(In my story, the small cub represents whoever is reading the story, be a male or female. I needed something to talk to as this story will be in first(From his eyes) and third person(From the readers eyes). Any Bold text is Khalid or the 'reader' speaking)
Name: Khalid
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Arabic
Other Scripts: خالد (Arabic)
Meaning & History
Means "eternal", derived from Arabic خلد (khalada) "to last forever". This name was borne by a 7th-century Islamic military leader, Khalid ibn-al-Walid.
Short Story:(My story starts in third person for the build up, goes to first person for the body which is all italicized to show that is a recollection of memories, and back to third for the conclusion)
The night was as quiet as a soundproof room with nothing within its walls. The air sent chills down animals as they curled close to their families to keep warm. Frost crept its way into the world once more after having been chased away by the sun. Leaves curled, and flowers closed to protect what kept them alive. It seemed like everything fled from the cold, yet, Khalid welcomed it. He sat alone on the edge of a cliff looking out, clouds of mist filling the air every time he exhaled. It was an almost mystical sight seeing such an amazing male in the gripping light of the night. Khalid's ear swiveled back to listen to you. He didn't move, only spoke in a deep almost godly voice
"Are you just going to stand there cub? Or are you here for something?" He turned his head slightly, enough to where he could see you. Finally you walked forward, sitting next to him, your eyes amazed at seeing an Angelic lion so close. Legends they are, but, what was this males story? Stuttering with your young cub voice
'I..I...I was wondering...How you became known as an angelic?' Khalid took a deep breath, before speaking
"You wish to know my story?" He paused looking over at the small cub
"Its not a beautiful story, its harsh, filled with misery, loss and realization. But, since you wish to hear it, I shall tell it. Its only right that my story be known."One would think that being on a planet so barren, windswept, dangerous, stormbound..I could go on. But that would take ages, so to the point. You would think one would come to find an inner peace. Which in turn would result in you being stronger, more powerful, and more willing to accept the facts of life. Well, you could say that planet did this, but not in the way most would expect. I was born on a barren planet known as DQ 002341f. Yeah a lot of letters and numbers I know, but most planets don't have names for the reason of there are too many to name. But enough of that, your here to hear my story, not a history lesson. My parents were sent there for something, they never said what. Couldn't really, some missions were just to 'classified' to even tell to your own flesh and blood. Normally it would be a complete risk birthing a cub on a mission, but my mom didn't know she was with me till a few months in. By then, they had lost communication with home and couldn't return. So, I was born, a scrawny little squealing cub, meowing for food. I didn't know how harsh that world was, all I knew was the warmth of my mother's belly and the food she provided.
As I aged, I found I could freeze things, and I have to say. Finding out your element can be the most amazing, and harshest thing you could ever endure. I was testing my powers one day, playing around like I usually do with some extra food. Not that food was extra often, but it was still fun. My parents just got back from another hunt, successful again since they have been able to leave me at the cave. The kill was some sort of scaled lizard like creature. Anyway, they called me over to take a bite, and like most cubs I rushed over, stumbling about. I know you probably think something bad happened. It actually was the opposite, it was funny, and horrifying at the same time. *chuckles* Anyway, I went to take a bite, opened my maw and sank my teeth into the juicy flesh. Well the second I sank my fangs in, ice shot over the meal, freezing the ground, the animal to the core and few feet away from it. Meanwhile, my teeth were still in it's flesh and I was squealing in freight. Quite hilarious right? It took me a few, but i got free, pulling a few of my baby teeth with it. I have to say, my years as a cub were the only good times I had.
As time past, about the time I was just getting my mane. Little white tuffs hanging off my neck and shoulders. Scruffy little thing I was, but strong. Anyway, I still wasn't allowed to leave the den, couldn't risk me dying. My parents were out on a hunt, but they were later then normal. I waited patiently, like I had been told to do so. I waited, and...waited. I stood by the entrance of the cave watching as the blue sun set, and rose, set and rose. It was a good week, no food, watching, hoping that they would come back. It was the first time I had ever felt heartbreak, loss, a feeling of being lost. I finally left the cave, into the cold harsh, blistering cold winds of this planet I had been born on. First thing on my mind, find my parents, I wanted my parents. I trudged through thick snow, blinding white snow. I'm surprised I'm not blind by how much white there was.
I didn't find them, Not then anyway. I had to hunt, how? I was completely unsure, I had never hunted before. Normally a pride would have helped me learn. Part of the benefits of growing up in one, you live a comfortable life. - Lost everything from this point because of sight going under maintenance while I was typing up the post, but I figure for now that its enough to cover the "short story part XD".....(2nd time I have lost this story...)
Personality: (Shown in the 3 images throughout the form.)
(The wispy white - which isn't visible on a white background...realized this after posting the images here. Would be nice if you could see the full effect though though previewing on a darker background sight - is meant to represent his manipulation of ice/cold and is on every image in some way. Its not playing into his personality, just looks cool.)
DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINTIt's here to help me make the art, but I don't mean for it to be part of the form. No written descriptions to the personality are allowed on the form itself.
Cold/Callus - Khalid has grown up with a lack of feeling towards life. After his parents died when he was about a year old, Khalid retracted into his mind. He held in the emotions in, became emotionless and lacked a reason to care for those around him.
Truthful - Khalid wont lie, in fact he will tell the complete and to the point truth. This makes him seem harsh, he rarely shows his emotions to anyone.
Withdrawn - He prefers to be alone, away from others. Having lived on a barren planet for so long with no life other then those of his enemies, he feels crowded by company of others. He doesn't show who he is, how he feels, whats wrong. He wont even let one tend him if hes injured.
Angry - Khalid is angry at life, angry at the world for punishing him. Or this is how it seems to him, how he feels the worlds have treated him. He is angry for being born, angry for his parents leaving him(even if it was by death), angry of everything that has happened to him. Though he hides this anger, hidden deep in his eyes, his heart, his mind, so he doesn't bring harm to himself.
Determined - When it comes down to it, and everything has been tried. Khalid will keep trying, even if there is nothing that can help/work.
OC(Obsessive Compulsive) - Yes, for someone who has been in such a barren world its hard to believe hes OC. He hates change, and wants everything to remain the same. Though change would do him good, he fears it, and doesn't want it to happen. The only change he can accept is gradual change. The jump through the portal was a shock to his system, and took him weeks to recover from. Though this is only a light OCD compared to some.
in the case of OCD for him, its minor as in he likes to keep everything routine, day by day. He can change it though depending on situations. Some cases of OCD can be so extreme as to they go insane or hurt others to keep their lives exactly the same as they have been for years.
Predictable - He has a routine he goes though, keeps his mind on track. This makes him predictable, everyone always knows where, and what he will be doing at a certain time of the day. Though only when called dose he break this pattern.
