Why was he gelded? To improve his temperament, especially for the show ring (see below).
Personality: You probably want to know what he was like before he was gelded, don't you? The truth is he was highly unpredictable and quite hard to handle. Only a few people could ever handle him at one point and even they could come away battered and bruised! He was a highly dominant horse and would try to get his own way in any way possible. Attaching his lead rope to bring him in every night could take up to an hour. He'd toss his head and gallop all the way around the paddock, and the paddocks at Woodland Trax Stables are huge! Sometimes a stick would be need to bring him in at night: not to hurt him with, but just as a warning and/or something for him to bite instead of his handler's arm! He wasn't a bad horse, he just had a lot of testosterone. This worried me greatly, as I didn't want him to get vicious with any of my mares. I'd heard a few horror stories of dominant stallions taking chunks out of a mare's hindquarters. I wasn't about to risk my girls, even with Solomon's amazing bloodlines and good looks.
Since he was gelded, Somolon has become a real gentleman. He took a while to settle after his operation, but once he had and the testosterone levels reached a normal level, his true personality was revealed. He was a loveable softie, especially good with children. If I have one of my days off and I sit out in the paddocks with the horses with a book or a sketch pad, Solomon is always one of the first horses to investigate what I'm up to. Sure, he can still be a bit showy every now and then, but he is nowhere near as unpredictable as before. Besides, his showy side is perfect for his new career in the Show Ring! He's a brilliant horse and the stables wouldn't be without him! <3
What does he remind you of? Breyer Solomon (that Breyer I watched someone else buy from a distance for £1,250 TT^TT) all the way! o3o
Congratulations to Immy, who has snagged this boy! It was really the description of dominant stallions that sealed the deal, as well as your lovely personality. I had issues with dominant stallions. XD
