Of course. Well, as long as I can get a growing slot in the future. Who knows? Maybe I'll just keep her an adorable baby forever. <3

Short Story:

Coincidentally, I didn't meet this diver adorned fawn in the stables she was being prepped for the rider ceremony. It was simply the luck of the Irish that I literally collided with the female fawn as she was attempting to edge away from the town, picking her way along the rose bushes.

"She is Handsome, She is Pretty,
She's the Belle of Belfast City,
She is Courtin'; one, two, three,
Pray, would you tell me, Who is She?"

Damhnait
"Murphy"

Damhnait (pronounced Dev-nawt) is an Irish Gaelic name meaning 'young deer'. It's an endearing title that the Celtlanders gave her. She thought it very pretty and adopted it as her own name, preferring it over all others.
It's a wonder though, why her friends call her Murphy, as it has nothing to do with her name, nor is it particularly pretty sounding. However, she wears it like a badge of honor, encouraging her close friends to use the nickname, though she doesn't like it when they use it in front of strangers. How embarrassing!

"All the Boys are Fighting for Her,
They Knock at the Door,
And they Ring at the Bell saying,
'Oh, my True Love are you Well?"

Breedable:
Yes, one day perhaps when she's older. Though I fear any stag will have a hard time keeping up with this flirtatious lassie, she's more then happy to have them chase her. Hopefully one day she'll settle down and take up motherhood.

Short Story:

