The Ribbon Story
"'Watch out Matthew!" my partner and best friend, Sara [not a real Sima :c] shouted, sounding frantic and scared. I looked to see a big black . . . thing, running at me. I darted to the side and ran to the mountain, grabbing onto the small branches and footholes to climb up. I looked down momentarily to Sara, who was fighting the beast with great skill. She looked tired and strained, but no, Sara was a fighter, she didn't stop. I called out to her but she didn't listen. Fight, fight, fight, her eyes seemed to say.
I kept climbing. The shadow creature caught a glimpse of me and turned to face the mountain, licking its lips with a long green tongue. Sara took the chance and ran towards me, leaping up the mountain with ease. I followed. So did the shadow creature.
"Climb Sara! I can hold it-him-whatever off!" I shouted, my voice strained and tired. Sara looked at me, fear and determination in her sparkling green eyes.
"No," she simply said, "We'll fight it off together. Always" The last word seemed almost lost in the whipping cold wind. We would keep climbing, while at the same time fighting off the creature. It would be hard, but together, we could definitely make it. I nodded at her and kept going, aiming to reach my almost impossible goal.
The creature lashed out, splitting open my leg. I cried out in pain, but kept going. I couldn't give up now! Sara cut its chest open with a dagger-like claw, purple blood spattering out. I leaped and clawed for the next branch, latching on for dear life. Sara and I kept climbing for at least twenty minutes, slashing at the beast every so often.
Then, it happened.
We were jumping, slashing, running up the mountain. Sara lost her grip, slipping to a ledge down below. "Sara!" I yelled, worried for her safety. She was weak and bleeding, lying there. She wearily stood, only to stumble back and slip. She started to fall.
"NO!" I shouted, tears welling up in my eyes. My friend, my only friend! She was falling to fast, scrambling to grab the rocks, but it didn't work. Then, she stopped falling. She had it the ground.
I looked down, to almost fall myself. I saw her mangled, bloody body, lying there limply. I let out a cry, my heart suddenly becoming cold. Right then and there, I vowed to kill the beast. I lunged at it, slicing its back. In return, the creature headbutted my jewel, smashing it. We were almost at the top of the mountain by now, and I smirked. I leaped as far as I possibly could, landing a few inches from the top. The monster was a few feet away.
I crawled to the top, very battle-ready. The shadow-creature was right behind me. I growled fiercely, fire in my eyes showing that I was angry. I pounced as it staggered to the top. It seemed to be losing lots of its gooey purple blood. I smiled evilly, slashing at its chest with my sharp claws. It let out a cry of pain, reaching up to put a gash in the side of my face. I winced a bit, but I was too blinded by rage and pain of losing Sara to take too much notice.
I then stabbed it straight through the heart, and a shout escalated through my ears before the creature disintegrated into black dust. i stood there, breathing heavily, covered in that sticky purple blood. Shakily, I stood fully, looking around. I grabbed a flag from the side of the mountain and stuck it into a mound of dirt with confidence. Suddenly I felt a tingling sensation in my tail, and looked to see blue ribbons wrapped around it.
Finally.
Sara's Funeral
I sat in the first row of hundreds of Simas. The coffin in the front was closed, many kinds of flowers laid in a bunch on the top. I sniffled, looking at my paws. I knew what I would see if the coffin was tugged open.
Sara's mangled body.
The body of my best friend, who I hadn't been able to save in time. I knew it wasn't really my fault, but I just felt like it was. I sighed, gazing into the distance.
Suddenly, another Sima walked to the coffin, clearing his throat through a microphone. I averted attention to him now, eyes dull and sad. He looked down, then lifting his head once more.
"We are here today to honor the brave warrior, Sara, who died in a battle that many others wouldn't survive as far as she did in. U-uh," he choked a bit, eyes welling up in tears. He took a shaky breath, and proceeded to continue his speech.
"Sara was fierce, a fighter to the bone. She would stand for others, and put their lives in front of her own. She tried, she tried so hard to be the best that she could be. We all loved, cherished, and looked up to her. Sara would never back down from a fight, and knew that everything was possible. Even though Sara is whisked away from our eyes, she rests here still - not in the ground, but in our hearts." I could feel tears coming to my eyes, but I still smiled. Every word this guy said was true, and very heartfelt. I really couldn't have said it better, and Sara was my best - and only - friend.
Then he turned and sat back in his seat as three burly Simas lifted the coffin on their backs. I looked down, not wanting to see the only person I ever really loved be buried forever. I shakily looked up, as they dropped it into the earth with a thud. I watched in pain as they covered it with dirt, and then stuck a gravestone into the grave. I stood and went to the side, grabbing a bouquet of roses and placing them in front of the grave.
"Goodbye, Sara."
His Markings
Every Sima from my planet gets strange markings at the strict age of ten. Mine were because of my father's name you see, it was very interesting.
My father's name was Aráneam, meaning "spider" in Latin. He was the person that I always looked up to more than anyone else.
One cold winter day - and it was way below zero, I mean like freezing - he just . . . died. Nobody ever found out why or how. I was a devastated seven year old.
Three years passed, and it came the day of my tenth birthday - when I would get my markings. I was hoping that they would be "cool" and "impressive."
Boy, they were.
It started with a tingly feeling in my back, then it traveled across my whole body. I started to shake and my eyes glowed, I could feel parts of my skin burning a bit. I hovered for a bit, before collapsing into a furry blue heap. I weakly pushed myself up and found a mirror. I was astonished.
I had spiderweb-like markings, and the top of my antennae were now a dark blue. I looked just like my late father had.
I couldn't have been happier.
The Scars
My scars?
That may or may not be a long story.
I had multiple inflicted to me while battling the monster, but the others came from other Simas.
Yes, others of my own kind.
See, everyone always would pick fights with me and beat me up because I was "weak" and "scrawny."
I have so many scars I lost count. I don't know where the bullying Simas are today, but I swear, I will try and find them. Show them who I have become.

song lyrics, I guess?
Sara
I remember,
I remember everything.
The cry of pain.
Your body lying there.
I was too late to help,
Letting out a yelp,
I killed the beast that hurt you,
I knew in my soul I didn't deserve you.
You were my best friend,
Now you were gone.
Just in a flash,
Like lightning.
Lightning
Lightning
Lightning
You were so gone,
Torn from me.
Whipped away like the wind.
Gone like the wind
Gone like the wind.
Gone like the . . .
