Larrii GarriiRELATIONSHIP: Best FriendsChiquitita, who is nervous and secluded by nature, lived in an orphanage as a young child. When she first arrived at age 5, she never very much liked playing with the other kids, not because they were mean, but because she was very shy. They all already had made friendships and such with each other, and she, the newcomer, felt out of place. So she would sit on the sidelines, and, without anyone meaning to, this became quite the norm.
Chiquitita was left out of all their activities and games, and she never complained.
However, she become lonelier and lonelier.
Near the orphanage, there was a large forest, which the orphan kids were allowed to go and play in with the supervision of the kindly adults who took care of them.
Chiquitita attended these little adventures, but always stayed close to a old lady, an old wolf who lived with them at the orphanage and who she considered one of her only friends. The old woman always tried to get her to explore and enjoy herself, but
Chiquitita would always stick close to her, and would hurry back into the orphanage building first whenever they got back. For, the forest was dark, and frightening, and she liked to remain at home in her room.
During one of these ventures, the old lady wolf was called away to visit a sick friend.
Chiquitita did not want to go without the lady, but the others insisted, and told her of the lovely picnic they were going to have. Finally she agreed, and actually looked forwards to the goodies of the picnic, and so the group started off.
They set up their picnic in a big, flowery field, with tall grass that they could easily get lost in. Thus, the elders watching them told them not to stray far, and to stick with someone from the group. Of course Chiguitita, who was not close to particularly anybody there, did not want to walk with anybody. However, as she looked around the field from their picnicking spot on a hill with shorter grass, she noticed some butterflies busily fluttering by a particularly beautiful patch of flowers. Wanting to examine them closer, she hurried off by herself unnoticed, into the high grass, which quickly drowned her out from the sight of the others.
Suddenly, just as it occurred to her she could not see where she was going, another small figure appeared from out of the grass, crashing into her and causing them both to tumble a bit downhill. When they finally landed on top of a patch of soft moss,
Chiquitita got to her paws hurriedly, afraid that the stranger might be dangerous. However, giving the figure next to her a look over, he appeared just to be a awkwardly large eared kitten. She was surprised, however, because he was not from her home for orphans.
"Hi!" The cat greeted, having had already recovered from the tumble.
Chiquitita could not respond in her nervousness, and merely looked at her paws glumly.
"You okay?" The tom kitten asked, frowning. "I am. That wasn't such a bad tumble, really."
Chiquitita responded by sniffing slightly, trying to keep herself from crying. To her it wasn't just "not such a bad tumble". The entire ordeal was too much for the sensitive creature, and, within seconds, she began to cry.
"Don't cry!" the cat exclaimed, his ears going flat on his head. "I'm sorry! But your okay, right? Please answer! did you get hurt?"
Chiquitita, still sniffling and gradually getting more and more unnerved, turned and ran, not knowing how to talk to this stranger. if she couldn't even make friends with the kids at her home, how was she supposed to make friends and talk to a strange kitten who had just pushed her downhill? It was far too much to ask!
"Hey! WAIT! Not that way! Come back!" The kitten called, following after her. "I said I'm sorry! Now, PLEASE, come back! That ways not safe, there are-"
But
Chiquitita did not hear or listen to the rest, and merely hurried onward. Soon, she was in a patch of flowers, and, in her rush, she ran right into a pollinating bee, who, in response, stung her nose. At this sudden pain the small wolf squeaked, still crying, and stopped to rub her nose. This gave time for the kitten to catch up with her.
"I told you! There are a lot of bees here, you need to be careful." The kitten said, frowning as he hurried to a stop next to her. "Now, let me see your nose, I know something that'll help."
In her confusion, she did what she was told, and he examined the wound seriously. "You wait here." He then said. "I have to get a plant that's good for this. There is a patch of them not far from here."
So saying, he hurried off. Within a few moments, he returned, with a bunch of basil leaves in his mouth. Crushing them in his teeth, he applied the crushed leaves to the sobbing child's nose. "There, that should help!" he then said happily, smiling at her. "The pain won't go away right off the bat, I am sorry to say, but this really helps! Now, please stop crying, and cheer up."
Chiquitita sniffed, and, holding back a fresh flow of tears, mumbled a quick thank you.
"Now, come with me." The kitten said, and led her along slowly away, back towards the way she had come.
This was the first time she met Larrii, and, in spite of herself, by the time they reached her picnic group again, she rather liked him. Several more times she went off into the field to meet and play with him, and soon they were best friends.
Now, she is 15 years old, and not such a shy wolf as she was before. Larrii taught her a lot during their meetings, from various natural cures of the forest, and also to not be so afraid. Now, while still being slightly shy, she is able to get past her natural shyness and make other friend, and also hopes to study plants and medicines, and. Perhaps, even become a doctor someday.
Her and Larrii frequently go on adventures together, from visiting waterfalls and nearly falling in several times, to escaping angry wildlife, and many other things. Through all their mistakes, and successes, and fears and dreams, and through good and bad, these two have taught each other a lot, and now
Chiquitita is always awaiting a great, new adventure.