She was Mother's favorite.
Her brother was always off a-roving, getting lost and dirty and making Mother sigh. If you aren't careful, the poachers will snatch you up, she'd always say. Damhnait never made Mother sigh like that.
Not that there was anything wrong with getting lost and dirty, so long as one had a perfectly good reason for it - but he never did.
However there would be no roving for him today. Today was festival day, the official presentation of the two fawns, and they found themselves tied to a dais with their mother. Damhnait wrinkled her nose at all the cheering townsfolk throwing confetti at them. How tacky. She'd love to get out of here.
Bet you I can get loose.
Her brother snorted. I doubt that.
She flicked her tail over his rump. Watch and learn.
Damhnait studied the knot that held her in place. She had always been fascinated by knots. Mother said the knots on her coat had no beginning or end, and that may've been true, but Damhnait had always fallen over when she'd tried to see, as they were on her back. This knot, on the other hand, was fairly simple.
It was trifling for her to discern the end of the knot, and almost too easy to take the loop between her teeth and pull it undone.
Her brother's eyes lit up. Me next! Untie me!
Why should I? Damhnait sniffed. A tail flicked between them - Mother was telling them to behave as she watched the crowd, unaware of the nature of the quarreling. Mother was always telling Damhnait to be kind to her brother, but Damhnait didn't see why. He was never nice to her, forever going on adventures without her. No, it was her turn to go on her own adventure - without him.
Whisking her tail like a green-silver banner, Damhnait stepped off the dais with hauteur, and trotted down the street.
I'll tell Ma! Damhnait ignored her brother, smiling to herself as he bleated at their Mother, only to be shushed.
Damhnait sprang down the road feeling free. No ropes or halters, wide open skies, crowds of adoring people to line the streets and cheer her. She could get used to this.
Suddenly, two men from the crowd sprang at her. Damhnait took two steps back to avoid them. They hit the ground and got tangled up in themselves.
Unpolished louts Damhnait snorted. They quickly picked themselves up and faced her. Uh oh. They didn't look all too friendly. Jumping up, the little fawn shot between the two, causing them to turn too fast and knock into each other again. Laughing softly, Damhnait turned a corner, glancing behind to see them fumbling after her. Kicking up her hooves, she coursed through the village streets. She was going to have her adventure one way or another and these two weren't about to stop her.
Damhnait had never been in this part of town. It was ancient - the houses constructed of stacked rock and thatched roofs - some even had clumps of grass growing on top of them... and people eating them.
The sight of an Elkrin her age grazing on a roof made her stop. The blue, spotted fawn lifted his head and flicked an ear at her, chewing. Damhnait had never seen an Elkrin on top of a house before. How'd he get up there?
Suddenly, a rope came over her neck and tightened. "Gotcha!" She reared up, squealing her protests at the men.
The blue colt, sensing trouble, swallowed, and bleated as loudly as his little lungs could at the kidnappers.
Startled, they looked up as the young male launched himself from the roof with abandon, coming down on their heads in a blur of blue fur.
Damhnait jumped out the way as the men toppled like a pair of ninepins. The colt sat on their chests, his own thrust out in what one assumed to be a regal pose.
Nice going, Spot. He looked puzzled. I had everything under control!
'Scuse me? I jus' saved you from two nefurious poachers, you're welcome very much.
Damhnait looked at the men. They were dirty, smelly, and unimpressive - hardly the intimidating hunters in all the stories. Anyone can see that these two are no more nefarious then a pair of ne'er-do-wells. I doubt they could poach an egg.
Okay, Princess. A simple 'Thank-you-Osraige-for-saving-my-hide' would do.
Damhnait rolled her eyes. If you hadn't distracted-
The men groaned, staring to thrash. The fawns jumped up, dashing down an alley and laughing.
Damhnait leaped ahead of the buck, easily outpacing him. Oh, how she loved to tease the boys. They got so flustered when she outran them, her lithe body easily keeping ahead of their heavier ones.
Damhnait glanced behind to throw the blue fawn a smug smile - but he was no where to be seen. She skipped to a stop. Oh, that scoundrel! That low-bred, roof-biting, blue... she was so flustered she couldn't think of a good enough word. How rude! Leaving her all alone, without so much as a by-your-leave! Well, what could one expect? She was without a doubt the prettiest filly he had ever laid eyes on, but he was too interested in playing mountain-goat to even notice.
Brimming with indignation, Damhnait set off again. Surely there were plenty of other fawns around who would like to go a-roving with her. But though she looked high and low (wishing she could get onto those roofs for a better view) no other adventure showed itself.
Soon, she found herself at the edge of the village. The green hills stretched before her, alluring in thier wildness. She took a step forward - but no, Mother would be getting worried. The slant of shadows told her it was late afternoon. The festival had to be winding down by now.
