Mikri Chelona is the pronunciation for the Greek 'μικρή χελώνα', meaning 'Little Turtle'. It is a tribal name, which I felt fitted his earthy colouration, and the turtle's green shell helps too. But the real reason for this name lies in the personality and motto of this little MP3 Canine. He lives by 'Home's where the heart is' as he's always moving about, yet he can call anywhere home as long as it is with the one he loves best - Riorna, his snake.
Personality:
Mikri is as shy as a summer breeze. He finds it hard to speak to anyone he doesn't know well, and avoids company. He's quite socially awkward and never quite knows what to say. He's a determined, stubborn little thing, however - even if the only person who'll challenge him is himself! He's quite happy-go-lucky, happy with his lot in life. He tries to see the good in every event that happens to him. He believes there is someone, somewhere watching over him, and that this spirit is a jolly and loving being. Who else would create the bubbling brooks, the twisting oaks and the cascading autumn leaves that he walks with every day?
Snake companion:
Mickri's snake companion is Riorna. I got this by taking 'Mikri' and inverting the letters, so that A=Z, B=Y, ect. From this I got 'NROIR'. I reversed this to get 'Riorn', and added the 'a' for easier pronunciation.
You're probably wondering why I went through such a tedious process to get a name for Mickri's friend and the answer is simple; Riorna is Mickri's world but she is about as different from him as you can get, as you will see in her personality. I also chose colours that are - nearly! - opposite to Mikri's main colour on the colour wheel. I kept the markings the same, however, as a little symbol that they both strive to be good and have their hearts in the right places, despite how different they are.
Snake´s personality:
Riorna says her mind, clear and simple. She can be harsh and snappy, but she can also be loving and kind, and she is always honest. Riorna isn't purposefully kind nor cruel; she just says what she thinks, when she thinks it. She's loyal as can be, however, and just because she says what you do is stupid doesn't mean she won't help you out every step of the way if that's what you need to do. She's the strong voice that Miktri needs when he's in doubt of what to do - the person who Miktri knows he can always rely on to help him out.
