~Raptor Bird's Name and Origon~
Depeche is the name chosen for this creature by none other than Tox, my bunny because of his beautiful eyes. Depeche is 'update' 'new' 'it's not fast fashion'. His beautiful eyes when Tox first saw them were bright, constantly flickering all about everywhere they went taking everything in as though it were the first time. He felt that his constant unpredictable behavior was appropriate.
~Gender~
Male because the picture says so. This works out because Tox has a phobia of women, other than his best friend Beatrix. At first Beatrix and Tox fight over what gender this creature is because neither if them know how to tell on the bird. As Depechr grows it becomes more obvious that he is a male by his voice, behavior, and smell.
~The First Meeting~
This was not a pleasant place to be. Tox had climbed the highest peaks on his own in search of medicine for his friend Beatrix whom had been badly poisoned by eating the wrong thing. It was a cold, jagged, and lonely place where nothing seemed capable of sustaining life. Even birds would not fly here. Just as the brightly colored herb came into view Tox felt relief wash over him. He wanted to escape from this bizarre world above his forest as soon as possible.
As he climbed his sensitive ears caught the sound of a chattering whine akin to a coo of a bird, yet foreign like the squawking screech of a prehistoric monster. While other animals of prey would flee, Tox couldn't help but follow his curiosity. He climbed to the peak of the mountain and collected his herbs in a basket strapped to his back before hunting for the owner of the peculiar sounds. It didn't take long for him to find at the very, very top of the frigid peak a black, beautiful monster with eyes closed tight and bright feathers fluttering as though trying to take flight. Surrounding the peculiar creature were blood dappled feathers both from the poor beast before him and from some other creature that seemed to have been long gone.
Curisoity satisfied, Tox set out to leave only to hear another pained squabbling sound. His dark emerald grey hues zeroed in on the creatures face, gazing into its now opened pained eyes. He'd never seen anything so beautiful, nor so annoying. He gave the creature a once over and noticed one of its wings had bones protruding from the flesh, its body shaking violently as though he were a predator. At first Tox made the mistake of hopping towards it to tend to the wing only to jump and scurry away when the beast's jaws spread open and a loud roar boomed from its jagged jawed mouth.
Tox hid behind a near bolder for a moment with his paws over his eyes, thinking that would make him invisible. When he wasn't eaten he peaked out from behind the bolder to see the poor thing still struggling in its nest, its claws padding at the broken wing and making the wound worse not better. "...Stop that." He finally said with a scowl and walked closer. The creature looked shocked, gazing to the rabbit as though it had suddenly sprouted two or even three heads. "You're not helping yourself."
"Mreeh?"
"I said you're not helping yourself!" Tox scolded. He watched the strange thing reach to touch its broken wing again only to charge and swipe both of his little paws at the bird.
"Rahre!!!" The bird-like creature shuffled away and poofed out its feathers while hiding behind its tail and stubby little clawed hands staring wide eyed at the rabbit. Suddenly he threw out his head and roared loudly at Tox and for a long time, saliva shooting from his mouth and flying at the much smaller creature. Clearly, the lizzard bird like animal was all bark and no bite at this moment.
Tox wiped some saliva from his face before shaking his floppy ears. With a scowl he hopped closer, knowing the bird-like creature couldn't escape since the makeshift nesty thing was on the edge of a cliff. He swung over his pouch and when the scared creature began to try and escape him he pounced on its tail and watched it crash in a withering heap. It had to have been a baby. Why else would he not realize he was bigger, his teeth sharper, his body stronger than his own? Tox quickly made work of what he was supposed to do. He disinfected the wound, which stung and earned him plenty of hissing and struggling. He spread a pain killing cream over his wing which soon elicited a strange purring sound from his throat. He splinted the wing before wrapping it tight which earned him an odd look and plenty of whistling coos. Finally he finished with giving him some of his supplies to eat and drink. "It's not meat, but it will have to do." He said before hopping off.
The creature gobbled down the food quickly before emitting the purrring sound once again and closed his eyes. He nestled close to himself and fluttered his good wing before moving to preen against the bunny that he knew had helped him. When he went to lay his great head on the bun, he felt nothing, so he moved his head again. Still nothing. Once more. Nothing. His eyes flashed open to see him already far along. Blinking he quickly shuffled to his feet and trotted after the creature in a noisy pitter patter of quiet grumbles.
Tox thought the sounds were strange so he suddenly turned around only to see the large creature dart behind a rock that was far too small to truly hide its body. He blinked then hopped a few paces before glancing back. He had moved closer but now with him looking he flared up his good wing over his face as best he could, as though that would hide him. The bunny couldn't help but smile sadly. Perhaps his mother had been the owner of the other bloody feathers? Did he somehow know he was alone? "Well hurry up then." He stated.
The feathers parted through those dazzling eyes and suddenly the creature had darted foreword and brushed his face into the bunny. Tox allowed his paws to smooth down his ruffled feathers before licking a bit of blood off of his cheek. Perhaps raising a....whatever this thing was, wouldn't be too bad of an idea. "I think... I want to call you Depeche.... sound good?"
The creature blinked and cooed before shaking his head 'no' at the ugly name.
"Good, Depeche it is." Tox smirked and hopped on with the creature snorting in disdain behind him. Only later would he realize that the raptor bird never would fly, nor ever could in the first place.
~Raptor Bird's Age ~
Unknown, though by its beautiful feathers, crisp talons and sharp beak it is clear that this creature is fairly young. Perhaps a little too young to be out on its own just yet.