Motion caught her eye, and Damhnait gasped. There were the men from before, tugging Osraige behind them on a rope. He bleated and tossed, but to no avail.
While still angry at him, Damhnait knew it would be in bad taste to leave him. Just because he had abandoned her, didn't mean she should leave him in this trouble - even if he did kind of deserve it.
But how to free him? She wasn't a fighter, or particularly strong. Think! She was a thinker, by nature. A beautiful daydreamer, and not much else. But how could that help here?
As if in answer, a gust of wind blew wet grass into her pretty face. Ah ha!
Her beautiful green pelt blended perfectly with the rain soaked fields. So long as she kept her head low, the men wouldn't be aware of her presence. She stalked them through the long grass, feeling like a real adventurer for once. Her yellow markings, so prized for their beauty, lost all meaning in the sea of grass and drops of golden sunlight; so when one of the men heard something and looked back, making her freeze with bated breath, he saw only the green fields dappled by shafts of sunlight, and turned back with a shrug.
By now, the village was far behind them, and the forest loomed before them. The men dragged Osraige into the wood, leaving her there.
Damhnait had never been in the Forest before, but having heard stories of what lurked in them she didn't fancy going on. But then, what was an adventure without a little danger? Tentatively, Damhnait nosed her way under the trees. It was easy enough to follow the trail of trampled foliage the men had left.
Picking her way across the wildwood, she followed the rustling and cursing of the men and the occasional angry bugle of the captured fawn. It was getting louder, and when Damhnait peeked out from under a yew, she saw the men and Osraige in a clearing.
She watched as a tall man approached them. As he dropped a pouch into one of men's hands, Damhnait heard the clink of coinage.
She gasped. They were poachers! Osraige had been right. It was just like her mother told her: men stealing Elkrin fawns to sell. The tall man took the rope. Osraige tugged defiantly, but it did no good. He pulled the fawn over to a mule cart. In the back was a wooden cage, which the man shoved Odraige inside, closing the door.
Then he lifted his arms and gestured.
"What's 'e's doing?" One of the men voiced her own question.
"Casting a spell," muttered the tall man, as if that was obvious.
"A spell?!"
"Tricky creatures, Elkrins. But no one will ever get past this." He flicked a finger and Osraige's halter came undone. It danced in the air in front of the magician like a charmed snake. It coiled around the gate of the cage, over and under, over and under, until Damhnait's eyes crossed from watching it so long. When she shook her head to clear it, Osraige's cage was now held shut by a hopelessly entangled...
"Knot?"
The man's companion elbowed him. "A magic knot, moron."
"An untieable knot," the sorcerer explained, rolling his eyes. "Which only my magic can undo."
"Hey!" cried the man holding the purse. "This is a few pieces short!" When the magician went over to quarrel with them, Damhnait saw her opportunity. Slipping through the underbrush, she emerged next to the cart.
Hey Spotty.
Princess! She wrinkled her nose at this, jumping up to place her hooves on the cage door. Whatcha doing here?
I came to rescue you, dolt!
Rescue me? He looked surprised.
What? she demanded. Think I can't?
No. You just weren't very nice before.
Neither were you for leaving me!
Couldn't help that – they grabbed me.
Damhnait felt heat flood her cheeks. So he hadn't really left her! Relief was quickly replaced by guilt – this was her fault. She should be the one in the cage, not him. I'm sorry I got you into this. You were right, Osraige.
Hey! His ears perked up. You called me by my name!
Don't get used to it. She stepped back to study the knot, keeping one ear on the argument between the men. She tried to find the beginning to the rope, tracing the loops with her eyes.
Hurry, Princess!
She glared at him. My name's not Princess, alright?
He cocked his head.
My name's Damhnait. My mother calls me Murphy.
Why?
I have to concentrate! Her eyes raked over the complex knot. Every time she thought she'd come to the end it looped back around. This was like no knot she'd ever seen. It had no ends! This was impossible!
The men's shouting was lessening. They were close to an agreement. Damhnait had to quickly figure out a way to free Osraige. She rattled the cage, but it was solid. There had to be another solution...
Osraige saw her face light up with an idea. Taking a deep breath, Damhnait rocked back on her heels... and sprang at the knot.
Sinking her teeth into the knot, she began to chew – not exactly elegant, but it got the job done. With a few swift bites the knot fell apart, and the cage sprang open.
Ha! Untieable knot, indeed!
He grinned. Clever! Together they dashed off into the forest, leaving the silly poachers still arguing.
As Osraige led his new friend back to the village, the sun dipped low over the horizon.
So why does your mother call you Murphy?
Trying not to blush, Damhnait said, When I was born she said I looked like a potato sprout, a murphy. Silly, huh?
I like it. It's better then 'Princess'.
You're right, Spot. I like it too.

