great old oak, where she can graze without fear. Not a vocal mare, Yvette comes and goes without making any sound, and it is not unusual to turn around and see her standing there, her blue eyes curiously watching you. Extremely empathetic, she always knows when someone is down, and does her best to comfort them in her particular, quiet manner. Finally, this pretty little mare is what some would consider an 'old soul'. She's laid back, and, as we've discovered, despite her abuse she seems very knowing about the world.

Describe an ideal riding location with her: This lovely little lady prefers quiet places, so anywhere too loud is definitely out of the question. This leaves us with the quiet trails around our land. We own quite the expanse, and like to keep our horses active. Because she's so easily spooked by things that would keep other horses unfazed, we don't take her very far from home. The trails are gently sloping, through forest and skirt around the edges of a mountain range. Here Yvette feels close enough to home to not panic, but she still gets her exercise she needs to stay healthy.
