~Female
Personality:
~Flite is a sweet loyal and caring little dog. When she builds a bond with a human it is nearly unbreakable. She will go anywhere and do anything with that person no matter what. She's very gentle and quiet, trust worthy with children and other animals aswell as trust worthy to stay close without a leash. Flite is very energetic and loves to spend bonding time with others, she loves the rodeo because there are so many different scents and smell and new people to meet. Currently she is still recovering from the trauma she undertook by loosing her master. This trematic life experience has made her quite shy and anti social. She's also a bit nervous and unsure of herself but with the right home and plenty of love she Gouldake a full recovery and be the same fun loving pup she once was.
Backstory:
Flite leaned further out of the truck window, the fresh air doused her seances with its cool licks. This was the life. She glanced over her shoulder at the cowboy hat hidden face of her master. his wrangler shirt was torn in the shoulder and covered in grit, but he wore a smile that made her wag her speckled tail. They were on their way back to the rodeo after a quick bite to eat at a local restaurant. Flite stepped back into the truck and sat down in the passengers seat to observe the passing crowds of people. for the last two years of her life this is how she had spent her life. Trailering around with her master to rodeos. he was a bull rider but he loved her almost as much as he loved the hobby that would never love him back.
the truck came to a stop and she followed him out his door and onto the lightly frosted grass of the rodeo grounds. She followed close on his heals till they reached the stocks were he prepared to get on his next bull. Flite sat quietly, watching intently. She could hear the bull snorting and bellaring within the shoot. it made her hackles stand on end, this one seemed different then the others. she whined and barked tying to warn her master. But he had already slid onto the beasts back and tied his and to its belly strap. Flite tried to jump up onto the platform and stop him, but the gate flew open and the bull surged forward. a cloud of dust hit her face and stung her eyes. they watered so badly that she could not see what was happening, but the sounds that assaulted her ears terrified her.
There was a terrible snorting, the thundering of the bull's terrible hoof falls, the crowd went from cheering to screaming. there were shouts all around her and Flite was finally able to clear the grit from her eyes. beyond the cold mettle bars of the coral she could see the bull, it was still bucking, but her master wasn't on his back, she could see the limp form of him being dragged through the dirt by his secured hand. Flite began to bark feverishly. trying to craw through the bars of the panels. Strong hands grabbed her and pulled her back, clutching her gingerly around the midsection. She wired around and gave the owner of the hands a dirty look. It was Marvin, a man that had traveled with her master before. "Its alright girl, They'll get him off of that thing" he said and patted her gently.
By now they had gotten him off the bull, an ambulance with flashing lights pulled up and he was haled into it. Flite was bitterly confused, why hadn't they let her see him first. let her lick the dirt and sweat off his sun kissed face. The second the Ambulance pulled out Flite lurched forward, tearing free of Marvin's embrace. How dare they try and take him away from her. She pelted after the ambulance. the hard packed dirt road cut into her paw pads but she didn't stop. she followed it till her lungs burned and her muscles ached; till the ambulance that had been nothing but a speck on the horizon disappeared over the horizon.
Her legs were shaking and her tongue lolled from the corner of her mouth. She glanced around, she was in a run down old town, most of the buildings were abandoned and falling apart. Something inside Flite told her that her master was gone; not just away from her but truly gone. she found a quiet corner in one of the old buildings to lay down. Here she waited, hoping that her truck would pull up. That old silver chevy with the crooked bumper. But it never did.
Flite didn't know how long she stayed in that little town, but when the kind people from serenity shelter came to get her. she was very shy, forgetting how to act around people. but she was happy that they had come, maybe it was time to start fresh. She would never forget her first master and how he would sing along with the songs on the radio with a mock souther drawl but she wanted someone else to sit next to in the front seat of a truck and follow around where ever they went. She was ready for a new life with a new master.
A little poem: These two stanzas are from 'For Howard' By Trevor Hardwick I thought they suited the kind of dog i envision her being.
Remember how you used to lie,
Beneath the truck with me?
I’d be cussin’ bustin’ knuckles,
And you’d be sound asleep.
Remember how you used to hear,
My truck come up the street?
I’d pull into the drive,
And you’d be bouncin’ off your feet.