Damhnait is clever. Clever enough to learn that though beauty and intelligence are virtues worthy of the highest queen, they mean nothing in a heart empty of compassion and closed to the world around it.

Word Count; 1999 words
Had to cut nearly 600 words out, and the end is rushed, but hopefully still enjoyable. ^^

“I hear the fawns were born a few days eas’ of here.” A heavily accented voice drummed in the darkness of the tavern. I chose a spot next to a faded glass window where the dying light of the day sunk into the cracked glass of the frame, creating a spider of light on my papers. The tavern was beginning to fill with workers and the man’s voice soon became inaudible. I was lucky enough to put my papers away before a splash of green liquid ran across my table and onto the cushion beside me. The festivities being held the next day surely filled the air with excitement as a song began to fill the air. After sulking out of the tavern before more harm could be done the low baritones of the men filled the street with a happy song of hope and it followed me until the end of the street. The shadows seemed to be calling me into them.

I was really debating whether or not to drop out of the Illuminated Doe's contest for this little girl - She's so cute agh owo With the extension, though, I still have a chance to try! You guys are awesome <3

:Form:

Name:

Clover

Breedable:

Yes, but certainly not for a while, and not without some extensive roleplaying in the future - She's quite happy being a kid for the time being!

Short Story:

The little fawn looked about boredly. All the humans, drinking, partying, and celebrating merrily, and yet here she was, just sitting there, waiting for some drunkard to show up and try to sit on her. Brilliant. Absolutely perfect.

She sighed and tried her hardest to look on the bright side. Well... She was dressed up in silver and emerald jewelry, which was nice. It went well with her colors and markings, she supposed. On the other hand... Well, she was likely going to be sat on by an oversized, drunken fool, which wouldn't be particularly pleasant. As far as she was concerned, humans could be rather stupid at times, especially after consuming large amounts of alcohol during celebrations such as this one, and she wasn't overly trusting of them in the first place. Still, being a Celtic Knot fawn, what choice did she have but to go along with it? It was a celebration of Eldermore, and she was certainly a part of it.

Still, couldn't they have done the same with her brother, instead of her? Why should the female be put on display for all to see, while the male gets to run around, adventuring, partying, celebrating, and having a great time? And speaking of him, where was he? She had hoped he would at least show up for a bit to quell her boredom...

The fawn sighed, shaking her head. She looked about, watching all the people hanging out, drinking and celebrating, playing and chatting - Pretty much doing all of the things that she couldn't. All so busy with their own business and their own fun, and yet here she was, sitting in the middle of all of that, waiting quietly for someone to show up.

They could at least offer her a snack.

Form

Name

Skylark
The Skylark is a songbird with a particularly beautiful voice. They are also quite pretty if you lean to softer colorings and more delicate beauty. This elkrin seems to me to indeed be quietly beautiful.

Breedable?

Yes... but not for a good while yet.

Short Story

In a glade in the woods, there wasn't a person. There was only a boar, domestic stock gone feral, rooting around by the base of a tree. If you are an extraordinarily observant person, you may notice the silvery tip of an arrow poking out of a bush. Abruptly, the arrow was loosed. It thudded in the tree runk next to the animal. Muffled cursing came from the bush as the boar looked up. The cursing stopped. Leisurely, the boar strolled toward the bush. A particularly good listener might have heard the faint sound of clothes brushing against grass. The owner of the arrow wriggled carefully out of the bush and froze, short recurve bow in hand, and quietly knocked an arrow. She drew the strong yew bow and aimed for the boar's eye. The woman loosed. This time she succeeded. The problem was, the pig didn't know that. The archer took a wild leap onto the branch of a tree, pulling her self partially up with her arms. The boar was right below her. "Oh, come on. Can I just get away this once?" the woman muttered.
It was a stalemate. For a minute or two, the woman's grip had already begun to slip and now she was surrounded by the boar's harem as well. Even if he died, the rest would be at her the moment she fell. The archer's bow was still in her hand. She would fall to her death soon, that the woman knew very well. Her fingers, slippery with sweat, dug their nails into the bark of the tree, trying to grip it. Suddenly a trumpeting was heard to the west of where the woman waited. A green fawn, strong and fierce, ran into the clearing, kicking at the pigs. The woman knew as well as she did her own plight that the fawn probably could not manage this alone. As soon as the pig's attention was diverted, she let go, landing on her feet. The woman knocked arrow after arrow to her bow, hardly even stopping to aim. As faulty ad her first shot had been, the woman was a good archer. She managed to kill enough for a path out, then called out a name. "Skylark! Follow me!" Where the name came from, the woman had no clue but as she ran back out through the forest, she heard the elkrin's hooves behind her and smiled to herself. Perhaps the elkrin's name really was Skylark.

