Wow, there's actually activity on this suddenly (well, not suddenly). I was actually thinking about trying out for this, as well, but forgot about it for a while when my browser decided to crash multiple times. So. Now I do it!

Username: tawnypelt3

Desired Name: Kacia. Greek name for girls meaning "point," "spine," or "thorn." Also has ties to "alive" and "she who lives." Pronunciation: (KAY sha). Nickname: Kay.

Desired Gender: Female

Desired Design Changes: None are necessary, thank you; I like her a lot already. S'why I'm tryin' out for her. c: I do wonder, though, if you could come up with a way to make her hairstyle look the slightest bit more feminine? Not "ooh, sparkle, girly face" feminine, but more "punk rock chick" feminine (without the mohawk/shaved head style that is both stereotypical and often typical). Ferget it, I already got art of her.

Story of Desired Animal: This is just the beginning of the story I have in mind. Just so you know, this here is Oliver. Well, his dog form, anyway.

Module Eighteen's lights flicked on as the attendant swiped her passkey through the lock. Kay winced a little at their brightness before being ushered into the small space, door sliding shut behind her with a quiet "whisssh." The attendant gestured her gently to the padded lounge in the center of the room, then turned to slide Kay's datacard, collected when she signed in at the front desk, into the console. Kay settled comfortably onto the familiar seat; she always reserved Eighteen a few days before her next visit. In just a few moments, the console had processed her information, the attendant had left the module, and the lights had gone out but for the dim console screen and the softly glowing strips along the floor. The emitters slid up, one to either side of her head, tiny red lights on their corners indicating the countdown to activation. Kay stole a breath in the last moment, then a beep and a flash of light, and she was in the Hub.

Kay flicked open her eyes a moment later, then stretched her legs and sat up; the digitization process was advertised as flawless and immediate, but she always felt a little cramped. Barely batting an eye at the long row of empty lounge chairs running far into the distance to either side of her, she stood and, ignoring the large double doors leading to the Hub's main room, took the normal path to their meeting place. In an obvious attempt at creating the past's visions of the future, the Company had designed the Hub to be almost painfully bright and clean. Walls, floor, and ceiling were all white, with light gray placards indicating directions to fanciful locations. Furniture and decoration were sparse, bare gray benches and abstract statues like islands in the sea of blankness. Kay wove through the maze of hallways, passing no more than a technician and a janitor as she finally approached the statue and triangle of benches that marked their meeting place. As usual, Oliver was already waiting for her.

"Hi. Find anything?" she asked.

Her friend huddled over his pocket computer, brown hair nearly brushing the screen, probably looking for the scenario they'd play today. He greeted Kay warmly as she settled next to him. "Hey! So I think I've found a pretty cool one. It's kind of old, but it looks fun. The plot is a lot more complicated than the ones we usually play. I'm surprised it has so few reviews." Her friend's eyebrows drew together slightly. "I don't recognize the maker's name. It must have been programmed a long time ago."

He handed Kay his computer to look over the scenario. She took only a moment before giving it back and standing up to leave. "Yup, looks cool. Let's go."

Oliver laughed and grabbed her arm, pulling her back down to the bench. "Woah, woah, what's the rush? You're always so ready to just get on with it. C'mon, you know we gotta eat first." She didn't want to wait. The Hub was boring, the outside world even more so; the only thing that gave life any, well, life was getting to be someone else, anyone else, through digital scenarios.

Kay sighed impatiently; "Okay, hit me," she huffed. Her friend, still smiling, wordlessly grabbed his bag from the floor and pulled out a few muffins. She scarfed hers down while he tried to keep up. "Done. Let's go." And she went.

Jumping up to follow, Oliver nearly forgot the computer as he shoved the last chunk of muffin into his mouth, his cry of "Hey, wait up!" barely sounding beyond the food stuffing his jaws. He scrambled after his friend, catching up just as Kay reached the doors of the main Hub, where all scenarios began and ended. Nearly every sphere-shaped engine was free; only two hummed to indicate their activity. The rest floated gently in their cradles, turning slowly, awaiting users to enter their artificial worlds. The friends approached the nearest sphere, where Oliver punched the scenario code into a screen, urged on by the impatient Kay. "Alright, good to go." He gave her a thumbs up.

Without hesitation, she placed her palm on the engine's smooth metal surface and closed her eyes. When she opened them, she was in her familiar dog form. Oliver appeared beside her a moment later. Kay felt her false body heave out a breath she hadn't known she was holding; compared to just a moment before, she felt loose and excited. Her muscles now tensed with anticipation and the headiness only an impending adventure can bring. She yipped and howled, finally free, and dashed down the darkened hall they now found themselves in, once again leaving Oliver scrambling to catch up.

This is just the beginning.
