Woah!! Epic!! Even though it is my birthstone, sadly I won't be trying out for it. I have already put enoght time into my entry for the snow leopard rune, and do not want to drop out. Good luck to everyone though! Hehe, he kinda reminds me of... well, me, spending all his time in caves and rocks.

Lumos Maxima. Lumos or Max for short.

Lumos is a very mysterious young rune. He is quiet and isnt very social due to his time alone in the dark caves of Eldemore. He doesnt like sunlight all that much for it hurts his eyes, and with there being six of them it makes it even worse. He does however love to show off his beautiful, glowing gem stones that are scattered over his body. Lumos is also very helpful around the house. He chases after bugs and insects that find their way inside. The basement has never been so clean due to him getting rid of all the spiders and their webs. At night Lumos is all over the place chasing after bugs he missed during the day and showing off how he glows in the dark. In all he is a very friendly rune and wont disappoint those who meet him.
Why do you wish to have him/her:
I want Lumos Maxima because i love his design. As soon as i saw him i knew what type of rune he was and had a story pop imediatally into my head. You did a wonderful job picking the colors and making him look unique compared to other Jewel Runes.
Where will you keep him/her:
Character thread, definitally doing art of him, my signature, and if there's an rp i will absolutaly join and use him.
Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
Yes he just needs to find the perfect girl for him.
Any Quirks:
He loves to do acrobatics at night and to make light patterns in the darkness, Lumos also replaces night lights for all my younger siblings.

Living Nightlight

"Tora! Im scared!" my younger sister Mika said. "Now there's nothing to be afraid of-" I said but she cut me off. "But Rick broke my night light! And i dont like the dark!" "Mika you'll be fine." i assured her, though her room was rather dark being at the center of the house with no windows and one door. "nothing will hurt you." That night i stayed with her till she fell asleep as i got up something shot out of the darkness and hit my hand sticking to it. I quickly went to swipe at it but as soon as it came it was gone. i looked in the direction it came from but saw nothing in the darkness. I slowly felt my way to a large pile of my sisters stuffed animals. I heard something move within the pile. i reached in and the same thing that got my hand got me again. it felt slimy and sticky. I began to rummage though the pile when i saw this strange glowing object. Well i thought it was an object until it hissed and me and took off into the air. "Mika wake up!" i yelled and my sister sat up and screamed when she saw the strange creature fly about her room. i ran to the door tripping over some toys and running into her dresser while did. I snapped on the light and looked to the creature. "A Rune?" i said as the dragon landed on a pile of books knocking some off. "its so pretty." My sister said after she realized nothing was going to hut her. The rune looked at me with caution. "What i didnt know you were there." i said and the rune hopped off the book pile onto a book on the floor. i walked over to it and pet its scaly head. After he realized i wouldnt hurt him the rune climbed onto my shoulder. "where did he come from?" i thought aloud. "he looks like one of those cool rocks i found on my class field trip to that cave." Mika said. "i picked up a lot of big ones to show you i guess i thought he was a rock." The rune looked offended. "b-but i thought he looked pretty." mika said and the rune calmed down a bit. "well it'll take to long to bring him all the way back so i guess he's stuck here the summer." i said when suddenly the rune shot out his tongue catching a moth and eating it. "whoa... " i said impressed. "Maybe he can stay if he likes. Rick leaves the back door open all the time maybe this rune can catch the bugs that come in." the rune flapped his wings happily and seemed to glow a little brighter. "hmm all we need is a name..." i pondered then saw the book he had landed on earlier. it was the first Harry Potter book. "i know! We can call you Lumos Maxima! Like the spell from the book that made light." my sister nodded in agreement. "We can call him Lumos for short." she said then yawned. "Yeah good idea Mika." i replied then yawned myself. "Well, i guess we should sleep now huh?" Mika nodded. So i made a makeshift bed on the floor, my sister slept in her bed and all the while Lumos Maxima was flying about the room like a living nightlight. Ever since Lumos arrived, my sister completly lost her fear of the dark.

My mind was kind of wandering on this one, actually. But, topaz is my birthstone, and I'm a Sagittarius. In astrology, Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter. I liked the idea of calling him Jupiter in the end, although I'm not entirely sure why I feel it fits.

Personality:
Jupiter can be very strong-willed and independent. He dislikes having to have help with anything, and this can sometimes lead to him being angry with me to a day or two. Because he most certainly did not need my help untangling his claws from that blanket. On the flip side of that, however, he doesn't mind staying by himself if I have an errand he can't come on, or finding his own food when needed. If he finds something he wants to do, little can stop him from doing it, usually from pure determination. He doesn't do well around large groups of strangers, but one or two among a group of those he knows is fine, and in fact excites him, due to the prospect of meeting new people. He dislikes being in the sun for long periods of time, being a cave dwelling creature, but he loves playing at night, and it's truly a sight to behold.

Why do you wish to have him/her:
One of my reasons, which admittedly may not be that original, is that topaz is my birthstone, and I've loved them since I learned about birthstones when I was very little. Beyond that, he's absolutely gorgeous and out of the four jeweled lizard runes, I probably would have tried for him anyways. I'd be honored if Jupiter could be my first rune~

Where will you keep him/her:
He'll have a permanent place in my signature, as long as he doesn't get bored. I don't have a character thread, but he may spend some time in my trade rules as well.

Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
Yes, I think so. I'd be interested to see what type of runes would be created if two jeweled lizards breed, especially.

Any Quirks:
Hide and Seek;
Jupiter likes to swipe jewelry. Instead of hoarding it, however, he enjoys hiding it. Jewelry will randomly disappear from my room, and appear hidden through out the house. It's become almost like a game at this point. Oddly enough, none of my topaz jewelry has ever been included in this little game.

Fireflies;
His favorite type of bug seems to be fireflies. He enjoys them, and it would seem he views them as a type of treat. It's cute really, watching him go after them.

Other:

"Jupiter?" I called, pulling a large jar with holes in its lid out of a cabinet, only to be surprised by a small gold bracelet falling off the punctured lid. The golden rune landed on the counter next to me, dipping his head to sniff the bracelet, as if wondering how it had possibly gotten there. "We'll talk about this later." I chuckled, shoving the bracelet into my pocket before once again picking up the jar. "For now, it's about time to leave." Jupiter took off, being at the front door in an instant.

There was a clearing with a small stream not far from the house that, in the late summer, was often filled with fireflies of all types. As the light faded from the sky, small yellow, green, and pale red lights would flicker into existence. Both Jupiter and I loved going thee, although for completely different reasons. I loved watching them, sitting at the edge of the clearing and watching the lights over the water, while Jupiter spent his time hunting them. That clearing was where we were heading, leaving as the sun started to set.

I opened the door, smiling, and some of the last rays of sunlight filtered in through the door. Jupiter made a quiet, reproachful noise as the room lit up with orange light, as if annoyed by the sun's presence in the sky. With a small laugh I started to the clearing, the gemstone rune circling overhead.

Fifteen minutes passed, and we finally reached the clearing as the sun sunk completely below the horizon. Already the fireflies were airborne, tiny lights floating in the air. I settled down on the edge of the clearing, the jar in my lap. I often tried to trap any that floated too close, releasing them right before we left. Jupiter, near the middle of the clearing, was catching the bugs with his tongue cheerfully.

It went on for an hour like it usually did, me sitting, attempting to catch fireflies, although failing tonight, and Jupiter eating. Some odd happened then. Jupiter looked back at me, his head tilted for almost a full minute before turning away. He took off, hovering in the air as he attempted to grab the bugs. It was cute, but I didn't know why he was doing it. For twenty minutes he did that, flying around the clearing and attempting to grab a bug instead of just catching them with his tongue. Finally he succeeded, trapping one between his closed wing and his body. He then proceeded to hop over to me, staring at me with an almost expectant look on his face.

"You... Caught that for me?" I asked, my hand moving towards the lid of the empty jar. He gave a slight nod, and I removed the lid. As Jupiter attempted to get the bug in the jar, it escaped, joining the crown once again. He stomped his foot and took off again, succeeding once again five minutes later. Working together this time, we managed to get it into the jar. For the next two hours we did that. Him trapping them, us working together to get them in, until the jar was full of swirling, multicolored lights, and Jupiter was curled up beside me, his eyes locked on the jar.

"I think it's about time to let them go." I said finally, rubbing the side of his face. I took his lack of an answer as a yes, and slowly removed the lid. The bugs flowed quickly out of the jar in a flurry of lights, and quickly rejoined the group. "Time to go home, Jupiter." I yawned, smiling at the glowing rune. "Maybe we can catch fireflies together again soon." In response, Jupiter simply ate one last firefly before tacking off towards home with me right behind him.

My my, I've been stalking the Rune Thread for at least a week now. Although I enter most of the contests for Runes, how could I resist a Rune like this? Not only is it shining, but it's another gemstone Rune! I really do like gemstones, and none of the runes could compare to the beauty of this one.

Stories:
The Rune dashed across the cold stone floor, heading toward the light. He had been exploring for hours, searching for that crystal. It jumped up onto a rock nearby, only to slide down. "Stupid rock." He muttered, bucking up and leaping onto it again. His claws clung to the lump, despite its hardness. The shining rune struggled up, and looked ahead vaguely. He would be there soon. He could feel it in his soul. The rune glared at the light ahead, jumping off despite his achievement and running on. He dashed and dashed until his legs ached, but he forced himself to go on. He arrived at a small grotto, full of crystals. "Aurum, you've made it," He said to himself.

He is so adorable and I still haven't won any yet though I've tried many times.

Kalona was looking out the window when he saw her, A-ya. She'd arrived, and excitement flouded over him. She looked up not once and kept on with her walking. She was steady and silent, and Kalona thought he detected a speeled look about her. No, not his A-ya. She would never make a deal with the Queen Tsi Gili, would she? He panicked as he spread his wings in panicked flight. She was headed toward the river, her eyes gazing and obviously not blinking. The young male was terrified. What was to become of his
A-ya? How could he stop her? He shouted her name and begged the godess nyx for mercy. Please dont let her drown, I beg of you! It was no use, Nyx knew very well that Kalona was not comitted to her, but she did not let A-ya drown. She simply took A-ya's breath and blew it somewhere else, but not until many years later when Kalona payed for the price he hadn't realized he owed. He was entombed deep in the earth because he had caused A-ya out of fear and confusion to save his life. She made a deal with the Queen Tsi Gili and her people when she found out that Kolana was to fall from heaven due to his love for her, and she sacrificed herself, with the help of the evil witches, to save him.