When Skylark saw the edge of the woods one morning, she knew she had to go in. So she did and a peculiar tugging feeling led her farther in. Skylark followed the pull, followed it all the way to a glade. She peered between the leaves and her heart leaped into her throat: feral pigs were gathered around it. Skylark knew that this must mean they were waiting for... something. What it was, she could not tell. But the tug was growing more urgent than ever and was not to be denied. She poked her head in a bit further and saw what she had missed before: a tall, strong-looking woman was dangling from a tree branch. She had a bow in her hand and a quiver full of goose-fletched arrows on her belt. Skylark felt her heart ache as she watched the light brown-haired woman slip. Only a moment before she would lose her grip completely and fall... Skylark bugled out a sort of war cry and launched herself into the clearing, trampling a pig with her little hooves. The rest of the fight was covered in a sort of reddish haze. All Skylark could remember was the woman letting go of her branch, shooting at the pigs before drawing her dagger and later the distant sound of someone calling her name. The voice sounded familiar somehow. She followed it.

The pair was back at a little village before sunset. The archer, named Kelona, had found the tiny inn and without a second thought ensured that the elkrin got to share her place in front of the fire and groomed her well. The problem of getting the fawn back to her home was for tomorrow: tonight they would sleep.

:Form:

Name:

Runa

pronouced as Ru-na. It means Luna in japanese, I choose the name as I found the name interesting and it sounded very pretty, when I saw Runa, I immediatly thought of that. I couldn't help naming her Runa, and I am proud to name her that. Her items reminds of the Luna color, I thought the name Luna would be boring. So, since I am learning Japanese, I decided her name should be in Japanese. She is usually called Ruru for short, pronouced as Ru-Ru. I am gonna add a chan behind her name, as I have deicided if I get her, she should be living in Japan. So RuRu-chan is her nickname.

Breedable:

Yes, Runa is breedable.

I am sure I will have alot of suitors.

Short Story:

I crouched down and plucked a flower, I sniffed it, and place it in my basket. I stood up and continued to walk slowly and looked for beautiful flowers, suddenly I spotted a clover patch. I crouched down, and place down my basket, and started to look for a four-leaf clover. I could see three-leaf clover, then I saw a four-leaf clover, I grinned, and plucked it. I placed it in my basket, and stood up. I figured I had to head back home soon, I sighed. I really dislike going back home, it was because I was always controlled and was never free, I only managed to go out as it was my birthday. I was heading back home, when it started raining. '' Rain now? All of a sudden? '' I said to myself, I decided to look for shelter. Covering my head with a hand, I started to run. But being in a dress and high heel shoes, wasn't helping. I looked for shelter, and saw a farm. I decided to take my chance and head there.

I knocked on the door, hoping someone was in. A old lady opened the door, and I explained my reason for comming. She welcomed me, and I sat on the sofa. All of a sudden, I heard a whimper when there was thunder. The old lady rushed up stairs, hoping not to be scolded, I went up. And there, siting on the bed was a Elkrin Fawn, it had a bandage on it's leg. I pitied it, at this age, it was to already have a owner. The old lady wasn't surprised to see me, '' Many have come to adopt this poor girl, but she doesn't like them or I am sure they are not good for her. '' she said sadly. I whispered, " Oh my.. " I shook my head sadly. The old lady said, " She is supposed to eat her lunch now, but she never want to eat... " " Take the food.. I will do it. " I said, the words just came falling out of my mouth. The old lady seemed shocked, but handed me a bowl of apples, grapes and oranges. I sat on the side of the bed.

