I've been stalking the whales for a while, and I couldn't help but fall in love with this calf's design c: <3
I wanna W.o.P!Name : Euphrosyne (Greek name meaning "joy, mirth." In mythology, this is the name of one of the three Graces.) (Euphros for short)
Calf or Adult : Calf
Gender : Male
Personality : Euphrosyne is a very joyful, optomistic calf. He is rather playful and energetic, and always loves to play pranks on his friends and family. He is quite talkative, sometimes to the point where he is annoying. He is almost always smiling, and his smile is very infectious! Very spontaneous and mischevious, he gets herself into quite a lot of trouble sometimes. He can be extremely stubborn, but he is also bold. Euphros is always curious, and likes to learn about everything. Because of his curiosity, however, he can be reckless. He tends to charge into situations without really thinking them through!
Armor (Look at W.o.P main page for info) : A lightweight silver with aquamarine studs lining it. He decided to be a navigator because of his speed, and because of his story (look below). He never wants a calf or whale to ever go through being lost again, so he does his best to guide them ^_^
Story/History : Euphrosyne was born on a warm summery eve, right around the breaking of dawn. The sunlight glistened through the trees and onto the shallow waters, casting sunlight and warmth. It was a perfect time to bring a new calf into the world. Euphrosnye's mother had chose a perfect place to give birth; shimmering fish glided by, bubbles streaming behind them. Clumps of seaweed grew here and there, and they waved back and forth in the currents, entrancing the young calf. Everything was quiet and calm; much too calm for Euphros.
He grew relatively fast; soon, a month went by, and then another. Euphros and his mother were rather isolated from the rest of the whales; while they were always around, generally the birthmothers are protective of their young, so the whales knew better than to come too close.
Euphros was lonely.
One day, when his mother was asleep, Euphrosyne found himself gazing longingly far off into the ocean. He wanted to explore; at this rate, he was going to be stuck at his birthplace for his entire life. And the perfect opportunity presented itself; a whale, wearing its full armor, breached the water and arched gracefully over the water. Its silvery armor reflected the sunlight, scattering millions of iridescent sunbeans. Then, as quickly as it started, the whale splashed back into the water.
Euphrosyne wished he too could swim as gracefully as that. But most of all, he wished he could be free.
Who was stopping him? His mother was asleep; a fact that was clearly enforced by his mother's loud snores. Why not just leave?
So he did. He swam away from the serene, shallow waters, away from the little schools of glimmering fish and blue crabs. He left behind the soft, pure white sand and traded it for the coarse, tan sand of the deeper waters. He swam so far, in fact, the bottom of the ocean seemed to disappear, replacing it with a dark chasm.
But his freedom was fleeting. It wasn't until he had lost all sense of direction in these deep waters did he start to rethink this. He started to feel hysteria creep through his body, especially when the dark shadow passed by his. He called in distress for his mother, but she was no where to be found. He could only swim around helplessly in hope that someone would find him.
He swam around for what felt like hours, but was probably only a few minutes. He was just about to abandon his distress calls for his mother when another dark shadow loomed above him, blocking out the sunlight. "Who.. who is it?" He said in a vain attempt to be brave. He spun around, his eyes wide.
It was the whale from before, except he had ditched his armor. His leathery skin was scarred and tough; yet his eyes twinkled with warmth and compassion. "It's not important who I am," he replied. "Where is your mother?"
"I... I don't know," he confessed, ashamed. "I left her at my birthden."
He shook his head, though he was smiling slightly. "Every calf does it at some point." He peered around briefly, scanning the area for some kind of danger. He must've felt it was safe, because he directed his attention back at the calf. "I believe I know who your mother is. Is it [insert calf's mother's name here xD]?"
Euphrosyne spun around in excitement. "Yes! Can you take me home... please?" He added hastily, still smiling.
The strange bull nodded, and nudged him forward, leading the way. He swam forward, heading in a foreign direction. Euphros passed a clump of seaweed that he instantly recognized, and shot forward. He swam past the group of fish, past the reefs and white sand... right into his mother! His mother woke up with a grunt, her eyes wide open. "Who? What?" She shot up, with Euphros laughing by her side. "You won't believe what just happened!"
