Ken is hyper sensitive to noises, especially small clicking ones. However, he is adjusted to one noise. That is the sound of his watch, and he likes to keep it handy at all times to "soothe the sounds" as he calls it, as somehow, it's gentle ticking "mellows" other sounds to him. However, he is without his trusty watch! So he feels startled and upset right now, until he finds it.