The Elkin Fawn shifted away, I could see fear in its eyes. I focused on the body not the eyes, by staring into animal eyes, they get scared. I took a apple and gently nudged her mouth, she turned away. I smiled, I used to be like that, and they always made me eat after the told a story. I took a story book from the desk, and flipped to page 1. I read softly and gently as the rain pattered on the window. After 4 chapters, at a interesting part, I saw the Elkin Fawn staring at me, esrs pricked up. I knew I got her attention, I said gently, " Now.. Eat this apple, and I will read another chapter. " I lifted the apple, I nudged the book a little too. The Elkin Fawn seemed to shrug, and ate the apple. She pricked a ears and looking hungrily at the bowl of fruits. I opened the book, and read another chapter, but after every page, I will try to coax her into eating a fruit.

Once I was at the 5th chapter, I picked up a bunch of grapes and said, " Now.. Eat all of this, and I will read another chapter. " I knew she couldn't resist anymore, I fed her each slowly. After she ate finish, she glance at the book. I smiled and read the next chapter, still trying to coax her to eat after each page. After a few pages of that chapter, she ate the orange from me hand. I grinned, and continued reading. By the end of the chapter, she was already eating the fruits slowly. But she paused when I stopped reading. I opened the book and continued to read, after a few chapters, she ate finish. I smiled, I said, " Now.. Let me go downstairs and see how the old lady is doing. " I picked up the bowl and walked downstairs, I told the old lady, " There. She ate finish.. You just have to coax her.. " Amazed, she said, " Thank you. I never manahed to get her to eat. There is a flood, so stay here for a few days.. "

I was delighted, I grinned. Getting to stay with the lovely Elkin Fawn for a few more days would be great! I handed the bowl to the old lady, excused myself and went upstairs. But on the way, I remembered my basket of flowers, I took them from the sofa and bought it upstairs. It would be great to use while resding the story to Runa, I named her that secretly as I didn't know what to call her. I made a flower crown, and let Runa play with it while I read the book. I read till dinner, and went downstairs to get food. The old lady had placed a bowl of apples, lettuces, mashed potato, and a bowl of soup. I tookthe tray to the room carefully, and place it on the table. I took a chair, and sat beside the bed. Runa sniffed at the soup and pricked her ears with excitment. I took the soup and gently, fed her slowly. She finished it in no time, and finished eating the carrots inside.

I fed her the rest of her dinner, and went down, washing and clesring the plates. I then went upstairs, I knew there was only two rooms, so I was stuck sleeping with Runa. I took a pillow and pjamas, and went to change then head to Runa room to sleep. I place the pillow down and went to sleep. Runa who was active, decided to play with me. She pulled off my blanket, and pulled the pillow to her side. I woke up in the middle of the night, feeling cold. And there was Runa with her smirking face. I laughed, but not too loud. I took back the pillow, and blanket. I covered blanket for her, and tried to coax her to sleep. Runa was soon tired, and went to sleep. I closed my eyes and went to sleep, and covered blanket for me and Runa. The rest of the night was peaceful and nice, execpt from the part where Runa pushed me off the bed when she was having a nightmare.

-A few years later-

I sighed, it had been a few years since I met Runa. I missed her, but I guess she is bound to have a home already. But then I heard a knock on my room door, I opened and my caretaker said, " A Elkin Fawn is outside. " Without caring to hear the rest, I dashed down, and saw Runa. Tears sprang into my eyes, I then saw a note tied around Runa. I took the note and read,

" I have someone I love, and someone who love me. I can no longer take care of Runa. I know you call her Runa, I wanted to tell you no. But I saw the bond shared between you both. I can find no one but you suitable for her. Please love and take care of her.

Madison~

I clutched the note not believing my eyes, so all along, Madison the old lady knew I called her Runa. I welcome Runa in and sat on the sofa staring blankly at the wall. I felt happy inside, too happy and surprised. I then calmed myself, and looked at Runa, " Looks like you are staying with me Ruru-chan. " I whispered happily. " Yay! " a voice said. I glanced at Runa and smiled, " we have alot of catching up to do. "
